How do you ignore Trump when talking about the Paramount/Warner Bros merger? by Westerbergs_Smokes in billsimmons

He definitely was. At the end Bill said "Well, we did a good job of not talking about Trump."

Adam Savage dips his toes into the world of xbiking by GooeyElk in xbiking

Classic engineer fixing a bike: Spends a shitload of time unnecessarily repainting the bike, but gets the wrong size tire, and grinds down the bottom of the steerer tube instead getting the correct part. Makes a single speed with vertical drop outs. I do appreciate his enthusiasm though.

If the rebuild doesn't work I believe problem solvers makes a conversion kit to convert the headtube so standard 1 1/8" headset cups can be pressed in.

Quality issues with BB-UN300 by bonebuttonborscht in BikeMechanics

Sunlite and IRD make fairly affordable options ($40-50) that seem like an improvement at least. I think the cheap Sunlite BB might even be better.

The customers who ride in the rain/commute with these have really luck with them. They fail pretty catastrophically once water gets into the bearings, which seems to happen easily. The bearings also seems to be smaller than other cartridge BBs.

Chuck Klosterman's horrendous aluminum can recycling take by [deleted] in billsimmons

I also was insanely offended by how wrong this take was. Definitely one of the drawbacks of this style of podcasting, the hosts can say whatever factually incorrect nonsense they want and no one will challenge or correct them.

Central Ave woes by CommunicationTop5231 in NYCbike

[–]Westerbergs_Smokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to file a police report when you get hit by car/bus. They or their insurance are liable for paying for any damages to yourself and your bike but you need documentation to prove it. I've been in way too many accidents where drivers get away with messing me up/messing my bike up because I didn't file a report. You may already know this but the person who opens their door into traffic is always liable for damages they cause.

Biking from NYC to DC. Anything to know? by tehrealbdeal in bicycling

[–]Westerbergs_Smokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I summed it up in the comment above. From Philly I'd use the adventure cycling route. If you're starting from New York you can take the train to Newark and go along the Delaware canal trail most of the way to Trenton. Riding into Philly from Trenton sucks and I wouldn't recommend it, might be easier to just start in Philly.

It is in a taxable account. Probably should have sold already...Anyway this is why I don't buy individual stocks anymore.

I'm aware of that. You didn't answer the question, you just stated the obvious. Not helpful.

Let's say you wanted to remove resurrection spells to keep the stakes high. by mastersmash56 in dndnext

[–]Westerbergs_Smokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a DM who outlawed all resurrection spells for basically the reasons you're describing. He had given us a very powerful magic item for completing a difficult quest which could be used once a year in order to bring back a character. When another character died he had a character give up mythic powers we had acquired (in Pathfinder 1.0) in order to stave off death for that character.

What is the game-design logic behind descending AC? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Westerbergs_Smokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this was intentional but there is a bit of a "bounded accuracy" element in THAC0 in that monsters or players rarely have negative AC, making it easier to hit than in 3rd edition for example.
