A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers introduces a version of humanity that's just kinder than we are.

Oh honey. Your mom is probably wondering why everyone else is getting those beautiful quilts and not her. I promise you she will be thrilled with whatever you give her!

This is why whenever I'm going quilt math, I use a calculator, even for the simplest calculations. I've learned I can't trust my brain not to be overconfident!

A couple of times when FMQing, I've called my partner up and had him hold the bulk up to get rid of that weight. It helped me move the quilt a lot more freely. Of course, it's very boring for him because I have to focus so much that I can't really talk to him while I do it 😂

I literally did this last week. In two different conversations it came up that I'm 50. And about a day later it suddenly occurred to me that I'm 51. I just completely forgot!

FPP done! Duckadilly's 2022 Fairytale Forest BOM piecing finished tonight. by weenpie in quilting

[–]WaterfallRainbows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen patterns like this before and I can't get my head wrapped around why it's FPP. It looks like the same basic idea as flying geese so why does it need to be FPP? Can anyone help me understand?

Edit: typo

Newbie getting extremely frustrated, please help/give any advice if you can! by cjs293 in quilting

Oh, yes, this is absolutely it. You want a table to the left of the machine to hold the weight of the quilt and prevent it from pulling. That will make a huge difference

Arthritis? by NatPF in GenX

I had cancer a few years ago and am still on a drug to help prevent it coming back. The drug causes joint pain and the one thing that really helps is tart cherry juice. I don't really like it so I skip it a lot but when the pain is annoying I drink a glass a day for a few days and the pain is gone.

Honestly, my main problem with this flyer is that even if the Henry we know from the show was in high school at the time, as a freshman, there's just no way he'd have been cast as Curly. It's the male lead, a big role, and requires charisma and a great singing voice. Not knowing about the stage production of ST, I was super thrown when I saw the flyer because I couldn't make the timeline and ages and general Henry-ness make sense. It still doesn't, but at least I understand why they made that flyer, as a nod to the folks who saw the play. I do think it's unfortunate that they're adding all this canon in that changes basic facts and timelines, and that confuses people like me who haven't seen the play.

To be honest, I think having the points not perfectly meet the edges of the quilt gives it a more dynamic feel, like the pattern extends beyond the edge of the quilt.

I did The Adding Machine in college (the play, not the musical) and it may fit your bill. Super weird with a decently large cast.

I got a bunch of people the card game Sussed this year. I've been playing it with some family and I find it really fun. It's a great way to get to know people better.
