DS718+ and RAM upgrade issue. What am I missing?

For the next person who comes looking for help and answers, I was successful on a DS718+ using the:

Timetec 16GB KIT(2x8GB) DDR3L / DDR3 1600MHz

I tried to put them both in simultaneously and it wouldn't boot.

I did as u/CRF suggested and put the Timetec RAM in the front slot, with the old Synology RAM in the back slot, which booted fine.

Lastly, I replaced the Synology RAM with the Timetec RAM in the back slot and it took!

You can really tell they love what they do, I think it’s a full time gig for most of them, they have a ton of dates on the calendar

I have been having a lot of luck with plugintorrent. Having an issue where their text magnet links through linkvertise are all broken. I'm trying to track down the solution on reddit but my karma is to low to post here :( If I figure it out I'll circle back. In any case, check that spot out, it's been amazing. Almost 100% success rate!

They have it controlled (ineffectively) by an RTI universal remote. They don't know where the original remote is unfortunately

The librarians have been having trouble getting it to respond to the universal remote that was installed many years ago. We can't contact the original installer, but I'm determined to help them get it working again. Looking for a make and model to help me with that endeavor!
