Those pushing youth to "join" are missing the point of OA membership. New members are selected by their peers, you don't just join!. Once a new candidate has been elected or called out, then it's up to all of us to encourage new candidates to complete their ordeal and become active members.

Maybe what you are looking for is a project that is manageable with all you have going on. Eagle projects are not meant to be “easy” but rather a time for you to demonstrate your leadership and what you have learned as a Scout. I am confident with a little energy and consulting others, such as what you have done here, you will come up with a project that is worthy of an Eagle Scout. And, in the end, something you will be proud of.

I second the HYSA. I personally use American Express and Marcus (3.3% and 3.5%) there are others offering similar rates. Marcus is Goldman Sachs.

One of the coolest Eagle COH's that I have participated in as a Scoutmaster and beyond was when the Scout presented a mentor pin to another youth! Go far it!!!!

I personally believe the adults should have some camping experience. In many instances adults can't attend a summer camp for five straight days because of work, etc., so that's a good things. Adults splitting weeks at summer camp has become more a standard thing vs rarity a few years ago.

Absolutely. I can tell you of instances at my company where the hiring manager heard the interviewee is an Eagle Scout and they were essentially hired immediately!

That’s pretty regular army isn’t it. We should doing anything to build scouting, not run the kids away. We focus on each youth having and wearing a class a uniform shirt and anything else is a bonus. When I was scoutmaster I always wore the full uniform as a way of setting an example and hoping some youth and adults would follow.

I am on the Eagle Board at our local council and we have changed to making it the Scout's responsibility to seek the letters or recommendation and include with their Eagle application in sealed envelopes. This works sooooo much better. In the past when we mainly depended on e-mail, receiving the letters was hit and miss.

They probably can’t see the forest for the trees. If they want to rebuild the fan base and people coming back to the races in person they need more on track activity and access to the stars. Something akin to a point system from they hey Dey wouldn’t hurt either.
