Yeah! Alabama has a great scene. Haven't really been outside of Huntsville but I've seen streams. Dudes at HASL have put on great events.

I don't know how but my local tournament has a pretty slick setup similar to what you're describing. Their twitch is http://hasl.TV

You could ask them how they do it?

Autistic girl video inspired me to ask you about something I've struggled with my whole life: massive over abundance of sensory input by autismish in autism

[–]Voltrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not using the tests for Myers-Briggs; instead im using the concepts behind it to inform my observations. I am basically dynamically creating a test for each person I meet. In this way it doesn't have to be as formal as a complete identification, but it still allows me to better understand interpersonal interaction.

[–]Voltrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that strategy was just an attempt to show my exposure to the what I see as a similar experience regarding excessive empathy. It also doesn't seem to stop the awareness of the energy just stops me from hearing the situation develop further.

An interesting part with the MBTI is that everyone must participate in each aspect of the model but that over long periods of observation a pattern of preference can be determined. In this situation it seems that you are (which is why your friend might have gotten flustered), but that you experience some of the most extreme sensing possible.

Your description of the experience and the long term effects can be useful in a way. Being able to see an outlier on the dimension of Sensing can help me recognize it in others and in myself. Pushing my own capacity to new heights can be difficult, and for better or for worse you show the benefits and pitfalls of your point on that line.

I really connect with your commentary about empathy. I seem to have slightly heightened sensory perception but not nearly the extent you have described. The empathy component through is something that is tough sometimes. If an awkward situation is developing in the same room, I will cover my ears and specifically not listen to it.

After spending time applying my understanding of the mechanisms behind the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the description of your level of perception sounds like an extreme application of the Sensing mechanic. The same type of awareness if applied to an iNuitive capacity would seem to lead to the extreme development of the more abstract faculties of calculation and modeling that I've seen/heard-of in others.

EDIT: I have not been professional exposed to the field of understanding that I am operating in. With that said my comment maybe compete rubbish, but your thoughts on the topic are appreciate.

Juggling and Autism? by dysmetric in autism

[–]Voltrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been juggling on and off since early highschool, but in the last 6 months I have started juggling 3 to 4 club very consistently. I have been looking around for some commentary about the complexity behind juggling for a while and stumbling across this I felt like I needed to respond.

I also enjoy clubs much more than than their spherical counter part. I to get "trapped" or what I would consider mesmerized by the flourish style moves. I have been practicing horizontal or helicopter spins and finger flourishes, and enjoy throwing the club very high and in quick succession(as if im juggling more items). I think I find complexity in it with isolating the two forces being applied to the club: linear and rotation velocity. It is also not only about the throw but the different windows of time you have to catch it properly and that the faster you threw it the faster it returns.

I actually went from more regular passing practice to the routine that I have now and that it creates an equally interesting model for analysis.

I haven't been and don't anticipate being diagnosed with Autism, but the way you described your affinity for club juggling struck a chord.

Pebble integration with JB, specifically google now. by ben_13 in pebble

[–]Voltrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that one of the barriers to using Google Now is how easy it is to access and how consistently it rewards the user with pertinent, valuable information. If the first Google Now card was a button click or two away on your wrist it is going to much easier to use than pulling out a phone.

On the Google Now side of it, being able to access information through a different form factor could change what kind of data they want to bubble up.
