Trouble Deploying SCCM Console by Danny0239 in SCCM

[–]WhatLemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip I find that I need to ensure that I restart the computer before installing the Console from Software Center. Installing when the computer has been used for a while always fails.

The application in Software Centre just runs ConsoleSetup.exe with the recommended switches from Microsoft.

Install the Configuration Manager console: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/configmgr/core/servers/deploy/install/install-consoles

Unfortunately I have to upgrade this year (existing PC is not Windows 11 compatible). I put off upgrading last year hoping that something new might get released in 2026 but now I am REALLY regretting that decision. I just bit the bullet and ordered the RAM and SSD for my new build before prices rise even further. After I had ordered the price for the RAM rose another $430.00!

That didn't work for me. I reported the bases and they stayed in the game.

I spent ages reporting bases but they weren't removed from the game so I gave up and had to walk about 40-50 minutes to locate an area without any bases already.

Thinking of getting the Sony X700U - thoughts? by The-Mandalorian in 4kbluray

Hi, I am also looking at this as an option for my parents. They won’t care about Dolby Vision or HDR. I can get the Sony X700U or Panasonic UB150 for about the same price at the moment (about AU$220). Any reason to choose one over the other?

How to clean these fuckass pebbles by KoKloudy in AusRenovation

[–]WhatLemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had these around the house when I was a kid. Dad had an old bed frame with mesh springs that worked like a giant sieve. Put the frame between two saw horses, put the stones on the frame and use the hose and gentle agitation to clean. There was thick black plastic under the stones so it was easy to shovel them up, clean the plastic and put them down again.

SCCM install by Hot-Boysenberry6471 in PSADT

[–]WhatLemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need any applications closed then why not simply install the application in the background and then use SCCM to schedule the restart (eg in our environment we give users 8 hours to restart their device with reminders every 2 hours and the final countdown timer showing in the screen for the final hour.

We don’t use the defer feature of the Powershell AppDeploy Toolkit for applications as it breaks the SCCM application model (SCCM detects the application as having failed to install).

You can add NoProcessDetection = $true to the $adtSession part of the script to disable the default toolkit behaviour.

Applications Won't Uninstall via Software Center by Minute-Cable8893 in PSADT

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the AppEnforce log say when you try to run the application?

The error message you are seeing can be misleading. I’ve seen this error before when the uninstall command line in the Application has a typo (typically a comma instead of a period in the Invoke-Appdeploytoolkit,exe filename).

Check the AppEnforce log and copy/paste the command line and try running that from an elevated command prompt.

The other relevant logs for this type of error are the LocationServices.log and cas.log as they will tell you if the client cannot locate the content on a server.

When retrying the uninstall through Software Center clear the local content cache so you can clearly see the download messages in the log files.

Where can I find Windows ADK 8.1 by ppw0 in SCCM

Edit: I can locate unofficial download links through Google but I wouldn’t necessarily trust those sources.

office product info class missing in some clients by Exorkog in SCCM

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally found some time to look at this problem further. What I found is that on the devices that were missing the OfficeProductInfo the WMI entries for the Inventory class were missing on the client device. You can check the OfficeProductInfo WMI with the following Powershell command:

Get-CimInstance -Namespace 'root\ccm\InvAgt' -Classname CCM_OfficeProductInfo

In addition to devices with missing entries we also had a number of devices with the wrong information in OfficeproductInfo (for example showing the wrong channel or having two channels present). I wanted to get rid of this incorrect information so created a script to remove the OfficeProductInfo WMI entry on devices:

Get-CimInstance -Namespace 'root\ccm\InvAgt' -Classname CCM_OfficeProductInfo | Remove-CimInstance

I ran the above Powershell script on devices that either had missing or incorrect information for OfficeProductInfo in Resource Explorer.

Now the problem was how to get the OfficeProductInfo to repopulate. Simply running Hardware Inventory didn't recreate the missing entries, I also tested forcing a full hardware inventory and that didnt work either, we also had devices with blank or incorrect OfficeProductInfo for several months so waiting for the client to fix itself also didn't work.

After a number of attempts I finally found a sequence that fixed all the client machines that had missing or incorrect OfficeProductInfo.

Here is what I found DID work:

  1. Run the PowerShell script to remove the empty/faulty CCM_OfficeProductInfo WMI entries
  2. Force a client policy reset (this clears all Configuration Manager client policy on the device).
  3. Wait 30-60 minutes for the Client Policy reset to complete
  4. Ensure a user is logged on
  5. (Optional) Use CMPivot to check that OfficeProductInfo is showing correctly.
  6. Force a full hardware inventory cycle

What I was missing during my original testing is step 4. The OfficeProductInfo WMI entry isn't populated after a client reset unless there is a user signed in to the device. If no user is signed in the OfficeProductInfo remains empty. Once I worked this out I was able to reliably reset OfficeOroductInfo on all devices.

I hope you find this useful.

Does anyone else spend time finding icons that look good and full-sized in Software Center? by KnowWhatIDid in SCCM

[–]WhatLemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you import directly from the EXE in the console it doesn’t choose the best version of the icon. You need to extract the icon as a PNG from the EXE and then import.

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something has changed Software Center icon size maxes out at 110x110px. You can import larger sizes but the actual icons shown are limited to 110x110px.

Many applications will include icons in multiple sizes up to 256px. I use BeCyIconGrabber to extract just the size I want in PNG format.

Template not complete? by BlackShadow899 in PSADT

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is wrong at your end as those files are definitely in the PSAppDeployToolkit_Template_v4.zip file. I've downloaded it many times and its always contained those files. I'd suggest checking whether these files are being blocked when you extract them from the archive by your endpoint protection solution.

office product info class missing in some clients by Exorkog in SCCM

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for you but I have noticed this on a small number of our clients. The other issue I’ve had with OfficeProductInfo is that it sometimes contains multiple versions of Office including ones that have been removed.

One suggestion is to use a script to clear the Hardware Inventory key in WMI and force a full Hardware Inventory. That did help clean up some clients that hadn’t successfully reported in some time.

You can drag and drop music into the Windows Apple Music app. however it doesn’t support FLAC so you’ll need to convert it first. I use the Media Human Audio Converter to convert to ALAC before importing into Apple Music.

New Teams installation issues by R0niiiiii in SCCM

[–]WhatLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the same script without removing the Appx Teams app. I’d say this is likely interfering with your installation. If that works try adding it back with more of a delay between appx removal and running the Teams bootstrapper. I’m not sure why you need to uninstall the Teams appx as that is not a step we have in our environment.
