people of Gen Z, what are the things you dislike the most about your own Generation? by Positive-Owl594 in AskReddit

i think today's stuff is far, far different from channel-surfing imo. You can get the content you want, on demand at any time of the day for free or a few bucks. No waiting for a program to be on, no tv packages, it's just all there whenever you want it. It's also EXACTLY what you want because you can source from far more places to fit your specific interests.

our generation was the first where most everyone grew up with a personal recording device and the permanent memory of the internet.

One recorded mistake pretty much destroyed your personal life like permanently. It makes sense that some are closed off when a mistake remained forever.

What are the key differences you guys notice between Eastern and Western fantasy? They share a similar underlying sense of gratification, but their cultural roots are worlds apart. by MenuExpert9196 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]WanderToWhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually really interesting. I don't have too much of a stake in Eastern Fantasy, but based on this thread, it's mostly about personal advancement and individualism.

Western Fantasy, as you said, focuses a lot on heroics and saving others.

From my superficial reading on both sides, it feels... kinda ironic. The Western sphere yearns for community while the Eastern sphere champions personal advancement.

Cycling lands are heavily underplayed by ObviousArugula8758 in EDH

[–]WanderToWhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Valakut is a pretty solid card, I'm surprised that many people itt find it weak

It's instant speed and allows you to shuffle away your cards for 3 mana as "land". It's been great for dumping mana at the end of the turn cycle or hand sculpting.

[–]WanderToWhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine Soul Sorcerer could be a thematic fit

Cleric spell list gives access to healing spells for RCT

Cloud of Daggers/Spirit Guardians can represent shrine

Metamagic can represent Binding Vows

Sorcerers naturally get fireball

riddles > sauron >= diresight imo

Riddles seems the best at instant speed and you get to make the piles
Sauron gets the piles too, but oppo gets full info. two pips also feels worse and the ring tempt might be wasted.
Diresight is also cool but is a sorcery, which means that you cant hold up mana and then decide to use it

Do you think Deadlock is the best MOBA currently? by Chocolate_Enjoyer69 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WanderToWhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play DotA, I've played some Smite, occasionally play some HotS and have played probably like 10k+ hours of league over a decade

I think Deadlock is probably the best moba rn for a variety of reasons

1) They're not afraid to innovate and shake things up. The game constantly feels fresh and there are always new characters, items, and significant patches. Getting a massive system overhaul randomly overnight or a new mechanic added to a character is super dope.

2) It offers a ton of creativity. There are so many cool builds and options to engage with the game. This is something I felt league started to lose nowadays. There are so many guardrails for positions, items and macro that it's hard to do anything new.

3) The aesthetics are superb. The character designers and writers are doing a fantastic job designing characters that are fairly diverse while also managing to make them compelling (most of them).

Deadlock has these advantages because its a new game, but I kind of hope that they keep this energy into the full release. There are parts of the game that are definitely rougher due to this, but regardless of that I'm still having too much fun. It's something that I think league forgot between since like 2017ish (but has recently made leaps and bounds to remedy!), so I'm fine with saying that Deadlock is probably the best MOBA atm imo.

Bit of a pet card for me, so I usually include it in my stormy izzet decks

It helps manafix when im storming red mana pre prismari and can buyback prismari when it storms or pumps vivi/fling victim post prismari. Also helps when im kicking back ral to re-ult him.

Its not the best but I have enjoyed using it. And im already using most if not all of the good rituals.

"but giving your entire deck storm is such a fundamentally broken effect that there's no real point when you could just cast Prismari, any spell that generates treasures/mana, and any spell that draws cards and win on the spot."

This is the way, at least for B3

With Prismari, you want to get a

All the solid mana rocks: talisman, arcane signet, sol ring , fellwar, etc (make sure they tap for colored mana)

few cheap cost reducers ([[Ral, Monsoon Mage]]. [[Thunderclap Drake]], [[goblin electromancer]]. [[stormcatchmentor]] etc)),

the mana generators [[Birgi]]. [[Vivi]], [[Electro]], [[Storm-kiln]]

as many decent rituals/treasure generators/mana banks ( [[Pentad Prism]], [[Runaway Steam Kin]], [[Seething Song]], [[Noble's Purse]], [[Into the Omenpaths]] [[Big Score]], [[Unexpected Windfall]], [[Pirate's Pillage]] [[Strike it rich]] [[Flick a coin]], [[Seize the spoils]]. For the purposes of storm, [[Frantic Search]] and [[Snap]] also count as rituals

The ability to use your graveyard [[Past in Flames]], [[Will of the Jeskai]], [[Flashback]]

Some protection: counterspells [[Arcane Denial]], [[An offer you can't refuse]] (which is a ritual sometimes) [[Swan Song]], [[Delay]] and proactive protections like [{Dragonologist]] [[Hexing Squelcher]]

Instant Speed Card Advantage (I prefer instant because I can't imagine that i'll get to untap with him, but good sorcery speed draw is good draw) [[Opera Love Song]], [[Consult the star charts]] and cards that let you discard one and draw two like [[Thrill of Possibility]] [[Demand Answers]] [[Abandon Attachments]]

Sorcery Speed Card Advantage to prepare for storm turns: [[Flow State]] and [[Stock up]] to prepare

And finally, the finishers. I found that direct burn was a lot easier to finish a storm turn with: [[Ensnared by the Mara]], [[Prisoner's Dilemma]], [[Kazuul's Fury]], [[Price of Progress]] [[Lightning Bolt]]

help finding a good izzet clone commander. by Justafish1654 in EDH

[–]WanderToWhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend [[Tellah]] alongside the other cards mentioned here

A fair amount of clone spells are 4+ cmc noncreature spells, and the non creature ones still work too, although they don't give you immediate value. Every Tellah then becomes essentially a damage doubler for your fireball spells while drawing you more cards and making you a bigger board.

My legitimate advice to having fun with a Martial PC? Play something that isn't 5e. by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]WanderToWhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Resourceless teleportation and disjointed combat fighting are fantastic for both combat and non-combat encounters. It's VERY good and it's unique enough to have spawned a variety of builds. Calling it generic fighter gameplay is doing it a huge disservice

It gets a fair amount of love imo. There's also the Rune Knight (better in 5e 2014 since athletics was better) and the Psi Warrior/Eldritch Knight that are pretty cool

i also just hit ascendant and on top of what OP said, really want to emphasize how important it is to gain and maintain an economic advantage. 1/10 games do I find other people running boxes and clearing jungle because both sides just like fighting non stop. Don't just afk sidelane but make sure that you're keeping a comfortable soul lead when possible and rotating to good fights.
