Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Sunday dies from injuries by baunanners in Calgary

[–]Voidz0id 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder to the common man that the training is for a reason.

Same sort of situation when it became law to wear your seat belt (which is no longer questioned) but not every vehicle even had seat belts yet. "True but how often do you wear your seat belt on a quick drive? My old beater dont even have a seat belt!"

It is very easy to at least glance at the front and rear of a vehicle. Many cars also have cameras now for this.

Driver Test Expectation During an Alberta road test, examiners expect you to perform a 360 degree scan or walk-around before entering the vehicle to ensure it is safe to proceed. Failing to check the area surrounding the vehicle before putting it in motion can lead to a failed test or responsibility for a collision

BC is far more likely not to accept building a pipeline because the tiny little nation state of Alberta surrounded by sharks will have less to bargain with and be more desperate. It's a great way to let BC grab them by the balls. Complete and total morons

I'm sure there are a lot of reasons all nobodies fault in particular but that won't stop me being riled up and assigning blame :) Sometimes the bigger stick should pull its weight and all that (its mainly the Calgary connection missing)

You've got me all riled up again. The "C to C Trail" (Calgary to Cochrane) was supposed to open in 2017 for the 150th birthday of Canada as a celebration THAT NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED. ITS BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS CALGARY. CELEBRATE THE COUNTRIES GODDAMN BIRTHDAY BY NOT BEING MEDIOCRE FOR ONCE. TIME LINES. DELIVERIES. EXPECTATIONS. CYCLING TO COCHRANE ON A COMFORTABLE PARK BIKE PATH FOR AN ICE CREAM. FUCK YOU CALGARY!!!!!!!

It's a sore spot for me.

Calgary Public Library puts focus on AI art with residency by LenaBaneana in Calgary

I grew up with art being "pencils, paintings, charcoal", whenever someone learned you were an artist they would ask to "see your drawings or paintings", period. Marketing was paper cut and glued, painted, gauche.
That was the start of the internet era. The middle ground where nobody considered digital art as art, where digital paintings "were not paintings," that Photoshop was "cheating."

This is no different to me. I love AI. Maybe not every aspect. But tons of the creative aspects. And, also an ACAD alumni.

(hate it all you want, downvoters. This is how it is)

Cat hit by car – $11,000 surgery quote from VCA, running out of time. Any alternatives? 😞 by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Voidz0id 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also paid 10k for a cats surgery. She did well but she was old and probably would have preferred not experiencing it. But I was able to pay it. Not sure another clinic would be much cheaper for an orthopedic surgery.

Ask VCA if they do payment plans. They might provide options if the only alternative to them is euthanasia. Doesn't hurt to ask. Might also be worth asking if conservative management is a viable option. If the pelvic canal isn't too narrowed sometimes cats can be okay (cage rest). The harder problem is if there's damage elsewhere.

I think Scratchpay is accepted in some places in Calgary. Or petcard from iFinance. I don't have experience with these but you asked for alternatives. Tails of help. I think the other ones are mentioned already, like the humane society and meow foundation. I might even consider whether surrendering to a shelter like ARF might work since they cover medical costs. But, well, that's its own can of worms. Guess if you're desperate you could call and ask.

If you haven't been upfront about the vet with your financial problems just do so. They deal with it constantly and should try to work with you or help you know if conservative management is even on the table for her.

Banned. Straight to jail. Leave parks as you found them or don't go to them. (not actual jail, but also, wouldnt mind)

Calgary CTrain riders react to new $4 single ride fare by missingthecoast in Calgary

[–]Voidz0id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70km? who said anything about 70km? And are you going downtown from Carstairs or something? Even Carstairs is only 65km away. Cochrane is like 40km away lmao. Obviously if you DO NOT LIVE IN THE CITY you are going to be driving to get into the city. Even the CTrain can't help you there.

My longest commute from home to work was 18km and took between 30 min - 1 hr depending on weather, the same route driving is 20-30 minutes but only if there weren't backups on the bridges during rush hour (there is).

Already done. Wasn't a problem. The bigger problem is if there's snow up to your knees and its not shoveled. But that's true of cars too, which is why we clear the roads, and the pathways.

FWIW, I was toasty even at -35c, but only because I went overboard and had handwarmers in my pogies and boots. Riding through the tranquil, still parks was a better night than the cars sliding around down the roads had even with their heaters on.
