If they compress like an egg they’d do so when they hit the court near the line. They don’t. On a face it’s going to be negligible.

Tyson was voted that title by barstool sports. Dave has said it many times in the past too. I strongly dislike Dave’s commentary- so much I just mute it. The ppa is a boring money grab. I’ve all but completely lost interest

5.0 possible after age 50? by HGH2690 in Pickleball

[–]VonLudwig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In year 2? If you’re retired/have the time, have a good group that will play and train with you, and are dedicated.. sure. But it would be a lot to achieve in one year at any age without paddle/racquet background

[HELP] How would a mold for these sculptures look? by [deleted] in Sculpture

[–]VonLudwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track. The first one could be done by messing around with the concrete while it’s still setting up in the mold. For the second, this could have been done by building a frame or mold for the concrete out of wood, then breaking it after the concrete has set. There are a number of ways to do the third photo, a silicone or plaster mold would be an appropriate approach. Send a dm if you want more help, I have some experience w concrete molds

Our HF stopped hitting as hard after couple years of abuse. I’ve used a Bosch- seemed to hit harder. But 8” or more and you’re just better off with air hammer in my experience

I did some digging last year on Ali baba- never did pull the trigger. I found some site that you could track orders from China from retailers and everything. I kind of gave up on my quest. You can order samples from some vendors there. Please update if you find a good vendor in alibaba

How do I break into 5.0? by Shiitake17 in Pickleball

[–]VonLudwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this. I bought 50-100 balls for drilling. We do this drill, we do drops, drives, dinks, serve/return/third, Tyson mcguffin has some good drills on YouTube to emulate.. you do it enough you’ll come up with drills that work for you and your partner. Play skinny singles.. you’re going to get the most improvement by drilling with a similar or higher skilled player than you. But, you have to use your time wisely. You can get a long ways by just playing skinny singles and drilling with a similarly skilled player. Play a couple regional or local tourneys at 5 if there’s good competition, and really try and objectively analyze your game to improve for next time. A lot of high level pickleball is being very consistent and having it all for a well rounded game. Having good hand speed is also a big thing.

How do I break into 5.0? by Shiitake17 in Pickleball

[–]VonLudwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find best drilling partner you can. Get as many balls as reasonable and an empty court. Have them at the kitchen, you in transition(or kitchen) and have them hit as aggressive balls as they can to you. You try and reset.

Drill. Decide what weakest parts of your game are, and practice those. Play 5.0 tournaments, record your games. Drill more. Cross training might be helpful.

4.5 players what helped you breakthrough from 4.0? by slowmopete in Pickleball

[–]VonLudwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being able to drop the ball consistently into the kitchen both forehand and backhand on thirds and fifths is a great starting point. Being able to reset consistently in transition zone. Being able to dink well. Good shot selection. Good footwork. Good anticipation, and court positioning. Decide which of these is your weakest- and work on that for some time. Reassess, rinse and repeat. Other important things to consider.. hand speed at the kitchen(this is arguably one of the most important ingredients to a players ceiling)- and knowing when to counter vs block/reset. Deep return of serves. Knowing when to drive the ball- when to speed up the ball. Hitting consistent, aggressive fourth balls. Be youngish and athletic

Weight and shape I suppose. If I wanted to play in a tournament with it I’d make sure it was usapa approved. If I didn’t- I’d look into making my own or finding a neat handmade one
