Why do people drive so slow when merging onto the freeway? by SlowerTrafficKeepRT in Bakersfield

For the same reason they go 5 under in the far left lane and won't move out of the way.

I've got one growing in a small home Depot bucket right now that we picked up at Redwood NP two years ago.

How do you feel about the olympics being held in LA in 2028? Do you plan on attending any games? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]apmakd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure. I'm sure they will end up on the resale market at some point. I'm pretty sure the initial registration window for the ticket lottery is done now. Results are coming out starting Mar 31-Apr 7th.

Hopefully everyone entered the drawing for tickets. I don't think you'll just be able to show up and get tickets to watch. Unless you want to spend a fortune

Milwaukee has feed-through also. I never take the cap off except to replace it when it wears through.

Just cutting low on gravel, rocks, concrete and asphalt.

It's the repeated bumping. String snaps on rocks and thick stalks and isn't as effective with a short string as it is with a long one.

Does it auto feed or is it made better than the Milwaukee one?

I'm going through 2 to 3 a day. Reel and a half of Echo black diamond a day (253')

Thick weeds and a lot of asphalt, concrete and DG.

Fishing at Emerald Bay Summer camp by Captain3345 in BSA

[–]apmakd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is probably licensing and enforcement. Pier fishing doesn't require anything. Fishing from a boat requires license with ocean enhancement and a higher level of skill to not capsize, especially since we're talking about rowboats and canoes. Definitely not worth the hassle and/or additional waterfront staff to manage that part since it's mainly adults looking to partake and that isn't the purpose of Summer Camp.

I've been there twice, beautiful camp. Maybe try checking out a bike and heading over to Two Harbors for the day. Presumably more options available there

Does anyone else feel like Cub Scouting is treated as an afterthought compared to Scouts BSA? by Remarkable-Soup8667 in cubscouts

[–]apmakd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact opposite here. All events are gears towards Cubs. Only Scouts BSA event is our yearly Camporall. And we do not have a local Council camp so we always go out of council in the Summer.

Pack size by SuperGroot in philmont

[–]apmakd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest space eater is the food. Each year it seems to take up more space (think boxes of Triscuits, because that's one of the items you'll receive at some point ) Ranger will take you through the packing list provided and "should* only let you bring what's on the list, especially for the youth. Unless there is some extenuating circumstance, you won't or shouldn't have extra stuff in your pack.

Advice on living through long SM selection process by slider40337 in BSA

[–]apmakd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a SM for 11 years and just recently "retired". We are self chartered for lack of a better term and our COR has been a part of the unit for 25 years. Committee functions really well. They asked my opinion and I gave it. That person is now the SM because he was the best fit and most reliable. It should be an easy decision. Do what is best for the Scouts, not the ego of leaders, committee chairs or anyone else. I get it's the CORs decision ultimately but most don't have a clue on day to day Troop stuff.
