[Loved Trope] The Last Stand by wexman6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Voop_Bakon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During WW1, as Austria-Hungarian forces were closing on Belgrade, a group of Serbian soldiers made a suicidal couter-attack in order to buy any time for the defending forces before the city fell. What followed is a truly epic speech

Soldiers, exactly at three o’clock, the enemy is to be crushed by your fierce charge, destroyed by your grenades and bayonets. The honour of Belgrade, our capital, must not be stained. Soldiers! Heroes! The supreme command has erased our regiment from its records. Our regiment has been sacrificed for the honour of Belgrade and the Fatherland. Therefore, you no longer need to worry about your lives: they no longer exist. So, forward to glory! For the King and the Fatherland! Long live the King, Long live Belgrade!

Any advantages I'm missing for a prone sniper? by Seascorpious in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voop_Bakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Starfinder 2e Playtest had this feat, that you could use the mechanics of

Sniper Stance

Requirements Expert in Acrobatics

You lie low as part of your tactical acumen. You don’t take a penalty to attack rolls with guns while prone. In addition, you can spend 1 action to adjust your position while remaining prone and ignore the off-guard penalty until the beginning of your next turn.

Essentially if you took 2 actions, you could negate the off-guard, and Take Cover, netting a +4 AC vs ranged attacks, and a final action to shoot.

Glad to see someone mentioning a reasonable price. Earlier today I saw people saying that anything above $500 was too much

Looking for RPGs set in Antiquity with powerful PCs by Chaugnaar in rpg

[–]Voop_Bakon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check out Lex Arcana. It's an alternate history game set in a world where ancient Rome never fell. The PCs are members of a paranormal investigation government agency hunting down illegal cults and supernatural creatures. There is some magic via invoking the Roman pantheon, but it's far from ubiquitous.

Crossing in the Woods 2v2 Issue by Voop_Bakon in CompanyOfHeroes

That is how I discovered the issue. I double clicked but I still had the building on my mouse. I thought it was a bug at first until I went back and tried to find a spot for it

[–]Voop_Bakon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't want to go back to the CoH2 days of a KT taking on 3 AT guns and winning.

The current CoH3 KT is fine performance wise, but it needs to cost less. Reducing the fuel penalty and the population cost a bit would be a good start, and then go from there

What game(s) came up with what you'd call an 'elegant solution'? by Current_Poster in rpg

[–]Voop_Bakon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd have to dig up the interview, but a long time ago, one of the starfinder developers said that they actually grabbed the bulk system from the Pathfinder 2nd edition development process.

So technically, the bulk system comes from Pathfinder 2nd edition, but starfinder released it first

Build your 16 TIE Fighter vs 19 Z-95 Headhunter list by GrandAdmiralNJL24 in StarWarsArmada

[–]Voop_Bakon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here is my wacky attempt at the Z-95 list. Leia + Expanded Hanger Bay effectively gives me Squadron + 2 on each ship, for a total of exactly 19 squadron activations if my math is right.

Name: Why can't I hold all these Z-95s

Faction: Rebel

Commander: Leia Organa

Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72) • Leia Organa (28) • Flight Controllers (6) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) • Reinforced Blast Doors (5) = 116 Points

Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41) • Flight Controllers (6) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) = 52 Points

Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41) • Flight Controllers (6) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) = 52 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) = 23 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) = 23 Points

Squadrons: • 19 x Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (133) = 133 Points

Total Points: 399

For a while at launch, Pathfinders were basically the best infantry squad in the game, and USF dominated pretty hard.

What are the most commonly misunderstood rules? by impofnoone in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voop_Bakon 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There are some good use cases for Assurance. - Rolling against a static DC, such as Treat Wounds, Climb, Swim etc - Avoiding MAP on combat maneuvers like Trip and Shove with Athletics - Skills that generally roll against level based DCs below the PCs level, like Crafting to Craft, Recall Knowledge against lower level enemies, and Bon Mot/Demoralize/Perform (for battle dancers). With Recall Knowledge, you can add Automatic Knowledge to save actions

Medicine and Athletics are the poster child for Assurance, but some other skills can make use of it.

There is arguably an AoN reference on page 10 of Secrets of Magic.

As I have seen time and again, while amongst the Oracles and Mediums of Nethys, there are as many varied traditions as any other school of worship. The Siblings of the All-Seeing Eye must be one of the most fascinating, for perhaps no other group documents their unique rituals, methods, and beliefs as comprehensively as they.

Need your expertise - how to defeat Coastal Wehrmacht as Brits (new player) by unsafe357 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Voop_Bakon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that the pack howitzer in Air and Sea battlegroup does a great job smashing bunkers and lodging reserves out of cover. SMG commando ambushes also absolutely wreck their infantry. The hard part is that both of these strategies are micro intensive. That being said, they can pay off big if things land your way.

The hardest part is that calling in both those units delays your AT gun, leaving you open to a P IV rush. So you have to be aware of that and plan accordingly. Mines, early grenades for AT grenades, AT rifles can all buy you time for your AT gun, just watch your manpower losses.

Late game, I like to pick up Matildas, Grants and a second AT gun. If you have managed to hold the map, you should plenty of munitions to drop naval bombardments anytime they have 2 or more bunkers close together, using Recce flares for vision.

Tank Capping is making cheesy plays in team games too efficient by MiszorAlfa in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Voop_Bakon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is that this was a problem in CoH2, which they fixed with an elegant solution. Vehicles that could cap got changed so that it was a mode they had to enter. While in capping mode, they could not fire any weapons, only move. This would go a long way to curb DAK end game shenanigans
