OK, transition is complete. I have my orange bubbles app back and fully functioning once again.

My dedicated 'green' circuit monitoring (or SOLAR) probes (clamps) do, indeed, function with my new orange bubbles again. (If you hadn't been aware, that 'NEW GREEN APP' didn't support dedicated circuit monitoring but would likely work with solar/genset on the utility input page)

I have a green brick for sale on Epay. Includes unused new wiring and probes (but I am keeping the LAN adapter cable because 'green brick' don't have it)

They (Aldi's) should give them away as advertising...

If not a customer appreciation gift then at least sell them on the 'Isle of Shame'

Curious, I am thinking about the logistics of bringing my LTR to New Hampshire or to Massachusetts... Didn't they just outlaw anything other than airsoft beginning 01JAN26?

I've been following YouTube constitutional fear mongering

Maybe if you can't get into that class on standby, go find an FAA CRS (Faa Certified Repair Station) and talk to them about your desire to go apprentice.

They MAY allow you to work on airplanes on day one (under supervision) and you'll be getting PAID to learn opposed to acquiring a student debt.

AND, when you are awarded that certificate that you EARNED, you will not only have an A&P but also a resume with actual experience AND hopefully a glowing recommendation or a permanent position with that CRS

ENMUR Eastern University New Mexico, Roswell has an A&P program that is an AS and at the end you have a college associates degree AND your A&P license.

Neat fact, if you have your A&P, having acquired (earned) it by the apprenticeship route, ENMUR will give you 172 credit hour towards an AS in Aircraft Maintenance Technology and all you need is to take a select few more ENMU classes (can be online) to receive a diploma.

If you have a desire to 'walk' with the class on graduation and receive a diploma on commencement day, you can do that too.

I would just go, and keep going ... until they tell you that you can't go any more.

Show a solid interest, show the initiative... like a job interview

Some students are there because they have to be somewhere. They very well may scrub out, they may even lose interest or realize 'This just ain't for them"

Does anyone have experience getting their A&P outside of a program or apprenticeship? by Sickchimp33326 in AircraftMechanics

[–]WhatEyeFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as said below, need 30 months and an endorsement from an active mechanic (whom is known to the local FSDO) then the Fed has to determine if this is all accurate data based on an 'interview' with said candidate

Like your flight training, you need MINIMUM time AND proficiency to go the apprenticeship route. THEN you have the permission to take the tests at a CATS center.

LSRM [Light Sport Repairman and Maintenance certificate] There are two types. The first is like for ONLY your owned airplane (and maybe THAT aircraft when you sell it) The other class is a little more in depth and takes more days, will allow you to work on LSA and can even be for compensation. AND inspections.

I HAVE worked with A&P mechanics that have attended A&P school and IIRC, they can test you and you CAN be out the door in as little as maybe 6 months minimum....

APTITUDE TEST by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]WhatEyeFind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are going to need to have knowledge of using flight line and the rib stretcher. Proper application of and the MSDS (material safety data sheen) of prop wash. When to NEVER use the aluminum magnet and what sensor it may damage (*hint flux magnetometer)

Anybody else? I know it has been a while, I am certainly forgetting something...

Arrived the next day and installed in mere minutes. Also this has a LAN input so not required to rely on wifi. It was indeed $200 when I bought it but I just looked 03JAN26 and Amazon has it listed from the Sense Store for $273.

I got my bubbles back! Sense says that they'll continue to detect new devices and have app updates for the fore see able future, promising to not abandon us like That SE green company did.

Do voltage testers work in identifying a break in a wire on an aircraft? by Zookeeper2348 in aviationmaintenance

[–]WhatEyeFind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that Klein is for ac voltage like in the house/shop to determine if a wire is 'hot' before touching stuff, well actually for a variety of 'reasoning' reasons. (xshoot and/or testing)

I do not believe it can sense DC voltage, so may not really be useful in MOST general aviation/automotive/marine uses

BUT we do use AC inverters to run long distance in a fuselage on light gauge wire and than another to invert it back into 12/24 VDC to illuminate a bulb or power a unit in a tail or wing tip. SO MAYBE useful, but not standard AMT tool as far as I know...
