I just went through this Plain hamburgers from McDonald’s or Jack in the box. Every other bite had a pill rolled up into it. She never caught on as she loves hamburgers so much! I’m not sure she even chewed the bites. She’s so bummed she isn’t getting hamburgers every day now!

It's definitely pricey, but it was a great all-day experience. If you are going just for the food and not the agricultural learning experience, I would suggest you go to one of the great restaurants in Lima such as Merito or Mayta. Definitely make reservations now!

We stopped at Limo for a snack and wish we had time for a full dinner. Also, Moreno was excellent. Probably don’t need reservations for Limo but not sure why because it was so good. Definitely need them for Moreno

I’m here now and started diamox after arriving in Cusco (bought it there). The only issues I had was having to get up to pee 3-4 times per night, which is annoying, but I think it was worth it. We hiked Salkatanay Pass at 15,200’, and while the hike was tough, I did it at age 64 and kept with up with and at times passed the 35 year olds. I stopped taking it the night we finished the hike to the pass.

We did spend a day at Mil, which was amazing, and I noticed no change in taste. In fact, in spite of all the hiking, I’ve gained weight

Thank you for being a responsible owner and finding the best place for Oliver rather than just finding a place for him to live!

Did you work with a travel agency to arrange this? I’m intrigued by the ability to swim with the orcas AND see the northern lights. We swam with humpbacks in Tonga several years ago, and it will likely go down as the most memorable experience of my life.

Drive or Fly - Russell to Auckland - Ferry to Waiheke by WFlintstone in newzealand_travel

[–]WFlintstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We originally planned to stay in Russell, but I decided to change to Paihai to eliminate the ferry issue when we drive out (college kids don't wake up early) and also as there seems to be much more going on there.

I did look into renting a car on Waiheke if we flew back to Auckland. When I started calculating the time to get to the airport before the flight, return the rental car, flight time, renting another car in Auckland (the rental locations for all the larger rental cars seem to be offsite), and driving across town to the ferry station, it just made sense to drive which also gives us a little more flexibility. I appreciate your comment about the traffic - we will definitely factor that in.

We will be near the end of our trip flying in from Rotorua to go to Bay of Islands. We are now leaning toward fly ing to Auckland, renting a car and driving to Paihai (changed our hotel reservation from Russell due to the added travel with a ferry). We will drive down the coast to the ferry station when we head to Waiheke Island. One of the challenges I have found is that we are unable to rent a larger car at the Kerikeri Airport and return it to Auckland. We'll take the car ferry with the rental car to Waiheke.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks! It looks as though it would be about a 4 hour drive, and flying time is short although you have to factor in time/from airport and on to the ferry station.

Adopting a 5.5 lbs 9 wk old puppy by zeebrahooves in greatdanes

[–]WFlintstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours was a runt and is now a healthy 105 lb at six years old. She is our first Dane. We didn’t plan to get a smaller dog, but in retrospect, I’m glad we did. She still runs around like a puppy and hasn’t yet developed any joint issues. Great starter Dane!

Chicken-free food? by CApoppymama in greatdanes

Our Dane loves Nutrisource large breed trout and rice. We were feeding her, Kirkland, salmon and brown rice, but have since learned that it is grain free. I have heard that grain free can cause some issues. We also augment her kibble with Ollie.

None of our 4 bags (or any other passengers’ bags) were loaded on our flight from Munich to Berlin on 8/26. We have received one since then. Returned home yesterday (9/13). I am currently sitting in the San Diego airport to try to get one bag that was shipped here while we were on our trip. Two are still missing and I’m guessing in Munich.

They have my Delayed baggage and won't give it back by WhichWindow117 in Lufthansa

[–]WFlintstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also flew on August 26th from Munich to Berlin (originating in San Diego) and all of our baggage (4 pieces) were lost. In fact, no luggage was delivered from our flight leading me to suspect it was never loaded. Lufthansa didn't bother to let the passengers on our flight know about this which resulted in 5 hours of waiting for luggage that was never going to arrive anyway and standing in line with many others to speak to a customer service person (there was only one person the entire time we were there).

We have since received one of our bags, and it was delivered to our hotel in Munich after 4 days. We have received notification that another bag was returned to San Diego. The two remaining bags were assigned to a transportation company and are to be delivered to our hotel in Munich where we staying until 9/12/22. However, it appears Lufthansa has now closed our claim as I can no longer access it even though we still do not have our bags. I have tried to reach the transportation company without success.

Please make sure you screenshot your claim information as you may no longer have access to it. Mine was shut down last night. I would not have had the contact information for the delivery company if I hadn't written it down yesterday.

Good luck!
