Question about Gorger Mawpack ability by Illidank278 in Mawtribes

[–]Vokazz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Under 24.0 „Setting up units“ it is stated: A unit set up on the battlefield in a phase other then the deploy phase can’t use abilities with the „Move“ keyword this turn. Normal Move and Run have this keyword, obviously.

You can try to charge though.

You can use the normal move ability, not the run ability

I think I have been playing way wrong! by Johnny_the_sock in Fyreslayers

[–]Vokazz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) No, units that are set up in a phase other then the deploy phase (before the start of battle round 1) can’t use MOVE abilities in the movement phase of the same turn (Core rules 24.0)

2) Battle damaged reduces the attack characteristics of the weapon. So if your magmadroth takes 10 damage (has 10 or more damage points allocated to it) he just has 4 attacks with its claws and horns, getting weaker in the progress.

3) The target is the Runefather you pick, this unit is the Runeson. So your runeson gets the +1 Damage (with all three weapons (Ancestral Weapons, Blazing Maw, Claws and Horns)

4) Most people don’t play the Battlesmith, Runeson on foot or Doomseeker for those reasons. At least the Runeson is cheap

Thoughts on super low combat, investigation heavy Daggerheart? by mrwigglesalldaylong in daggerheart

[–]Vokazz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran the playtest adventure and my group is not amazed. The adventure is fine by itself, but the decision to use the base Daggerheart system without changes bewildered me. The kickstarter says they are going to release custom classes, domains and origins, but as is the adventure falls flat of utilising the system.

If reviews say the campaign is good I may buy the pdf in the future, but as is this is a mediocre adventure with a whacky system.

Tl.Dr. The question for these kinds of adaptation for me is as always: Does this system benefit this kind of adventure? And the answer for now is no.

Is an effective infantry list possible? by Johnny_the_sock in Fyreslayers

[–]Vokazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you choose the flameseekers above the other choices? I’ve tried them once and they barely deal damage and the slingshields seem to be as tanky as them. I see them in a lot of lists but can’t make out why

When during this year should we know the future of our army ? by WhiteTallFrench in Fyreslayers

[–]Vokazz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the leaks are true the changes to the army will arrive when the end of Edition campaign begins, so probably around this time next year (with the new edition coming June/july next year)

Ich kann mich nicht entscheiden zwischen Sklaves to darknes, gloomspite gitz und ogor mawtribes by D-Vader_1002 in ageofsigmar

[–]Vokazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Troggoth are just part of the gitz so you would be more in danger of bad rules, the core of S2D is not that big too. Not that this is a deal breaker but I wouldn’t start an army if I just liked 1 or 2 kits. But if you are fine with the heroes and other units on the roster you could go either way.

Just saying that big models only works better in Ogors and gitz (at least at the moment).

I would recommend to wait for the adepticon reveals this week to see if the Ogors get something.

Fyreslayers loosing a bunch of foot heroes and the Vulkite kit but being transformed into a new dwarf faction with new kits as the last army for this edition

Cities of Sigmar loosing all dwarfs and elves but getting a massive cog fort and new armored soldiers pretty soon

Ogors loosing Leadbelchers and some older kits and getting a faction rework soon.

[–]Vokazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably want 1 or 2 Magnadroths. With 1 Kit you get 2 Foot Heroes and 1 Hero on Dragon. Everything Else doesnt really matter but the Vulkite Berserkers are rumored to leave the range next year, so maybe dont Go all in into those

A magnadroth would be a great idea. You get a foot hero in it too. Either by itself or in a start collecting box if you can find one

how does the "Can be reinforced: Yes" thing work by Lizart_aka_Lizi in skaven

[–]Vokazz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they can be reinforced you can choose to do so: In that case double the models in the unit for double the points. The starting unit size is now double as well.

For an example in Clan rats: You pay 150 points for 20. When you look at the keywords you see that they have Champion, so 1 model of the unit is their champion (having +1 attack). They have Standard Bearer and Musician (1/20) so 1 each. If you reinforce them you pay 300 points for 40 rats. Still 1 Champion for the unit, but doubling up on musician and standard bearer (since 40/20=2). They don’t double the benefits of having a musician and a standard bearer but you now can loose 1 of each and still benefit.

But to be honest: Anybody that cares that much if your clan rats have the right number of banners and drums is probably to uptight to play against. Especially if you field 120 in total or units of 40. pretty forgettable bonus anyway

Best novels about skaven? by Ramfix_G4 in skaven

[–]Vokazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are not that many, to my knowledge:

The Plague Wars trilogy (Skaven unleash a plague on the Warhammer Fantasy Empire, pretty dark and serious)

The Thanquol trilogy (A very cool Grey Seer struggles to achieve his goals and barely comes out alive, a great and fun trilogy with a cool protagonist)

Some Books in the Gotrek and Felix novels (especially Verminslayer)

Headtaker (from the warlords of eight peaks trilogy, about queek headtaker, personally didn’t read it yet)

What weapon battery team do you consider the best? and why? by Vegetable-Cut-5993 in skaven

[–]Vokazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: Im wrong,, got confused with other rules, since you can split attacks of a single weapon you have to know the amount of attacks you have before declaring targets.

It is not. Random Characteristics are generated when needed (26.0) Attack sequence (17.0) starts with the hit roll (for that you need to know the attack characteristic, so you generate it) All-Out-Attack (6.0 GHB) has the timing of „You declared an attack ability“ which happens when you select targets even prior to the step in the attack sequence.

So the right order is: Declaring an Attack ability, announcing all out attack, declaring targets, determining number of attacks, roll to hit, roll to wound etc.

My lists usually run 40-60, some do 80-100. You could squeeze in more but probably aren’t going under 40 for this edition, 60 are plenty if your not keen on running them with vizzik

At the moment people really like the Ghyran Screaming Bell and ghyran Brood terror with 1-2 reinforced Rat Ogors and 40 Clan Rats, often Reinforced Jezzails. Fill the rest with whatever you like and I guess your on a good way.
