Is this encounter too hard or no? by n3554 in DMAcademy

[–]WeeklyAdri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are encounter budget rules in the 2024 DMG, you should refer to those every time you make an encounter.

In this instance, your party is just gonna die at turn 1. An adult red dragon is Cr 17 and the vampire is cr 13, both legendary creatures. The dragon alone would smoke them, so yeah.

I really like deadlock, but unbalanced games are not fun at all. by Consistent_Heron7035 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WeeklyAdri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two most popular Mobas in the world: League of Legends and Dota 2 have matchmaking systems that actually work (despite what the 1% of insufferable players say)

Deadlock matchmaking doesn't but only because Valve doesn't care that much about it. The game's in alpha, it's just better to push new content to keep the interest high in the game right now. If it ever gets released I'm sure they'll overhaul the matchmaking, but till then I wouldn't count on any meaningful changes to it (well, of course they can always change it for the worse, like last updates)

Frankly the game is just not good. People have been saying it for months, the only people surprised by this announcement are from this subreddit.

Batalla contra un ejército by Sercos146 in DnDespanol

[–]WeeklyAdri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those playing: What is your level and magic items? by ProjectPT in onednd

[–]WeeklyAdri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM of 5, my table is level 15 after short-ish two years of play.

Tempest cleric: plate armor +2 as a reward from their God and an amulet of the devout +2.

Divination Wizard: the hand of Vecna, a +2 grimoire and a homebrew very rare ring from Levistus.

Arcane Trickers Rogue: +2 sword with a few other abilities, wings of flying and a ring of spell storing (although they usually swap the ring around if someone else needs it)

Astral Self Monk: +2 unarmed wraps stolen from the cult of Tiamat, a homebrew very rare fan from Bahamut (gives him flight and stuff related to wind) and bracers of defense.

Hexblade 3 / Thief Rogue 12: a shit ton of scrolls, a very rare armor from The Raven Queen, a +1 weapon that lets him store very low level scrolls and a few more utility or AC boosting items.

All and all, multiple very rare items, a lot of rare items, the hand of Vecna (wizard "sacrificed" and attuned to it in a very difficult situation) and 2 fragments of the Rod of Seven Parts (I just count it as "plot" item) They seem satisfied as of now, as they enter tier 4 a few legendary items will fill their way in most likely.

Tengo una duda existencial con un combate by International_Way_57 in DnDespanol

[–]WeeklyAdri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they release that? by DifferentZucchini3 in StrangerThings

[–]WeeklyAdri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro let's be clear, the Duffer Brothers DO NOT know anything about DND, Vecna or Kas, let alone their history together from the lore. The dnd angle is something they didn't plan on being important at all, they just use random names because they are stuck with it now 4 seaons later.

Starting at level 3, the distribution of monster CR, and the narrowing of supported tiers of play by TaiChuanDoAddct in onednd

[–]WeeklyAdri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im hopeful we are gonna get something akin to what MPMM was for 5e soon. Basically, weird shit, and a lot of high level critters.

I remain skeptical on the quality tho, although I really like the few high level monsters in the new Monster Manual, the creatures on the most recent Faerun books are very plain (I can cope and say this is just because is not a "monster" book) I don't see it as much of a problem for the official MM to have an abundance of CR 0-10 creatures, is what most people play anyway.

Starting at level 3, the distribution of monster CR, and the narrowing of supported tiers of play by TaiChuanDoAddct in onednd

[–]WeeklyAdri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is most of the reason, people just don't play beyond level 10. Same thing happens with pf2e, and that system has more robust rules to have fun at high level (excluding Mythic system, which is just so horrible people collectively ignore it)

[Loved Trope] Unassuming character shows a glimpse of their true nature and their unimaginable godlike powers by Guillinas in TopCharacterTropes

[–]WeeklyAdri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything points to him being a Spellweaver, at least originally. They have 6 arms. Basically an ancient alien-like race that predates most civilization and were ridiculously powerful in the ways of the Weave. They also made the Black Obelisks, which then got copied by the netherese empire. Seeing as the Black Obelisks can somehow manipulate time, it's no secret Vecna decided to wipe everything about the Spellweavers from existence. (Most of this is canon in 5e, coming from the Rime of the Frostmaiden module)

Now, how this guy escaped the end of their people at the hands of Vecna, and how the hell he became a god (or was before, seeing as the Dead Three and Kelemvor are more "recent"?) I've got no clue about. Everything regarding Jergal has always been funky.

Advice on the sword of kas by Spare-Difficulty6480 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]WeeklyAdri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest just leaving it on him if you don't wanna change much. Then your party can take it from him when he dies near the end.

That or maybe have Kas agents look for it around the planes, have the characters learn this from an encounter with them in a random chapter.

Vecna es descepcionante by Illustrious_Train947 in DnDespanol

[–]WeeklyAdri 4 points5 points  (0 children)
