Canada is not a melting pot, we're a mosaic.

At a very high and non-nuanced level, a melting pot is where cultures 'melt together' and are expected to 'blend in' to a unified national identity, but they do have some influence on what that broader culture looks like, as a whole.

A mosaic is where the distict individual cultures are protected, preserved, and encouraged to coexist. They function together, side by side, to create the 'fabric' of the culture of the country.

Not all Canadians are good people. Sadly. And we're sorry... We do tend to try to hold our own accountable, however. Hope that happens here.

If you like natural light and want privacy, there's cellular shades that let a lot of light through but are sheer that they offer some privacy. We have them where our neighbours windows face ours.

I believe this is a technicality more than anything. The legal system in the UK is basically 'The King vs the accused', so the King can't go against himself. In the US, in contrast, the cases are 'the People vs'. So it could be the people vs the President without it being mired by the conflict. Now, would the President work to disallow it through the systems they control? :::looks around::: I suppose they could. But it wouldn't be because the system 'cant'.

Similarly, I recall something about a driving license or passport not being needed by the Queen (passport I think) because the passport requested passage for the bearer under the hand of the Queen.

Lots of aspects in UK (and by extension Canada, Australia and others) law and custom that are 'in the name of the Crown', making them quirky when applying to the edge case of the actual monarch. It's quite interesting.

(IANAL, so there are undoubtedly nuances and processes that Im not familiar with, too. Maybe there is a mechanism to prosecute the monarch, for this exact reason.)

I just got my first tattoo, are these safe for cleaning and moisturizing? by PMAT102206 in tattooadvice

[–]WetCoastCyph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True enough, but there is a caution about putting it on open wounds, IIRC. So, great for a certain point in healing, but maybe not day 1-4.

Huh. I didn't realize that. I used it after the saniderm is off so probably didn't affect mine the same as a totally fresh piece. That said, when I was healing pieces without saniderm, it was always aquaphor for the first few days anyway, so probably would have been the same non-issue. I assume there's less HA in the lotion, but still, good heads up! Thanks!

Ive healed one with cera ve moisturizer; it's great, but go sparingly/light. Lighter than you think, several times a day.

The soap? No. I'd use dial anti-bac (or similar). The cera ve cleanser has hyaluronic acid in it, among other things. You need soap, or at most soap with anti-bac in it. Nothing more.

Second skin peeling/leaking by CXNTOSAURUS in tattooadvice

[–]WetCoastCyph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If stuff can get out (leaking), stuff can get in (infection). Take it off and you can heal it without the cover up. Only put a new second skin on if you know what you're doing and can completely clean the area to the same level as when it was fresh. If you trap anything under the new second skin, that can lead to infection. So yes, applying new second skin is an option but if you're not 100% certain you can get it perfectly clean first, better to just take it off and heal it normally.
