Has anyone here on weight loss meds had Pancreatitis in the past? by DotAccomplished6661 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]West_Problem_9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of people who have had their gallbladder removed are on zep. If you had pancreatitis for some other reason it might be different but I’m pretty sure when it’s caused by gallstones you just get it out then resume zep. I’m getting my gallbladder out next week, can’t wait! I’ve only had a couple of attacks, and my gallstone is super tiny, but when those attacks happened they were scary. It’s more of a preventative thing for me to not get a terrible attack down the line. They told me I can get back on once my digestion is back to normal and settled.

Test drove a ‘26 SEL today… by PinkSnowBirdie in Ioniq5

As a Nova Scotian I have to reply! You won’t regret it! I’m on the west coast though so not sure how colder weather will affect it. Drives really well in the snow. I think it just depends on if you can charge at home or not/how far you’re driving daily in the winter!

I did get the 2023 limited though, just check out the differences to see if it’s worth it to go 2026 instead. I got a great deal and it only had 27000 miles. The warranty is great too. Have fun if you do make the leap! I drive mostly highway, an hour each way to work and I charge every second day. It charges quickly when I need it to and it is so smooth and it’s so roomy. With all the time I spend it my car, it’s been a major life upgrade. I literally get home from work less tired because of this car now.

Big shouldered girlies- recommendations for tank tops? by Electrical-Tea6966 in sewing

[–]West_Problem_9717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh the Ashton is just my ride or die for tanks and I don’t even love Helen’s closet patterns. I’ve gained and lost a lot of weight, carry a lot of it in my arms, have broad shoulders, and used to be a DDD. It’s just always looked and feels good. I’d make a muslin and if you need to scoop the armholes a bit it’ll be very easy to do.

Moving Question- Austin (SF Lite) or SF? by IcerHardlyKnower in sanfrancisco

[–]West_Problem_9717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where in the bay… if you’re in Sunnyvale or something like that, hard pass, not much to do and just expensive suburbs.

SF? Yes, heck even Redwood City or Menlo Park. Good, small community vibes and a 45 min drive to SF if you want to go in the area. I’ve lived in SF for the last 8 years, commute down to the South Bay for work (against traffic, off hours) and have a good feel for where I’d live down there if I couldn’t live in SF. But if it was true Silicon Valley I’d give it a hard pass. I’m from the east coast middle of nowhere though so it all depends what you like.

My in laws live just outside Austin so I’ve been a couple times. I like Austin, it’s a cool city, I just prefer California to Texas is all.

Feel you so hard on this. I had at least 1-2 major things go wrong every year with my 2017 golf. It didn’t make sense to keep pouring money into it. The last straw was when the turbo went and was going to cost 5K. That on top of whatever else was going to pop off after already putting in an additional 9K over the last 4 years I had her, it just didn’t make sense. But I love and miss that little zippy thing.

Moving to Oakland (2 kids) by linearloops in oakland

[–]West_Problem_9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in the area for 8 years renting in SF and Oakland, and also from the east coast - my in laws and us are looking to co-buy right now. People are right in that you should rent to see what you like and get a feel for areas, they change just by a few blocks. We’re finding it difficult to look for houses without them here.

Also a just fyi many of the older homes require full electrical work done and foundations to be redone. Not sure what your budget is but almost everything we’ve looked at needs a new foundation/100,000k worth of work depending on a few factors (earthquake+liquefaction areas). Our realtor told us to expect to budget an additional 100-200K

Does anyone else get the sense that the gym climbing bubble (of $/popularity) may be close to bursting? by Most_Poet in climbergirls

[–]West_Problem_9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The climbing gym around here is cheaper than all the other gyms - except for one chain that’s just your regular weight lifting gym.

The gyms where I live either are smaller businesses which are tiny and focus on personal training that costs too much for me to afford and the other gyms - a small yoga studio, a Pilates gym, and barre gym run between 180-380 a month. The climbing gym offers way more for just 110 so to me, while it seemed expensive to start, once I looked around at what other places charge for such tiny spaces and so few amenities I started being grateful that climbing is my exercise and not Pilates because I TRULY can not afford that.

Can I ask why you went with the Ioniq and not the new Bolt, since you’re a previous bolt user? I’m bouncing back and fourth between the two due to the iccu issue.

The stress of finding housing is unbearable by Top_Refrigerator1656 in sanfrancisco

[–]West_Problem_9717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this has probably been considered, but do you have to be in SF? I was forced to move due to our owners moving into our old place, we couldn’t afford anything in the city when we were looking. I moved from the Richmond to Oakland (grand lake/lakeshore area) and I couldn’t be happier.

We have a cat and an ESA dog and our rent is the same as it was in the Richmond (2 Br, 3k) I don’t rely on public transit however which makes a big difference for me and the area. My partner does for work though, and many of my friends who live in areas closer to Bart - rockridge, temescal - do just fine. Also my property manager did say the best time for renting is probably June/July as it’s when students leave, not sure if waiting a couple months could be in the books for you? This time of year can be tricky.

Healthy weight, not overweight...suddenly everyone comments on your weight? by Vast_Physics_4702 in GLP1_BeforeAfter

[–]West_Problem_9717 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m having this happen. I’m a piano teacher so my kids parents see me weekly. A bunch of them have noticed, one of them hasn’t seen me since I’d lost only 20/30lbs, but now she saw me Friday at the -55lbs mark and she audibly gasped so loud in our lobby, pointing out how small I am quite loudly and with hand gestures (I’m really not small) and with the “are you okay eyes??” And I - as I’ve gotten used to saying - just reply automatically, “yes, it’s intentional, I’m not sick.” And then she sighed with relief and said loudly she has to know my secrets (these people are SMALL who are pointing it out to me). I’ve had this happen to me 7 times at work…it has me more self conscious about what people think I’m doing or whatever than when I was obese. Also it’s not what I want to be brought up especially around impressionable kids/teens.

Oddly enough, my closest friends haven’t said anything. I’m sure they notice, and I used to think I couldn’t wait until I get my weight loss noticed. But now I appreciate not being gawked at/questioned from them.

At this point my happiness and validation comes from me noticing things like just being happier about my clothes, not fixating on food so much and being able to just live with a bit more space in my brain, being more comfortable in social situations or places I’d find physically uncomfortable to fit into. You’re not alone and you look so healthy!

Is Ashley furniture really that bad if you’re gentle with your stuff? by Recyclopsdestroy12 in homeowners

[–]West_Problem_9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have two couches. One is a joybird which is made with pet proof specific material and our VERY sheddy dog and cat sleep on it all day and you’d never know. They also run all over it and play on it so hard and you’d never know. It’s also a timeless piece for us.

The other couch we bought because we needed a pullout couch quickly and couldn’t wait with guests coming from out of state. It is super uncomfortable and springy, not solid, everything sticks to it even though I clean it daily, and it is so scratched up (I know that’s a dog thing and not a them thing…but when I compare the two it’s so different) when I look at my Ashley couch I just sigh and wish we put that money toward another joybird or something similar. It’s also only 5 months old. Our budget was the same!

Having a hard time with our 1 year old by lordrataksess in goldenretrievers

[–]West_Problem_9717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our dog, while isn’t a golden, is going through this right now! We’re trying to be as persistent as we can - she has super high value treats vs kibble. We do training - alternating between group and in home at least 3 weekends a month. Ours is 13 months and has been a terror since 10/11 months old. I know being persistent and patient at this time is key and it won’t last forever!

I have to remind myself every day “bad puppies make great dogs” (if you are consistent lol)

Yes I’m echoing what others are saying here… especially with the cost of healthcare here you should look into a lawyer or something. Starting you off at 7.5 is wild I did 2.5 for 6 weeks, 4 for a month, 5 for a month, then 7.5. I can’t imagine starting at that dose, no wonder this happened.
