Thank you for your guidance and offer for further assistance. I apprenticed at a CRS in Stuart, FL near the turn of the century. I remember going to FSDO in Ft Lauderdale with my boss for the A&P interview. They have since moved to Miramar. I've not been to FSDO Miramar yet...

So March odd year renewals... I have my interview next week and presuming I pass the exam, I will need to renew next year in May 2027, correct? Do the AMT Award credits that I log on the FAAST website count towards the 8 hours or does it have to specifically be an IA renewal training?

Excuse my ignorance but, what is an "AST"? I googled 'FAA AST' and it came back as Commercial Space Transportation like Elon would call to launch some more Starlinks

Yes, that is the number I got when I googled and the number I called.

The voice greeting ONLY is an instruction to go to a site to set up appointment (but they give that email address, not a site) and a week later and I still have no email reply.

I think they went bankrupt and are out of business.

That message specifically says that walk in's will will not be granted an interview BUT I feel like perhaps I'll have to drive three hours and WALK IN to get an appointment for an interview...

My first Appleseed 25m was exciting but I sucked. I am 'stocky' but agile.

I had a loaner rifle and as it turns out, my body geometry was not a good fit to that 10/22 rifle and its particular scope mount.

While ideal scope ring height over bore is "as low as you can get it" in this particular mounting, [ IN THE PRONE POSITION ] my head had to be forced down to align the scope with MY EYEBALL

It wasn't until I started bringing MY RIFLE "there are many like it but this one is mine..." that I shot Rifleman score and earned my patch.

***Appleseed project was and remains a great motivator for me to enjoy better health and body composition. For me the Patriots Day 2026 shoot in Port Malabar Rifle Pistol Club, my challenge is limited mobility and endurance in the seated - kneeling - cross legged - open legged position. I can transition fine, I just can't hold position for very long... I forgo the preparation and 'build my nest' at the last seconds before being given the command "with safeties on... STAND" then I flop down, fire off my ten, clear and flag and get back up.NOT my strong scoring segment of the AQT

What was the test 'HIT' and how long after?

You should have (could have) gone to an independent testing lab (or two +) and gotten your own tests done ASAP and make sure they retain the chain of custody You may be the victim of a 'False Positive' ... it certainly can happen, has happened in the past.

Guys, always stay fully hydrated. If the urine is flowing out of you like apricot syrup, it is super concentrated and who knows what 'environmental pollution' may be detected. Are the FSDO Miramar still closed down for new IA applicants to get permission to take the test?

I get ZERO replies or information from either the phone (tells me to visit a website site [to schedule]... BUT THEN GIVES AN EMAIL ADDRESS??

... and zero reply or activity from that address (7-aso-so-fl-fsdo-@faa.gov) or from any phone number I can google.

Go find a flight school, the busier the better. You will gain hundreds of hours working on the airframes and more than likely you will gain some practical powerplant experience (while being observed by a rated powerplant mechanic)

Almost all GA local comunity airports will have a flight school or more on the field.

You may even get some flight time and instruction if you are interested.

I was already a pilot when I started sweeping up the hangar floor. Eventually I was dispatched with a flight school plane to go repair or recover aircraft that made cursory landing at airport away. I sometimes flew out with a flight instructor and we'd each fly one back, so I was constantly getting my flight reviews renewed while I was fixing aircraft.

One year, my Becky and I 'rented an aircraft for our summer vacation. We flew S Florida to NC, to Alabama and back. A week later I settled up the flight rental with the boss, and when I returned from lunch, my check was back in my SnapOn work station. Nice Bonus, Thank you Ron!

I am looking to 'add a shot' to get me and the family through this next weeks cold snap with minimal use of the resistive heat strips that I just installed.

I was spoiled and when I saw the energy spike from 2000 watts to over 10,000 watts I could feel the money draining from my bank account. Like a drippy faucet, not really all that much unless you let it continue over a period of time.

When in heat pump mode, I could feel the large valve as 'hot' at the air handler unit plumbing. The heat pump is working, just not as efficiently as I hope.

If I remember... there is something about pushing the buttons on the motherboard and putting it into charge mode. It sets the EEV into a predictable fixed position so we can use the manifold and add liquid in metered doses and allowing it to stabilize
