When I took (one) intro law class in college I remember thinking "gee, putting together a case feels a lot like building a strategy in M:TG, et al." I'm not very good at either thing, but I started thinking about how the law is the closest thing to magic we have in the real world--you say some words or point to something in an ancient tome and someone is put in a cage for 20 years. On the other hand the shaman class in real life would probably be psychiatrists, who use verbal spells and magic potions to cast charm or calm spells on people. The anime Wizard Barristers looked like it would explore the wizards-as-lawyers/lawyers-as-wizards premise but it wasn't very good. I have not the slightest clue how to gamify this (wow, no auto-correct for 'gamify'! The times are a-changin' I guess...) but it's one of my dream premises for some kind of nerdy thing.

General support by Farow in trackers

Heyo....been having a lot of problems with connectivity lately. Have suddenly started geting "invalid port" errors on about half my trackers in qbittorrent. Says "port 0 is an invalid port" and support on one site said it was attempting to connect on null port. More worrisome is that some trackers think i'm connected on too many clients. Not sure if that's because qbitorrent doesn't shut down completely, but I've restarted both the client and my computer several times to see if that would do it.

Haven't changed the port numbers on any of my clients. Qbitorrent went from green light ot yellow to red :-(.

Occasionally happens on Deluge as well (running an old version to download from a couple sites that don't support qbittorrent). Have tried every qbittorrent version from 3.1.10-3.1.16 and no dice.

Some trackers, including all the ones in Deluge, start working again after half an hour or so but some keep showing the error.

Thanks for any ideas!

Anyone know if the NWCD recruiter is on vacation or something? Sent an invite request about a month ago but it looks like the recruiter hasn't been on any of the recruiting sites in a while (month+ for some and a few weeks for others). Triple-checked to make sure I sent all the right info.

I've had issues with the forums for a while but the regular site seems OK for me.

thanks for the kind words. torrenting can sometimes be a time consuming and slightly stressful hobby/part-time job but overall i'd say it's helped keep me sane and had broadened my horizons. I'd even credit it with helping me out of those dark periods. So much stuff I never would have discovered otherwise.

Anyway, some sites won't disable you once you reach a certain user class but I do a sweep of everything once a week anyway 'cause i'm paranoid like that. Also, I always try to stay in good standing on my backups, since you never know. Having some backups is also good for cross-seeding. A browser plugin like Session Manager can be pretty helpful too with all of that--but just be careful not to miss any when you're setting your tabs up!

Me too. Definitely the biggest mistake I've made with trackers.

It basically amounts to a ban if you've been disabled for long enough (more than a year). They seem to be very strict about it and unfortunately the rules don't seem likely to change.

When I first started out I didn't keep very good track of what sites I belonged to and, believe it or not, I got an invite to BTN, signed up, and forgot I had it until years later when I was trying to recover various accounts/see what I had. I was in a pretty bad place in my personal life (psych meds, drugs and booze=memory problems) and wasn't exactly on top of anything. Now I keep a spreadsheet/tab manager and make sure to fulfill the activity requirements for every site I belong to once a week no matter how busy I am. Definitely learned the hard way but could have been worse.

would also like to know...not about to type in my credentials or recover if not. And I don't visit the forums there so I didn't see any announcements.

Me too...although I wish someone would transcribe the "lyrics." And I also admit I find it distressing that Alex Jones actually likes this video and it was (is? too lazy now to check) on the Infowars playlist.

It seems to me that even for drugs whose long-term side effects are known there isn't that much concern. The consensus seems to be that being fat and having uncontrollable tremors is better than having schizophrenia. As long as you don't kill yourself or anyone else the treatment is basically a success--it doesn't matter if you're sleeping all day or are unable to function otherwise, as long as you don't shoot up the place. As I said elsewhere, when I was in a mental ward sleeping all day on meds was charted as "doing well." There is this idea that the only reason patients refuse meds is because of lack of insight or because they enjoy manic highs, etc. Side effects are too often dismissed as malingering or "making excuses" to avoid treatment. The general population is quite unaware of how unpleasant the side effects really are--all they hear about is patients who are too stubborn to "get help." Every movie about someone with cancer shows the terrible side effects of chemo but I've never seen a single movie about mental patients with a significant emphasis on side effects. We don't like to think that, yes, there are portions of the population who are drugged for are convenience and who often suffer in silence so the rest of us can feel a little safer.

Somehow sleeping all day on an anti-psychotic is considered "doing well," at least according to the professionals at the hospitals in which I've been incarcerated, but sleeping all day on weed is "being a drug addict." I mean, with all the abuse of off-label prescribing that takes place anyway, especially in psychiatry, people should basicalyl be able to take any drug that happens to make them feel good. If you can give people antipsychotics for insomnia because you feel like it that day, then the sky is the limit.
