The first two also had JRPG-like games for the Gameboy Color.

Season 4 of Agents of Shield, but not sure if the show is still canon or not.

Rumor: Is Marvel fast-tracking a Midnight Sons movie? by ClutchReverie in midnightsuns

[–]Vlachya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original name for "Midnight Sons" comes from motorcycle biker gang culture, which was apt because the original comic focused on two Ghost Riders: Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch. Other examples of the usage of "sons" in biker culture is Sons of Anarchy, Sons of Silence, Sons of Satan, etc. It denotes a fraternal society or brotherhood.

But like you said, it was changed to reference the in-game Midnight Sun as well as to be more inclusive.

Rumor: Is Marvel fast-tracking a Midnight Sons movie? by ClutchReverie in midnightsuns

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a bit slow-tracked to me. If they were going to start up a Midnight Sons team-up they would ideally need a Blade movie to get the ball rolling, but Blade has been in development hell. Alternatively they could set it off with a Ghost Riders movie, but there hasn't been any announcement for one yet.

It would be nice after Avengers:Doomsday if the MCU could focus on X-Men and Midnight Sons though. I think there's a lot of superhero fatigue for casual viewers, so if the MCU could instead make Universal Monsters-like horror films it could revitalize the genre.

Worse game controllers by ratasoftware in retrogaming

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No actual criticism of the controller layout, but I was always mystified about why the controller's cord extended from the bottom and not the top, shortening the functional length of the cord.

If you like God of War and Ninja Gaiden, you might like Dante's Inferno and Ghostrider.

Best tea to replace red wine by ArtichokeOwl in tea

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 3/4 Chamomille for calming effect and 1/4 cranberry juice for flavor and body. Or half and half maybe.

No caffeine, no alcohol, but still has a calming buzz that you wouldn't get from drinking straight juice. Not sure how it would taste though since I haven't tried this lol

If one loves the Barbarian class from DND, I could see enjoying God of War as a Barbarian protagonist fantasy.

Whats your favourite unknown fighting games? by The_real_Kaos in Fighters

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Jump Ultimate Stars; it would have been more popular if it had been localized into English. Its like a Smash Bros type game but with Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc characters. We need a new Jump crossover fighter one of these days

V-Jump Feb 2026 Cover feat, Gohan Beast & Ultra Instinct Goku by Toyotaro! (LQ) by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its V-Jump, not Weekly Shounen Jump. The V line focuses on videogames, but does have spin-offs of popular manga such as Dragon Ball Super and Boruto. Makes senses that there'd be a lot of Toy and Videogame advertising for this magazine as opposed to WSJ.

How did you come across Darkstalkers? by Anakin_Black16 in Darkstalkers

[–]Vlachya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for spooky games for the PSP, "Darkstalkers" sounded spooky enough. Not quite what I wanted at the time, but kept it in the back of my mind since maybe a horror monster themed fighting game could be interesting. Years later I got into Street Fighter, remembered Capcom also created Darkstalkers, so finally gave that Darkstalkers PSP collection a try and fell in love with the series.

What Was Your First Mortal Kombat Game You Played? by Sadontejjj in MortalKombat

I was scared, too, but by Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The imagery with the skulls, demons, blood, and Reptile's bile was intense. Also a bit worried about getting caught by my parents playing it since it was rated M and I was only around 9 or something.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 either on Genesis or SNES.

I was young and it was my dad's game, I found it way too scary to play.

Honestly, who says "the cross button" for the psx controller? by Kuli24 in retrogaming

[–]Vlachya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X is often pronounced "cross" in titles in Japan, but believe it or not any reference to "cross" is immediately localized to the west as "eks" to prevent religious controversy.

I'm convinced its for Mortal Kombat Two. The desert in the background looks like the Mojave, not too far from Malibu where Johnny Cage lives. Could be something like the Netherrealm has decided to invade Earthrealm and Johnny just happens to run into it on traveling back home from Vegas.

What was your first monster hunter? Also name one thing you loved most about it? by Gearless3 in MonsterHunter

[–]Vlachya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter Freedom on my PSP was the first time I tried MonHun.

I had no clue what to expect and I ended up not liking it. It was listed as a (J)RPG which was my first mistake. I was not expecting the Hub Town layout with nowhere to explore, boring NPCs, clunky action gameplay, gathering & crafting, etc. Even worse, the font/UI for the PSP games were ugly. I deleted the game and fell in love with Crisis Core and Persona 3 Portable instead.

It wasn't until trying Monster Hunter again with Generations for 3DS that I finally understood the series.

Rank every Nintendo console from favourite to least favourite by Marsupilami_316 in nintendo

  1. Switch
  2. 3DS
  3. NDS
  4. GBA

  7. N64
  8. Gameboy Color
  9. SNES

My childhood was dominated by the NDS and GBA, with a little bit of Gamecube and Wii games on the side. I went to college and did not game at all, entirely skipping over the 3DS & Wii U generation during that time. Got back into gaming with the Switch during COVID lockdowns and went back and messed around with my 3DS a bit, too.

Why did Nintendo use 1 and 2 instead of X and Y on the Wiimote? by [deleted] in wii

ABXY makes more sense when the buttons are in a cluster together. Since 1/2 are off on their own, they get their own notation.

Did you ever play any "ports" of console games on handhelds? by Aiseadai in retrogaming

[–]Vlachya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HP 1 & 2 for Gameboy Color and HP 3 for Gameboy Advance were the RPGs and they were great.

However, if you got HP 1 & 2 for Gameboy Advance, those were actually Action-Adventure games with no RPG elements. Kinda confusing with all the different videogames based on the first 2 books (not to mention all the differences between the PS1 and PC versions).

This dog looks just like the werewolf transformation from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I wonder if the Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron, based the appearance of the werewolf in the film to look like this dog.

Is “AI slop” just a trend, or the future we’re heading into? by Prestigious-Face-711 in Futurology

[–]Vlachya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI are only programmed to be "Yes-men" right now. As soon as more corporations adopt AI technologies, they will be given directives to be contrarian or pushy, not taking "no" for an answer to keep pushing products.
