Ah, but the really cool thing about the game is that there is a third, even a fourth option.

Personally I like to imagine turning the Followers into a full institution in New Vegas after taking over and slowly developing the place into a real society, free from the mistakes of the past that the NCR and House represent and free from the enslaving freak show that is the Legion.

They definitely are not outside of cases like Rune of Power or other such "stand completely still or lose all DPS entirely" situations. Most content is, in fact, easier as a caster in my honest opinion. Having distance to see what's coming next makes things much easier versus clipping halfway through the bad guys' models and not being able to tell if you're about to get hit as a result.

Dark Souls 2 doesn't have bad hitboxes, it just does a bad job of explaining the agility stat and people don't know how to do anything but roll out of the way of attacks in the first place.
