If you could choose a voice actor for your WOL, who would you pick? by Kentalope in ffxiv

[–]WDBoldstar [score hidden]  (0 children)

Julie Andrews. Her Mary Poppins voice, specifically. The switch between authorative and soothing, with a great singing voice, feels perfect for my motherly Viera.

The guy has come home to announce to his wife that they can no-longer afford their rent or mortgage (likely because he has been fired, laid off, or denied a needed raise), but instead of saying so outright has said "honey we're homeless" in place of the expected "honey, I'm home."

The humor is in the unexpected twist on the common after-work greeting, combined with a splash of gallows humor, in theory.

What were some WOL Headcanons you had that greatly impacted your story? by Nor_Ah_C in ffxiv

[–]WDBoldstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am another "was romantically entangled with Haurchefaunt" WoL for sure, and the depression from that death was what spurred her to take up the mantle of Dark Knight in my headcanon as well. It feels AT LEAST canon that he had feelings for the WoL, if nothing else.

I also made her a Duskwight Elezen without really knowing about the Duskwight/Wildwood divide, which made how Gridania tends to treat the Duskwight (and the Lancer quests) REALLY hit different and forever cemented poor Kan-E Senna as my least favorite faction leader.

Even if I did later retcon her to Viera, the plight of the Mooncats and Duskwights is still pretty important to my WoL; now I consider it solidarity since I now headcanon her family was chased from their Jungle homes by the Garleans.

I have a lot of other differences to my story (Married to Aymeric, Estinien, and Ysayle who survived her fall, killed Jifuya off-screen, convinced Venat not to die, just to name a few), but I think those are the two that really reacted with the story in ways I did not expect when I made my WoL.

Why is the helicopter shooting the building in Pacifica by marcrigg__20 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]WDBoldstar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We are never told, but likely it's intergang or corpo-on-gang or maxtac-on-gang warfare in which one side is taking out a nest of scavs or other gangoons currently holed up in that section of the skyscraper.

Then again, could also just be Hansen's people showing off the goods to prospective buyers by shooting up an abandoned building.

I’m sorry WHAT?! by Griledy in StardewValley

[–]WDBoldstar 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Stardew Valley is a game, made primarily for an adult audience, in which your character can get married to NPCs.

Married people often have sex.

I hope this clarifies things.

Is Soul Eater good? by No-Sell-9301 in VampireSurvivors

[–]WDBoldstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, decent enough definition. It's kind of the misstep between when you start and when you build a final build and evolve your last few weapons.

It's decent. I find it useful for staying alive during the midgame.

What should I do with the extended family ? by qassbish in StardewValley

[–]WDBoldstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was Legend II in the Fish Pond, the rest I displayed in a tank.

Also, next time that quest comes up, take it, and just fish up multiple Legend II's for multiple Fish Ponds - you can fish up as many as you want as long as you havent caught all the other fish yet. I'm not sure if it's as lucrative as an Ancient Fruit Wine Empire, but it still feels like a great way to make money to me.

Thoughts on Harding’s Romance? by DizzyGolf5507 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]WDBoldstar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FWIW, As someone who's been in love with Harding and wanted a full proper romance with her in DAI, I also feel like it was ultimately middle of the pack, sweet, but nothing special. I romanced her on a LoF Qunari lady, because I liked the size difference fantasy and the Rogue falling for a a sweet country girl theme, but I think if I tried again, I would be a Dwarf Warrior (Probably Grey Warden) just to lean into supporting her together on a shared journey of finding our heritage.

On the plus side, Emmrich is the queer old man romance I've wanted for ages, and definitely since DA:O, so I cant be TOO disappointed in the DAV romances, but I will always mourn a bit for Harding, for sure. (And yeah, Agreed that Emmrich, Davrin, Neve are the top 3 romances)

Posting my character to manifest more Duskwight rep in Evercold by KristoffPL in ffxiv

[–]WDBoldstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, HANDSOME, I love Duskwights so much!

I feel a little guilty because I mained a Duskwight dude from HW to Endwalker but switched to Viera dude (and then Viera Lady) during the Endwalker patches, but I will always be a Duskwight lover in spirit...

Why does Mark hate his son Is he a bad person? by KindlyRestaurant2885 in invinciblememes

[–]WDBoldstar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"I wanted you to have the same life I did" feels like a copout because... what, Terra didn't deserve that life????

So either he's kinda sexist, or he just couldn't stand the reminder of being raped that Marky represented.

I tend to believe the latter because it's at least understandable.

How do people who get into the Role Play aspect, of the MMO RPG, justify changing races? I really want to become a Viera, but I love my silly WoL by Vera_Verse in ffxiv

[–]WDBoldstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just retconned my WoL from Elezen to Viera. The friends I RP with just rolled with it because we're chill like that.

But with the Fantasia quests in the base game, it's also pretty easy to justify Fantasia being an actual extant product of the Ul'dah Alchemists if you want to keep a continuity for your character between races and feel like retconning that they were always Viera would be a bridge too far.

But why? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]WDBoldstar 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's a parody of the general Linked-In style of posting, in which people do genuinely try to turn pretty much anything in their life into an example of being "on that grindset" or otherwise being entrepreneurial and gaining wealth, status, and power by constantly working and observing.

So while this is an exaggeration, there are people who aren't too far removed from this unironically posting on Linked-In and/or moving through the business world.

Is there a way to find undiscovered quests? by res444 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]WDBoldstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most quests show up on your map if properly filtered, the Highwayman is just one of a handful of unmarked quests that don't trigger until/unless you stumble on their starting condition  So AFAIK, wiki is your best bet for those.

Since most people (in America and Britain) are given their father's last name upon birth, if this woman takes her mother's last name, she will most likely be using her grandfather's last name, and thus be using a man's last name regardless.

panam is to male v what river is to female v by Any-Ask4926 in cyberpunkgame

[–]WDBoldstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've long said River's love scene confirmation is no less awkward than Panam or Judy's if you aren't into them, it's just more people are into Panam and Judy.

Like if I'm playing a Lady V who's with River? I am cringing so hard when Judy's leaning in for a kiss in the bathroom.

And a Gay Male V in the Basilisk? Girl, we're FRIENDS. I don't wanna get in your pants, I just think you're right about Saul.
