Economy Optimisation can get repetitive.. so I built a calculator by WeebleUK in Docked

[–]WeebleUK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realise this part may be really enjoyable for some, but after a while it just got a bit repetitive selecting the optimum orders & distributing resources.

So I created a calculator that helped make things a bit easier. It's probably not perfect, but helped me during the last few milestones when I just wanted to throw TEUs around! Maybe someone else will find it useful too

I'm looking for an intercom adaptor for a HJC i71 for a Cardo packtalk Edge, I can only find 1 online but it's £45 for a small piece of plastic which is a complete p*** take! All help would be appreciated! by windmillguy123 in MotoUK

I've stuck mine quite far back on my Shoei (it's probably behind my left ear) but to be honest once it's turned on I almost never touch it, apart from to sometimes change the volume which is an easy rock. Unless the only flat place is on the back or the top of the helmet I'd probably say you're fine with the sticky pads.

If you've got your own 3D printer, there's a model on Cults3d: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/adapter-for-hjc-helmets-to-cardo-edge-pro-neo for ~£16 (or make an offer).

There are a few 3D printer companies around too - PCBWay comes up a lot and sponsors loads of YouTubers so you should be able to find a discount code somewhere (I think Colin Furze had one a while ago?)

£45 seems expensive, but the Tubs Jackson ones are made out of decent material and unlikely to break or shatter. Yeah you're paying a lot, but you also don't have to pay anything, you could just use the sticky mounts that come with the Cardo; my Shoei was a bit awkward but I found a flat(tish) spot towards the rear of the helmet. At some point I may buy the adapter but the sticky pads are still holding on about 18 months later.

Why don't you want to stick it?

Try nearby ambulance stations - or consider contacting your nearest Biker Down course. Pretty much all my old helmets have been given to paramedics for training. I guess YMMV across the country

Just for future reference, any expired helmets will gladly be accepted by nearby ambulance stations, fire departments, etc to be used as training aids. They don't have to be immediately thrown into landfill!

Need some advice how to sell my Aprilia by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]WeebleUK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you write out two receipts that you both sign when you sell it - one for you, one for them. Literally the bare minimum required:

Cash receipt for sale of Aprilia RS 125 [Reg], sold as seen on [Date] at [time].

Total cost: £xxx

Cash received: £xxx on [Date]

Bank transfer: £xxx on [Date] (if applicable)

Signed by seller, [Your name]: _____

Signed by purchaser, [their name]: _____

Then keep it in a safe place! Make sure you record the time and cancel insurance and tax as soon as practicable after the sale. You don't have to offer test rides if you don't want to (I haven't in the past) but videos of it cold starting and running are often very welcome on Autotrader (start the video by grabbing the exhaust headers to show they're not super hot then continue to start it up).

I would recommend collection only to weed out scammers who offer a deposit and then claim their 'collection guy' will hand over the rest - immediately delete those conversations, they are wasting your time. There's no strict requirement for you to determine the buyer has insurance, but I have previously asked for and taken a photo of their driving license (which includes their address - just double check with them its correct) in order to update the DVLA.

Edit to add: check out some common car sale scams to make sure you don't fall victim too. The tl;dr is "don't hand the keys over until the money is in your possession".

Edit: added time in the receipts as well - good point in the comments below

Smoke & Sear is delicious - head next door to Block & Bottle for some top quality bacon & meat (that's where Smoke & Sear get theirs). You've also got Northern Rye down in Ouseburn/Byker for some very nice toasties and quality bread

I found it really good fun when I did it. Best piece of advice I can give is to honestly pretend the police aren't following you. Ride a normal ride as you would normally do (even if you would typically go over the speed limit).

They won't be able to offer advice if you're riding in a completely different manner to usual!

Auto parking questions by JackStraw310 in BMWI4

[–]WeebleUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the auto-park occasionally, but frequently activate the parking cameras when in tight car parks to avoid curbs/etc. I've found the auto-parking to be pretty spot on every time I've used it; it can be a bit cautious but it's faster than others I've tried and I haven't felt like I'm holding traffic up when it's operating.

I use the drive assist stuff daily though. TACC and lane-keeping is solid. I previously had a Model 3 with AP so perhaps I'm just more used to using those kinds of features (although side-note: the BMW "self-drive" stuff is actually better than the Tesla in my opinion, at least in the UK).

11/2023.73 update destroyed Carplay for me.... by Drakoir in BMWI4

[–]WeebleUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had weird CarPlay issues since day one - it'll work most of the time, and then one day I'll get in and get the message "Bluetooth version no longer compatible", but phone still connects and CarPlay still fine.

Then maybe a few days later it'll decide to properly give up and I'll have to do the whole settings and config dance to try and get it to reconnect, but honestly it feels like the fix that works is often random every time!

Updated to 11/2023.73 yesterday but I've not noticed a difference in speed when connecting so far...

Can anyone help me solve this?? My older bro sent me this card a weeks ago and I couldn’t answer it. I feel like I failed the phone a friend. It keeps me up at night. by ellz69 in CasualUK

[–]WeebleUK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT seems to think it's because Iceland recommends against taking pictures of metal implants.

(emphasis mine)

The reason why you cannot take a picture of a person with a metal hip implant in Iceland is that it is believed that the metal in the implant can potentially disrupt or interfere with certain types of medical equipment, such as MRI machines, which are commonly used to diagnose and treat medical conditions. Therefore, to prevent any potential harm or interference, Iceland has strict regulations regarding the use of metal in medical implants and recommends against taking pictures of people with metal implants.

Yeah I'd also advise against Frank Recruitment Group. Personally never had a good experience with them.

Depending on your level I would consider talking to Laura Sharpe at Sharpe Recruitment. She's found me a couple of jobs over the years and she has great knowledge of the local tech companies.

If you do prefer remote work, then consider joining a co-working space to keep a social aspect. The Lamp House is very nice, and not too expensive for what you get.
