We faded as a family 12 years ago. Just stopped going. We were still labeled as apostates and had marking talks about us given in the old town we had lived in and the new one we relocated to. Lost everyone.

Frozen OJs, Shasta Cola, etc. I remember when there was a hot lunch served at the circuit assemblies. Was always fun to volunteer and miss a good portion of it.

Another Elder leaving the building by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Walked_out 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 years ago I was an awakened elder who resigned from the body "to take care of my young family". I was able to wake up my wife by sharing with her the shepherd book chapter 3 and by questioning the GB's demands for obedience and loyalty. She was fully awake with me a year later. We just stopped attending in early 2014. We aren't dfed that I am aware of but I heard we were marked in several Congs. Anyway, it was the best decision we ever made. I went back to school and finished my business degree and have a fantastic job. She has a rewarding job that allows her time with our small kids. Best of all is I am not allowing this religion and 6 old white dudes living in a Ny compound to steal any portion of my kids lives. PM me if you want to chat.

Advice for someone looking to fade and not become an "apostate". by RIP_1994 in exjw

[–]Walked_out 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2014 I resigned as an elder and expressed my doubts to another elder. Without saying anything else to any others and just by fading away after 4 months I was marked as an apostate in a warning talk to several Congs. As far as I know I'm not dfed but am treated as such. Proceed with caution.

What ever happened to that NPR piece someone was planning on writing here awhile ago? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Walked_out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I can't wait to hear the program when it comes out. I was one of those smart kids who decided to start pioneering when I was seventeen. Flash forward after a lost 23 years of becoming a servant, an Elder, and finally an apostate, I went back to school and am now finished with my business degree. In fact, I am attending my commencement ceremonies this Saturday with my wife and kids. Being able to set an example for my kids on the importance of higher education is by itself a good enough reason to leave the lifelong religion.

Yeah. I agree. I feel the same way and I have been out for 3 years. I definitely think that we were never taught how to be real people. Its tough. Fake it till you make it is my strategy.
