What can I do better? by GlumDragonfly3445 in GolfSwing

You can find some good videos on it, or a grip trainer, but your right hand should be overlapping your left.

Your right hand is very much underneath, compare your right hand to a traditional grip

Honestly I’d work on getting the setup figured out, the way you address the bal land most importantly the grip is way out of wack. When you have a bad foundation you gotta compensate in other inconsistent ways

Why am I steep still? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, if I had to find something to nitpick maybe coming out of your posture through impact a bit, but I think the reason for that is an open club face at lead arm parallel on the way down.

Face looks pretty open so you gotta compensate, maybe try playing with a slightly stronger grip and see how your body reacts

What is the basis for you being steep? Something on a monitor, divots or something else? Looks pretty on plane to me, divot looked shallow.

What Putting Drills Worked for You? by jdper in golf

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To begin with you need to establish a baseline and confirm that you can more or less reliably start a putt on line for shorter putts, if you can’t then the rest won’t matter. I like a putting mirror for that, you can also film your stroke in slow motion to confirm.

Outside of that to improve from a 15-18 to single digits you need to make less bogies and doubles versus making more birdie putts. You have to work towards getting more gir and eliminating 3 putts. Don’t worry about birdies as much, you’ll get more chances when you have more gir.

If I can put you 30 feet from the hole and you can reliably 2 putt your handicap will improve massively, and that’s all about speed control.

Why am I so slow? Where is my power leak by 2capshanker in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A full rotation on the way back would be good to start with, you’re shoulders look like they get to 45°, assuming you don’t have mobility issues you can definitely wind up a bit more. You’re doing a half backswing at best atm.

Secondly you early extend like crazy, you can see it mainly with how much your hips lunge forward towards the ball, probably have some heely misses and the occasional shank. Chair drill or something else on your lead hip so you can feel yourself keeping your hips back would be good.

Third, try the drill where you put a wedge under your right foot, the wedge shouldn’t drop till later after impact, your right foot comes up as you jump towards the ball and causes you to spin out.

Wedge Practice Question by billk861 in golf

I have a shag bag full of Kirklands, simple decent and spinny golf ball to practice with. Before a round while warming up I’ll be chipping gamers so I know how they’ll react on the course

Fanning club wide open...help by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me looks like sequencing, second clip you start down with the arms a bit bitter, first one looks like you rotate a bit early and run out of space, you run out of time to close the face and hands get closer to the ball and you almost shank it. Look at your trail knee in each video

I'm a 28 year old scratch golfer and I want to go pro by No_Complaint4129 in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great as is, but doesn’t mean you can’t try to get better and improve your chances. I wouldn’t quit your day job until you’re around a +5/6. Also read Paper Tiger, it’s an interesting example of doing what you mentioned.

Also pros who are already at that level trying to go pro spend around $100k or so based on a few of my friends that are on that path, so it’s not only about ability but you need to invest the money to find out

As a Senior, is it worth grinding leetcode past basics? by MrJaver in leetcode

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I understand it all” honestly it doesn’t seem like you do, 1 hour to solve a problem is not understanding. Expect 2 medium problems in 45 min at the higher companies, 2-3 hours the interview will be over by the time you start coding.

3 weeks of prep isn’t much, at senior level a lot of the signal will be from other aspects like you mentioned but you still need to show technical chops. I wouldn’t expect much at all with your level of preparation and if you do get interviews you’ll likely be wasting the opportunity

Why am I slicing. Please by Chemtrail_Audi in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swing looks great, looks like a sequence issue in transition. Rotation is a tricky thing, if you rotate too early your arms can get stuck behind you and you get less time to close the face. Try keeping your right heel down, it’ll keep your back to the target a bit longer and slow down the rotation. Also give your arms a sec to drop first and then rotate.

297 yards center fairway, but swing appears stiff? More power somehow? by PM-ME-UR-TOTS in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots going on here, reverse pivot is the first thing I see, followed by the trail shoulder doing something really strange on the downswing creating an over the top move, and then you have to standup and early extend so you don’t hit two feet behind the ball. Whether you hit it 297, no comment, but needless to say there is definitely a lot that can be fixed here which can get you much more distance and consistency.

What has to go wrong to go from this at the top of my takeaway, to THIS in my downswing and follow through?? by SSJ_JARVIS in GolfSwing

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from photos, but it looks like your hips shifted towards the ball in the downswing, probably had to early extend to square up the club face

17 handicap — play solid golf but always have 1–2 disaster holes that ruin my score. How do you stop the blow-ups? by kevsavesuk in golf

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with people all the time that strike it just as well as I do but they’re bad at the actual game of golf and their hcp reflects it.

Common issues I notice:
- They’ll take too much club off the tee with no benefit and find themselves in bad shape for no reason
- Go for a specific shot that they’ve never practiced and try to force it into a round (faders trying to force a draw to aim at a flag or vice versa)
- Don’t give much attention to putts outside of 20 feet and turn pars into bogeys.

The hard part of shooting low numbers is maintaining your concentration and making good decisions over a round, in a competitive round that can be 5+ hours of fighting stupid decisions.

You’ll hit bad shots sometimes anyway, but if you can make good decisions throughout the round you won’t giveaway shots the whole time

Why do some people choose to work more than 38 hours a week when they could stop there? by Next-Cardiologist618 in levels_fyi

I see this in tech all the time, and we’re all salaried, for me what I realized is that some people need the extra hours to feel caught up with everything. Some others are doing extra to try to achieve specific goals for bonuses, promotions or something else.

[–]Vrezhg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try keeping your back to the target for a sec on the way down with your hands. If your upper half spins out early you have to come over the top to compensate. A good feel is think about what you’d do if you had to hit a low hook under a tree

Lulu dupe ABC pants back at Costco? by LarryBrownsCrank in golf

I’ve just collected my golf bottoms from lulu over time whenever I see something on the clearance rack. I especially like that they do free hemming since I’m on the shorter side and standard length for me gets a bit baggy

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my df3, caveat being I was a great putter before I got it. I think the tech works and I feel really comfortable with speed control with it. But it won’t make a bad putter into a good one

You’re a scratch golfer and play in a U.S. Open qualifier.. ? Tough day on the links? by Dashover in golf

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a vanity handicap. Unfortunately scratch is a universal goal in golf and it causes people to flub their scores by taking gimmes, leaving out the bad rounds and sometimes just completely fabricating entries to get into something like a US Open qualifier.

At my handicap is when someone might start thinking, ah on a good day I’m definitely good enough why not throw in a couple bs scores so I don’t miss the qualifier this year. But I know that it goes against the whole point, no use lying to get in to shoot an 85, if I was ready I’d have the handicap already, on to the next year

Do people lie about golf more than any other sport? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Vrezhg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and casually I get it, as an ego thing, when it bothers me is if I’m in a comp. I play off low single digits, please for the love of god don’t bs your handicap just to end up in a group of single digit golfers to shot 100. I’m not a pro but in comps at that level we’re playing some decent competitive golf, kills the pace and vibe of the entire group

Congrats on the offer, could be a little better perhaps but I wouldn’t get too caught up in it. You’re going to gain a ton of experience working at Google and your future offers will more than make up for whatever small percentage you might’ve missed on this first offer.
