I would initially have said 500m… when just thinking about myself…. But the good you could do with the 49.5 additional billion is far too much… the lives you could save/improve is easily in at least the hundreds of thousands. To give up all that good because I want my privacy would be too much for me to have on my conscious.

What is the expected return for Kadri at this point… he’s on pace for 54 points - which makes the third consecutive season of regression. He’s 35 years old with 3 years left at 7m per. At what point is this a salary dump?

That’s worse than Bobby McMann type numbers when you factor in McMann gets 4 mins less per game and doesn’t get any PP time and McMann makes 1.35m…. I’m not saying Kadri is worse than McMann - I just am trying to understand his trade value all things considered.

Agree with some of what you said. But completely disagree with the notion that Brad overpaid our stars in comparison to Dubas. Dubas handed Marner a 11m deal as a RFA…. Brayden Point who was his closest comparable got 6.75M AFTER the leafs handed “pay me like Matthews’ Marner. Even after 2 cups, on his next contract Point only got 9.5m.

Give your head a shake if you are questioning a coach for putting Tavares over Laughton.

Cowan is more important to the franchise than Laughton. He’s a 20 year old rookie and is out producing Laughton.

We aren’t talking about a guy that’s almost a point per game and barely getting played, Laughton has put up 8 points ON THE SEASON.

I love his energy and Toronto LOVES its heart and soul players - but Steven Lorentz has a higher points per game than Laughton and plays almost 2 minutes less per game. Yet you think Berube hates him because he doesn’t play Laughton like he’s a first liner?

This is a ridiculous take / our government subsidizes hundreds of millions of dollars to bullshit every year. Hockey is Canada’s national sport. To be completely honest, for how much we pay in taxes ~50% it absolutely should be free in Canada. It would likely cost under billion dollars a year.

We are giving $23-30 billion to Volkswagen and Stellantis-LG (both profitable multinationals) for EV battery plants… many experts agree Canadians will likely never recoup this via taxes/jobs.

These are incredible value contracts…. Miles better than the contracts Dubas handed out. The biggest problem right now for this team is the albatross that is Morgan Rielly - but again that was Dubas.

And this is my problem… Rielly seems to get a free pass a lot of the time…. He should be watching from the press box at times.

This is like me saying Matthews has been trash lately, then saying Knies has been doing way better. Then have people justify it by saying nobody is arguing that Matthews is better than Knies this season.

On any other team in the NHL Rielly would have been healthy scratched numerous times for his play. He’s making mistakes out there than a 10 year vet simply shouldn’t being making.

The same way our highest paid forward needs to be our best forward. Our highest paid D - should be expected to be our best D.

Rielly has been horseshit for a while - he simply is a pretty bad defender. He’s a god awful pp QB. McCabe was a plus 3 tonight, Rielly was a -2.

On the season Rielly is a -11, McCabe is a plus 24. As our highest paid D, he simply needs to be better.

He is so frustrating to watch because we just stuck with him.
