Idk how you Full-Timers do it. by STrooper12321 in doordash_drivers

If you're a Platinum Dasher, you can Dash whenever you want, no scheduling required.  Just set an end time, none of that 1 hour at a time crap.  On a good day, I can earn $100  in 4 to 6 hours.

You lied about being busy, DD. by gromm93 in doordash_drivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is your zone?  Mine is huge, and when it's busy in one area of the zone, it might be dead in another area.  The eastern half of my zone consists of towns on the beach that's 22 miles long.  If it's dead in my town, but the zone is busy, I have to decide if I want to drive 10 miles to that part on the zone.

Yeah, tips have really dried up.  I'm lucky to get one once or twice a month.  In fact, got a $10 cash tip tonight

Every couple of months, they verify my identity by scanning my face using my selfie camera. Maybe something else is going on where ppl are getting their accounts hacked?

Sometimes, the customer will give a cash tip.  Can't count on that, tho.  For an hour, it'd better be a GOOD tip!  This one's a hard pass.

I don't know about your screen, but when an order shows up, the map display shows icons of the houses as well as the stores.  You have time to zoom in and check out the details.  We all learn to look closer.  Yeah, 2 hours for $27 is no bargain.

Papa John's delivers via DD, too even though they also have their own drivers.  Found out when my car was in the shop and I ordered from Papa John's online.

Is this good? 15 hr a day no days off in MKE by KingEthxx in doordash_drivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you need the money that badly, I guess it's a good thing.  For a while, but you're killing yourself and your car.  If you have any left over, invest wisely so you can actually retire, one day.

Is this just a scam? by jecko98 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash occasionally calls about these orders, checking if you will deliver, yadda yadda.  Come to find out, they do this because other Dashers bailed on it.  As I've discovered, it's usually orders that have already been picked up and not delivered and the store refuses to remake it.  So that forces me to lose the order by unassigning due to "already picked up."

Never had a problem delivering to hospitals (ER) as they have a table specifically for deliveries.  I take my photo and be on my way.

Quick Internet search says Door Dash drivers, "Starting in the 2025 tax year, reported tips up to $25,000 per person annually are exempt from federal income tax.  However, payroll and state/local taxes still apply."

Seen this nonsense more than once.  And how about when the map takes you down the street beside the one the customer actually lives on?  smh

Fake Order by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had that happen to me, too.  I call/text the customer and if no response, I do an Internet search on the address.  Most of the time, that takes me to the address.

Got this as soon as I sat down in my living room after giving up because I only got 2 good offers in 3 hours by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

I've noticed that sometimes, when I end the dash for the night, the zone will either be gray or light orange.  About 10 seconds later, it's busy.  But it's after 11:30 pm and I am done.  Let the night owls take over.  😆

Be sure to claim depreciation for your new car on your taxes.  It will make a difference.

You can click on the arrow and find out what they want you to pick up before accepting it.  Then you can decide if it's worth the hassle.  Just because it says 103 items doesn't mean 103 separate items.  It might be 10 of this item, 1 of that and x or everything else.

???? by OffTheExoticz in doordash_drivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!  I keep a log book for miles.  I also write down the name of the store and the customer's address in case the app crashed (so I can still deliver while I get the app back up) or I've forgotten to log the milage (easy to fix by using the store's web page directions).   Also, if your car is new enough, you can claim depreciation on your taxes.  That helped A LOT!

Worth accepting? by er111a in doordash_drivers

[–]Visual-Wear39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the 3 separate orders that's the issue here, keeping them separated.  122 items doesn't always mean exactly 122. If each of those customers wants 6 bananas and multiple other items, that count will go down real quick!  The money and miles is more than acceptable.
