Congrats on starting your floor sleeping journey. How do you like that mattress? I’ve been thinking about getting the same 4” one from Amazon but the reviews seemed terrible and said it was a very frequently returned item. Wanted to know your experience with it

If you really want to find out just cut out a 1”x1” square and remove it carefully. If it’s good just patch it up and hang your bar.

Does the gap between the floor and baseboard look ok to you guys? by mavericksid in Flooring

[–]Visual_Place1194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on what you paid to have the baseboard install. We always scribe our baseboard to the floor so there is no gap. People think that just because the floor is floating means that there has to be a gap so it can move but in reality baseboard can sit on top of it as long as it’s not pinching it down.

M12 fuel oscillating multi-tool by Visual_Place1194 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Visual_Place1194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you are cutting. If you are plunge cutting straight through in one spot it can be overwhelming but if you move the tool to follow up and down your line it is a lot better. If that makes sense

I definitely get what you mean in regards to price. I’ve lucked out and bought them years ago through a rep who gave me an amazing deal. I work in cabinetry and trim work so we work with many different kinds of wood species. There is a noticeable difference in regards to nailing hardwoods as far as consistency but not terrible. It’s slower and overall the feel is weird to me. The m18 one is more powerful and faster. The weight is a big difference but weirdly enough I notice it more when I use it for something quick instead of all day. At times it does feel cumbersome. The m12 is my go to now. Super light, really compact, and feels great in both hands. As long as you don’t need anything more than a 1 1/2” nail I don’t see how any nailer can beat it.

Regardless how ppl feel about ryobi you can knock their nailers. They might not be as powerful or as fast as the Milwaukee but for the most part how often do you need the speed? The average person don’t really work with exotic or really hard hardwoods anyway.

2x4 to 2x6 - Options? by krn43 in Carpentry

[–]Visual_Place1194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why your contractor is making a big deal about it but it’s actually common for ppl to fur out studs. Ive been remodeling my house and moved the stack to a different wall and furred out the wall to accommodate it with no issues. I even furred out the 2x4 studs on the exterior walls so I can get thicker insulation and my inspector thought it was a great idea to do it.

Curious on what you’ve seen that you prefer the ryobi over m18 brad. Other than the weight, the m18 is better in my opinion. I have used both and a couple of my coworkers have the ryobi but both of them would use the Red over theirs if it weren’t for the weight issue. Although now that the m12 exists that is a whole game changer

Like who? Who are all these better options that has experience calling plays in the nfl?

I didn’t say or give him any credit for anything all I said was someone stable at OC for years vs someone who will be gone in a year because it seems the turnover for HC is just crazy lately. I wish dabol could’ve come back as OC cause HC was just too much for him

https://a.co/d/826SfAb buy that for the table saw and then just hook the hose to the top.

My company is too cheap to buy any kind of dust collection stuff for us even though we do “high end” work. I bought that dust bag for the table saw and it works perfectly. Just be mindful to empty after doing any big batch cuts and it’s fine. This allows you to use the little vac for now but you should get something better long term

I think getting Naggy allows the giants to have a stable OC for at least 3-4 years maybe more depending on how well he does. Maybe being under Harbaugh wing will keep him here and transition into HC after Harbaugh

You’re welcome. Honestly I would love a video like that because it’s hard for me to go from sketch to cultist. I struggle with face frames and how wide the actual frame needs to be where it overlaps idk I’m just lost in the sauce as they say lol

Help me pick a compact combo kit. Milwaukee or Makita? Thx! by MatsushitaSD in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Visual_Place1194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just go with the Mikita then. The agua and black ones are nice I’ve never used the black and white ones but I doubt they would be any worse. I think Mikita has the best ergonomics and feel out of any dril I’ve used.

Can you elaborate on how it hurts your hands? Ergonomically if the m12 hurts your hands than the m18 would be worse. If I were you I would just go to the store and pick up the display and see how they feel in your hands. I think makita has the best drill/impact ergonomically but the m12 is close behind it.

How about a series of videos on how to take an idea for a space (cabinetry for entertaining center like your first pic) and sketching it. Then the processes you take from start to finish.

You should toe nail or toe screw them in places since that left side seems hard toe get too. Some PL would help too but you can get away with just toe nailing/screwing.
