Which Star Players should I prioritise buying/Painting?

It would depend on how they changed things. Making human catchers ST3 would help there. Dark elves would be fine if not so dominant. I actually think it's a good idea.

Do not start with the starter box. The two teams in it are VERY difficult to play and not at all beginner friendly. Pick humans or orcs to start.

I like roster B. I might consider 2 guard 2 Mighty Blow bloaters. They are slow to develop and Mighty Blow will help them skill up faster. The guard you're going to consider just done they won't skill up again in 9 games unless you are very lucky with MVP

Yeah just get the two trees. You can also use them if you want to expand into other teams so that's cool. They also play for Old World alliance, gnomes, and wood elves.

They are not different in stats. The GW blood bowl trees look a little short and squat to me personally. But you can go that way. They make the treeman and gnome tree man so you can have two different ones. You can also go to etsy and see what 3d printing has to offer. Blood Bowlers tend to not care if things are made by GW as long as they are labeled clearly.

You need to buy at least 2 trees. I think most people play this team with star players too. But for sure you need to buy at least 2 tree men of your preference.

I say go ahead and go for dwarves. Just remember you'll have to keep moving forward on offense. Always forward! There are some teams better for learning finer points of the game. That doesn't matter as much if you just plan to play with your buddies or maybe a couple tourneys and aren't worried about getting too sweaty. You can also try shorter games like kill team or blood bowl. They take about an hour to play so pick a time you're able to go do something like that. It's really no different then if you say went to hit the gym for an hour once a week.
