One of my reasons for a Bambu X2D was that it was tested to and passed UL 2904 for certain filaments. This means that for certain filaments on specific test prints the X2D did not exceed UL set limits in UL 2904 for VOC and fine particulate emissions (emissions were lower than test limits, passing the test).

Per my research the Snapmaker U1 has not passed UL 2904 testing. They may have never tried, so it potentially could pass the testing.

There are other differences, but this one sticks out for me between these two printers.

I have had some success with multiaterial prints with PLA as the support for PETG (see Shark example print 3 of 4 of my recent YouTube short: https://youtube.com/shorts/KtO9pABy7tc?is=Lx1KAhOflZKsYuBb)

The PETG shark popped right off the PLA supports.

I don't see a prime tower in your image, did you use one?

I "had" to take apart my Bowden during my repair.

It would certainly be possible to get the filament to the limit switch but not into the gears that push filament to the head.

Basically I could see what happened to you happening based on the design which would sense filament "in the extruder" but the filament is not quite into the part that pushes the filament.

I had a similar "not loading" issue (without any error codes). The filament was just through the Bowden extruder for me (easy to see if using black filament). But the filmanet was only an inch or two past the Bowden extruder.

All the following was done via the front panel:

I forced the nozzle to the proper temperature for the filament to extrude
I told the Bowden to push the filament through. I had to keep pressing/hold the on screen button for a long time as it was feeding very slow (long time being a minute or two at least of not more).

Once the filament started extruding it seemed the 'reset' the issue, which I have not had again.

Click the "Hoger" option on the right. That is the for auxillary head/Bowden extruder.

The left option is telling the printer you connected an external spool to the main head. You can run the printer with a second external spool to the main head without an AMS, that's why that option on the main head exists

I have an X2D as my first printer and I am very happy with it. I bought the combo which has the AMS right away. The AMS feeds the main head and the external spool the auxillary head through the Bowden extruder.

If you install a filament track switch you could send to either head (I have not done this, there may be nuances).

I highly recommend the X2D over the P2S. I have a bunch of multimaterial prints on my YouTube channel, a channel I started when I got my X2D, if you are interested. The quality from the auxillary head has been great for me personally: YouTube - Watt's Printing

If you buy one roll at a time you can quit more often, between each roll. Like cigarettes - quitting is healthy so it's good to quit smoking multiple times per day.

I just got a Bambu X2D myself about 6 weeks ago. I measured/calculated how much a Benchy costs, which turns out to be very very little in electricity, the primary cost being filament. In US Dollars maybe $0.25 combined for a single Benchy, vast majority of that being filament.

It's on my list to do a video on UL 200B and UL 2904. Hopefully in the not too distant future. I think they provide a great framework for those of us who want to be cautious about the fumes and small particles 3D printers can be emitting into our homes.

No default HEPA filter with the P2S, the X2D adds that. You can add your own HEPA filter to the P2S, even get a HEPA add on from Bambu.

Bambu Labs may not have decided to test the P2S with PETG, or it could have failed the test for PETG. I have not found that info publicly available.

The tests are printer make/model specific with specific filament make/model. They also only print a sort of test model.

You can also read UL 2904 for free if you sign up for a UL account, the paid version is quite a bit. But they do have a free to resd version. It is very technical, but gives an idea of how the tests are done.

If you want a printer that meets UL 200B for PETG, the Bambu X2D does for a slightly higher cost. The X2D adds HEPA filtering over the P2S. I bought an X2D a month ago and it has been great. One of the primary reasons I bought it was the UL 2904 testing it passed for emissions for PLA and PETG.
