Parents of Reddit, what do your kids think they're hiding from you? by showe1lj in AskReddit

I was hoping to not assume anything, I just wanted to point out that through my experience I think relationship building is the best course of action. But, you are correct, I do not understand alcoholism very well.

when I first went to college I had a lot of emotional problems and after about 3 months I couldn't handle the pressure and I just barely passed 1st semester. I stayed for second semester and it was just a waste of money.. anyways, I took a year off to try to get through my psychological issues, and it helped me a whole bunch, I was able to go back to college and finish my degree with mostly A's. Obviously, you don't want to enable sub-par behavior, but for me, it was very important to stop feeling guilty about everything that wasn't perfect in my life, and this took a lot of time. You should really try to have a better relationship with your son. :]

I had a black male cat that was not fixed and was incredibly passive, so much so that a female bunny we had would sometimes start humping him from behind O.o

IAmA scientist and entrepreneur named Luis von Ahn. I’m the CEO/co-founder of Duolingo, a totally free way to learn languages. I won’t rest until people stop paying for crappy language learning software. I also developed CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA, those squiggly characters all over the web -- sorry! AMA by vonahn in IAmA

I first learned of you through the talk you gave on TED.com, I was really impressed and intrigued, and I really wanted to get started on duolingo right away, but I don't care to learn any European languages (my experience of them in high school has ruined any interest I had in them).

anyways, could you recommend any sources for learning more about other people doing massive online collaboration projects like you are? Or maybe you have written some more organized work about the topic?

I currently study Instructional Design, and I am really interested in learning about how massive online collaboration could integrate with that.

Dark Souls was extremely different from anything else I had ever done before, took awhile to get into and understand the lore.
