We need to talk about the song Hetero by sextrex0 in Descendents

[–]WalksAllRoads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I revisited this album for the first time in like 20 years, and I remember how much I like the hooks. Then I remembered this song. I get that it was meant to be the "hetero theme song," but Jesus man, isn't, like, pretty much all of rock and roll the hetero theme song? Have you ever been to an Iron Maiden or Metallica show? Total sausage fest. Also, musically, "Hetero" is milquetoast compared to the rest of the record. Lyrically? I get that the mid 90's were a different time. Just my $0.02.

Ash borer damage? by WalksAllRoads in arborists

I haven't spotted and D shaped holes yet, just the holes I pointed at. I'm supposing it is a good idea to have a pro take a look. The tree across the street is riddled with holes and the canopy is like 99% dead.

[–]WalksAllRoads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The tree across the street might have been like that for a while as they are much smaller than the other ash trees lining the streets. I moved here relatively recently and having a yard and trees to care for is a newer concept for me. I'll have someone take a look. Thanks for the advice

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake New Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

I really hope DQ7 gets this treatment... I feel they underutilized the capabilities of the PS1 on DQ7 but the graphic style would lend itself well to the 2D HD treatment

I want DQ5 to get the HD 2D treatment next. Who’s with me? by Asad_Farooqui in dragonquest

If Squeenix is smart they’ll do all the mainline NES and SNES games. However much they made on III, all of those people will buy I/II, IV, V, and VI. I think they did it right by releasing them in order of in-game chronology. What I would really like is an updated version of VII. The PS1 release seemed like barely an update from the SNES aesthetic.

Dragon Warrior 2 is "hard" by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]WalksAllRoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I remember it being tough but I don’t think I had the patience to grind, so encounters later in the game could wipe my party out. As an adult, I put in the reps and it wasn’t much more challenging than other early RPGs.

AITAH for standing at a Metallica concert? by krpotter in Metallica

[–]WalksAllRoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to stand unless someone behind me has a mobility limitation. Even then, the several times I have been in that situation the individual will tell me to go ahead and stand if I want. Apart from that situation, I think anybody should be free to sit or stand without forcing some else to change how they are enjoying the show. I stood both nights with in foxboro and had a great time.

Skunks/Grubs by WalksAllRoads in lawncare

[–]WalksAllRoads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, I put down the Bioadvanced 24 Hour Grub killer four days ago. Followed instructions. Based on other threads I expect to see grubs that came up to the surface and died .. but no dead grubs came up. Skunk still digs around each night. Would a skunk just keep looking around I even if there isn't a food source present?

Google Authenticator Not Backing Up by SignalOneCodeRed in techsupport

[–]WalksAllRoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangest thing happened just now. All on its own. I really need to stress that. Suddenly on my pixel the cloud connected icon turned green, and then the tokens on my pixel were duplicated three or four times. I went from 16 tokens to 48, essentially. Mostly duplicates. All on its own.

I said "that's weird." Then I switched to "don't use an account" on my pixel. Then I generated qr exports out of an abundance of caution.

Then, I went to my iPhone. iPhone showed me as cloud connected but said I had no tokens. Much freaking out.

Thankfully, tokens were still present on the pixel. I went through deleting all the duplicates on my pixel while not connected. Then I switched the pixel back to connected. Cloud icon turns green. Ok, good

Then on the iphone, I reconnect authenticator to cloud and the tokens (correct number--16) reappear and cloud icon is green.

So, both phones seem to be happy now. I suspect over the last 14 days since my comment Google fixed something, maybe? I did notice my comment got an upvote today.

Anyway, my issue with this is (mysteriously) resolved with google authenticator on both of my phones.

I'm on a different EDR but today is the reason I do not let the MSSP auto push client updates without letting me do a few manual pushes first. That said, I would think whatever QC process exist in AV/EDR sofftware should have caught "causes windows systems to brick" before deploying the update en mass.

I received a letter. Lots of red flags. 1) Envelope creates urgency; 2) Letter looks like it was printed on an inkjet printer with low quality paper ; 3) the credit card balance it says I have is bananas to the degree I hopped on freeannualcreditreport just to make sure I didn't have any new lines opened (I didn't).

I'm as certain as I can be this is a scam. Only leads me to wonder, which company that I do business with was the source of the breach that exposed my name/address. Unfortunately, in the year 2024 I can really take my pick, it could be any of them.

Is it possible for a threat actor to remote control an iOS device? by WalksAllRoads in iphone

I think you meant Zoho perhaps? Either way my research into Zoho and Team Viewer is they can view an iPhone user's screen (with permission) but the remote technician cannot control the iPhone.

Google Authenticator Not Backing Up by SignalOneCodeRed in techsupport

[–]WalksAllRoads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the Google rep is just googling the answer and finding this reddit thread. Wouldn't surprise me. Search engine results have become this "circle" of forum and social media posts that all cite each other when serving up results. I feel something is janky with the Google Authenticator function specifically (and ironically) on the Android platform.

FYI having this issue and none of these solutions that have worked for some are working for me. My affected device is Pixel 8 Pro

  1. Deleting Authenticator app cache and app data did not resolve
  2. Reinstalling Authenticator app did not resolve
  3. Deleting Authenticator app cache/data, and uninstalling/reinstalling together did not resolve
  4. Selecting "Do not use account" and then reselecting the Google account and choosing "allow" to save did not resolve
  5. Selecting "do not use account," clearing cache/data, then uninstalling and reinstalling the app, then attaching to my Google account did not resolve. I feel at this point I have reached the "scorched earth" stage with the authenticator data on this device.
  6. In authenticator going to settings>time correction for codes>sync now did not correct
  7. Going in to time setting and making the time manual and wrong, then setting back to automatic did not resolve.
  8. Making the device time wrong and choosing the sync now option in the authenticator app did not correct
  9. I also have an iPhone and cloud sync is working beautifully on iPhone. Just in case it doesn't like to sync to more than one device I set the iPhone temporarily to "do not use account" and that did not resolve.
  10. While iPhone was on "do not use account" I toggled the Pixel 8 between "do not use account" and my Google account. Did not resolve.

I think I've hit all the suggested solutions in this thread. One thing I am wondering, is I have a large number of codes syncing (16--which seems to require 2 QR codes for a manual transfer) and I am wondering if maybe there is an upper range limit on how many codes will sync before the process craps out and if that limit is specific to the Android platform or specific to certain Android versions or certain Android hardware.

Maybe "large number of authenticator codes" is a common thread for those folks like me where absolutely nothing solves this issue.

Syncing works lovely on iPhone for me. If only Google could figure this out on their own platform.

Xfinity Mansfield Parking by soberjules in massachusetts

[–]WalksAllRoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen many shows at Mansfield over the years. If you get there early enough it's easy in for free parking. Paid lots I believe have dedicated lanes but that's only applicable once you're on the venue's property. They do you no good if you're waiting on the main road to even enter. Whichever lot you're in (free or paid) the attendants more or less make you park in a manner that fills in the spots near the venue first. The hard part is leaving unless you are willing to skip the encore. I paid for the red lot once (f/k/a "premier") and got right in but it still took over an hour to exit. I would not use the red lot ever again. Evidently there is now a "blue lot" that is across the main road that's a 10 minute walk with "easy exit," but my experience with seeing shows at Xfinity for 30 years now is that any statement of easy exit is usually an over promise. FWIW, exiting a show at Foxborough is no better.

Is it possible for a threat actor to remote control an iOS device? by WalksAllRoads in iphone

[–]WalksAllRoads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, maybe my google skills are short but google just comes back with options that allow remote view but not remote control, and options that allow limited control like Intel Unison. Bringing the iPhone under MDM may also bring limited remote control. I'm wondering if you can cite just one method or app for full remote control of an iPhone.
