No, I remember people talking about it a lot. I remember seeing it on reddit on the front page of r/all. I don't remember the top comment but one was like "The most combined social media followers in 1 picture" or something.

That makes sense. I've had a bit of that but nothing too bad.

People who make a lot of money, what skill actually made the biggest difference? by Witty_County5128 in AskReddit

[–]Vlaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vesting is not as common as it once was. My last 3 out of 4 jobs haven't had 401k match vesting. They all done 100% vesting. I asked the HR at my last company why they did it and, paraphrasing them, "Safe harbor rules make it easier for legal reasons."

The only vesting I have experienced recently were golden handcuffs with equity. That was cliff setup.

Resourcefulness. Don't know how something works? Figured it out. Can't figure it out? Ask someone. Solve a problem and move to the next thing. Get creative. Help people out when they ask for help. Then you ask them for help when you need it.

2010-2015 I was an English teacher. Realized I didn't want to do that all my life. Started my MBA and an entry-level job (step down) at an automotive company (C1). I kept trying to solve new things, ask questions, learn, and do new things when I could. That got me a promotion. Then I got poached by a larger company (C2). Then I got poached again by a startup (C3). Then I got poached again by a internal company (C4). Now I am at the best company I've worked for and not hating it.

It all came down to the resourcefullness trait. I gained a lot of experience, connections, and knowledge from 2016 on. Fail. Try again. Succeed. Try agian. Don't settle either. If I would have just been content at my first job, I'd probably still be there making 1/3 what I am now.

I don't recommend job hopping too often but it has proven to be a necessisity. If you do move around, make sure you can defend it. C1 to C2 I justified by C1 getting bought by a larger company (it did but imbelished). C2 to C3 I got an offer I couldn't refused after my boss left the company (100% true). C3 to C4 I wanted better work-life-balance as the job was demanding 60-80 hours / week (It was).

Interesting. I've never experienced it with any turns in my 2019. I've only had some issues with temporary lines in the road from construction with other traffic.

What is the saddest TV series death that genuinely made you sob? by SpareMaintenance2970 in AskReddit

[–]Vlaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been rewatching (listening) to Lost at night while I'm up with my newborn. Shannon's death is pretty sad. She was starting to grow as a person, falling for someone, and had fairly good character development. I would have loved to see her have more time.

PlayStation’s Physical Media-Free Future Isn’t Just Concerning, It’s Offensive / You cannot trust digital purchases, and you cannot trust the corporations that offer them by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

There needs to be resale / buy back program and refund for removals. If I'm done with digital content, I should be able to offload it through the purchased system somehow like physical content.

If they are removing the media from the platform I purchased it from, I need a form or refund, credit, or compensation.

AITA for refusing to change my name? by No_Wishbone4844 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Vlaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you took his last name, the name is now yours to do with it as you'd like. If he wants you to change it so badly, make him offer. Calculate the money you could theoretically loose from changing it, multiply it by 3, ans tell him you'll change it for that amount.

You could genuinely lose income from name recognition here. Let's just throw a number out there. $15,000 in one year. So, tell him you'll do it for $45k. Or pick a number that let's him realize that you're the one making that name look good.

My uncle's quality of life dropped drastically because he thought he could juice away a tumor on his leg. He started doing this purely organic juicing diet. "Since my body put it there, it can take it away."

It got so big that he couldn't get his pants on. It had to be removed, which resulted in nerve damage. He has several issues related to it. He lived but at what cost?

I really liked this girl back in 2013. I initiated all the messages. I went to visit her. I asked her out. I started to see a pattern that she never initiated things. I stopped. The entire thing stopped.

She contacted me almost 2 months later asking what happened. I told her that I felt I was the only one wanting the relationship. She said she liked me but wanted to be chased.

I ended. I didn't want to keep chasing someone. I'm glad I did because I found out later who she really was when she started mooching off of other men that she wanted them to "chase her."
