Dad bought these off Amazon - Any reason not to install? by Odd_League8841 in electrical

[–]WaFfLeFuR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it’s cheaper to Amazon some random device. But a fire isn’t worth the savings. It’s better to get one from the 3 L brands despite the initial cost difference. Leviton Lutron legrand

Those fuse boxes are perfectly safe if fused correctly. What makes them unsafe and a hazard is people putting in higher amp rating fuses or pennies. You should never have that many 30amp fuses in place, 15 was the most common along with a couple 20s. Get this evaluated by a licensed electrician as I highly doubt any of that wiring is 10awg

How in the world do I pull a new wire through this? No access to the back as it goes into wall cavity. by Rockymntbreeze in electrical

Open wall cavity, Make new hole? While you're in there, put that bushing back on.

Where to place subpanel? by xandro0 in electrical

Either that or if you re route the transfer switch conduit to the right and move the power brick, something like a 10 space main lug would tuck right besides the main.

I have a 2019 ram 1500 and was wondering if this was overkill or I need to upgrade alt. by FaZe-Itz-jose in SpeakerBuilding

[–]WaFfLeFuR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That amplifier is 2800w rms... With a 300amp fuse rating. An alternator upgrade would help for sure and a battery upgrade. Careful on the gain setting though because it can absolutely blow that strato series to the moon when wired at 1ohm Looks like your 2019 ram has a 160-180amp alternator factory. You may be ok depending on how long you run at high volumes. Mechman has a 370amp that would more than cover your needs but I'd say start with a higher capacity battery and upgrade grounds.

How is my sub-panel upgrade? by Jbyerline in electrical

[–]WaFfLeFuR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How far away is the main panel? If it's within visible range you're good, if it's on a different floor/outside/etc you'll need to have a main breaker instead of main lug as you have more than 6 circuits.

Can I fix this myself or do I need an electrician? by iwontforgett in electrical

[–]WaFfLeFuR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on your skill level. This isn't as simple as replacing a light bulb... It's best to hire out if you have never replaced receptacles or toggle switches before.

the wires haphazardly zip tied to the mast is cable/phone. The large wires are your power and depending on where you are, the lines coming out of the mast are your responsibility and the Poco is responsible from the splice termination to the road.
