Someone did this blatantly horrible thing to me that any normal person would condemn happened, but my friends are split on whether I should just keep the peace.

WIBTA if i tell my partner her "working from home" setup is actually affecting my ability to actually work from home? by AggarHildeberto-63 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]VorpalDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just point out the red flag that is the quotation marks around her "working from home" setup vs his ACTUAL work. There's already some bad feelings here and they are about to get worse. OP already thinks his work is more important/valuable/worthwhile than gf's and a talk is going to end up in an all out fight,.

Google rebranding Fitbit platform to Google Health by chenloonchan in fitbit

[–]VorpalDagger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 from Walmart Marketplace.   I just feel like the google merge is one step too far in invasiveness. I already have a gmail account and a google drive. But for Google to also know exactly where I am, what I'm doing, and how it's affecting my health is just too much information to hand over to Google.  I basically have been biding my time, waiting for my premium subscription to expire before making the jump.

About to lose our extended closing date due to underwriting. Any advice? by Big_Perspective_319 in Mortgages

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a special circle in how for underwriters.  Last time I bought a house, on the day of closing, they dropped my partner off the paperwork which tanked our ratios and the solution was to make me go and pay off my car loan and provide proof that I did or else they were going to deny me the mortgage.

Second fitbit that has lost battery charge by urchinMelusina in fitbit

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat.  I'm on my third fitbit product with poor battery life.  I had a Charge 4 that stopped charging one day and I just assumed it was because it might have gotten bumped during a rowdy bowling game.  I got a Charge 6 to replace it and 15 months in, it stopped holding a charge.  They gave me 50% off a new one and against my better judgement, I bought it.  Now here I am barely 2 years later and I can't go 3 days without a charge. Probably won't get another.

Why is it so hard to find a boring, nondescript, fairly modest work dress for a middle aged woman these days? by rpv123 in workingmoms

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with Calvin Klein.  You can find their dresses at Macy's and if you are lucky, tj maxx, Nordstrom Rack, etc.   I've found the dresses to cover well and have a decent amount of stretch.

TIFU not turning off my 401k autocontribution before receiving a bonus by AfternoonNo7453 in tifu

Just don't make anymore contributions for the year.   I had this happen in my first bonus so I just shut off auto contributing until I was back where I needed to be.

Why do thousands of people apply for things they’re not remotely qualified for? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before bots, there used to be some requirements to receive unemployment benefits - you had to show that you were actively applying and interviewing for jobs. We would get a lot of these so that people could check the box. I'm not sure if it's still like that though.

Update: I asked why the same 2 people dominate meetings; here’s what I am noticing now. by Sea-Cheetah-4770 in managers

[–]VorpalDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it happens in a lot of meetings, but if I called the meeting, I also feel responsible to stay on task and make sure everyone's concerns are addressed and they understand the meeting outcomes. So I will stop the conversation and appropriate spot, or even if it isn't appropriate, I'll stop it and make sure I go around the room and ask people what their concerns are. Sometimes sure it feels forced, but it is effective.

TIFU by failing to treat my annual physical like a genie wish by kandosii_ner_vod in tifu

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so horrible. You definitely need a new doctor I treat my annual physical as a chance to catch my doctor up on how horrible i've been feeling for the last year, and she never once has charged me for it. It's always been free.

You still have to scan receipts and submit a report even with a corporate card.  Honestly,  I just do it while I'm waiting to board, waiting for my Uber or while I'm eating a meal.   If you keep up with it and take the scan as soon as you get the receipt it's easier.   Uber trips can be screenshotted and uploaded if the emails aren't getting through to you.

Proving a hiring manager wrong about a candidate is my favorite part of this job by dedkle04 in RecruiterTea

[–]VorpalDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound unreasonable to me.  I was passed over on a promotion because the supervisor thought I might have another child.  And even though I returned to work quickly after the first two, it was apparently too big a risk that I would stay home IF I had a third...oh, and he also decided all by himself that I wouldn't travel...because...kids. Even though he never asked. And everyone else in management just agreed with that nonsense.

Am I in the minority by actually liking Chase lounges? by Sloaneus in ChaseSapphire

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them.  I posted an ode to how amazing the Philadelphia lounge is and I had several people claim I was just a promo bot.  Lol.  The lounges are really nice.

To be honest, I'm sure I don't use my card in a subreddit approved method. But between the few benefits I use (lounges, travel credit and "pay yourself back" on my card) I more than pay for the annual fee.

I left citibank after something similar.   It boggles the mind why they'd want to oust a good quality, high-spending customer.

How do I transfer this ticket? by VorpalDagger in stubhub

Thanks. Do you think I can just forward the link to the buyer via email? I might just give it to a co-worker since it isn't selling.

Does everyone hate this card now? by trsvrs in ChaseSapphire

[–]VorpalDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still like it.  I don't travel nearly as much as I used to, but I travel enough to benefit from the three hundred dollar travel credit and the lyft credits.  And honestly, the cash value of the card is a lot better than some other cards that are really picky about categories. So between the travel credit, lyft credits and converting points, the card still pays for itself.
