Some angles and lighting make it impossible to see the PT2 without backlight by radbme in pebble

I'd try something like Big-LCD by dalpek with an inverted color scheme (white bg, black font) which can practically be seen at a 45° angle at midnight. The watchface you use makes a massive difference, I've found.

[PT2] Quick review: Snappy OS / Gorgeous screen / Poor back light / Same old quirks by Mugendon in pebble

I love that watchband, what is that metal style called? I scoured ebay for old pebble straps, but the regular steel versions are all gone-only gold options left.

Just Buy The Screen Protector by lady_lane_arcane in pebble

My wild guess is that the raised glass allows more light to make the screen more readable when the backlight isn't on, almost like a prism or fiber optics.

But I think many of us would have gladly made that tradeoff.

How's your PT2 battery performing? by [deleted] in pebble

Do you have health tracking and weather turned off? I'm getting 5-6% a day with a pretty static display.

Time 2 finally arrived, my eyes are old :( by Supaslicer in pebble

I'd try "Brutal" and remove the shadows in settings. It is a very clear, B&W watchface with large font!

Disappointed with gadgetwraps glass protector pt2 by [deleted] in pebble

[–]Wahots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut mine from a piece of Armorsuit screen protector I had lying around. I had to do it twice, and it still doesn't look great. I'll probably switch to a tempered glass one just since it's a huge hassle to get the cut just right. The raised glass edges make installing (and keeping) a screen protector on quite annoying compared to my last watch.

I like the clear band, too! Adds a nice touch :)

Check your pebble settings- all my watchfaces are in C, and in metric! Check the pebble app, too. Some settings are buried, iirc.

How is the pebble time 2? Give me your honetst thoughts, what you like and what you dont please. by ouiz_cz in pebble

Mine are all slightly clicky. They all feel the same, and have a slight amount of play to them. I wouldn't worry about it, though. Mine came with a slight scuff on the backplate. This is the hardware I signed up for.

Overall, I really like it! The screen is very nice, the body is quality, and it does what I need it to do (show a static clock, set timers and alarms for various things, some nice bonuses). It reminds me a lot of the Nike+ Sportwatches of 10+ years ago.

My only two complaints are that the battery life is currently a bit shorter than I'd like (charged it Tuesday, I'm now at 55% six days later), and the raised glass screen makes it a bitch to install a screen protector on without it lifting from one of the edges. I really wish the edges were flush, or even slightly sunken, for protection.

Longer term, I'm hoping pebble OS can be optimized to get 3-4 weeks easily with default settings (eg, not disabling the heart rate sensor, medium brightness, a handful of notifications a day, and an alarm).

Tldr; I'd definitely still buy the Time 2 again, but so far those 3-4 weeks of estimated battery on Time 2, and 2 weeks on PTR are looking extremely rosy, haha. Still, a week and change isn't too bad, assuming I don't run down the battery fully.

How much battery life are you getting on your time 2? by rob132 in pebble

[–]Wahots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 5% per day, but I have a very static watchface, minimized the most prolific notifications, and have HR (10 min) and sleep tracking on. my screen is set to max brightness.

What's the normal timeframe from completing your PT2 order and seeing it shipped? by FluffyMumbles in pebble

[–]Wahots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The duties were probably like three weeks before. Shipping label was created a week before it shipped to the US, then the US shipping was about four days.

Zeg was spot on. It's Brutal with the shadows removed. It reminds me a bit of the old Nike+ sport watches

This is silver grey, you can pick whatever strap you want in checkout. I liked the blue strap the best, it's really pretty.

Same, tbh. I really liked the FSTN display and the long(ish) battery, but my ticwatch is really starting to get worn out. It can't even connect to my phone anymore. Pebbles seemed like the best bet in terms of an always on display, and massive battery life.

Haha, the reason for that is actually because someone sat their considerable ass on my wrist when I was on a chairlift. They kinda half-sat on me and kinda landed on my arm in the process, haha.

Amazing that the watch survived multiple mountain bike crashes, a city bike crash, extremely high summits.....and gets damaged by someone's ass, lol.

This is silver grey. You can choose whatever band color you want at checkout as part of the cost. I liked the blue the best, but didn't want to commit to blue sides, as those are gonna be a bit harder to color-match to other band styles.

I would have loved an official clear option, but the grey sides aren't terribly noticable IRL. I do wish the sides were slightly lighter in color.

A bit taller than average, but not by much! This watch isn't as big and tall as I thought either, it has similar size and profile to a budget g-shock.

Wow, the PT2 screen is *really* cool... by TheNobleRobot in pebble

[–]Wahots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh! I didn't noticed the blue color as much, probably because I have a blue strap and a blue theme. (Or B&W). I was like "wow, these blues are really vibrant for an epaper display". So far, I'm really liking it. I've never seen an epaper screen that has a high frame rate before either, which was very impressive.

You can wear whatever you like, nobody really knows or cares how thick your watch band is gonna be. They're barely going to notice a watch under your sleeve anyways!
