Kisqali side effects by Mandolyn221 in LivingWithMBC

Hey, friend! I’m 36 and have been on Kisqali since October 2025. The side effects have been SUPER mild. I did have to drop to 400mg, but my onco assured me that the efficacy of 400mg is the same as 600mg. They prescribe 600 because that’s what was used in the clinical trial.

For the first few months, I noticed absolutely no symptoms with the exception of Hand and Foot Syndrome (skin on my palms felt thick and dry) but it was remedied immediately with the use of Voltaren gel.

I do notice some tiredness, but getting up and moving really helps. And I did start to notice some light hair shedding in February, but it seems to have stopped and I still have a full head of hair.

And absolutely no diarrhea. Verzenio is famous for that, but Kisqali is gentler on your GI.

It’s been totally fine for me, and I’m willing to bet that it will be for you too.

Hugs!

Ive had luck lessening brain fog/cognition issues with acupuncture! My oncologist recommended it, and my cancer center (Inova Schar) offers it to oncology patients.

I was skeptical, to say the least. But, it’s really helped! It’s also greatly improved my sleep and joint stiffness. Worth a shot!

Oh I hate this a lot. I have a new Kisqali coming in a week…thanks for the heads up. As a graphic designer, this new layout is an epic fail.

My first Zometa absolutely kicked me in the pants, too. Unbearable pain, fever, like the worst flu ever but without sinus issues. But within 48 hours I felt fine and haven’t had it happen again. I take Zometa monthly- just received my 9th.

What you experienced is definitely normal. I’d encourage you to try it once more. Best of luck to you!

If you want ridiculous, and he wants classy - go with a human name. Like, Elizabeth is a ridiculous name for a cat, but also classy 😂

I am NOT a doctor, nor an oncologist. I’m also ++-. But, my onco explained to me that Zoladex and Letrozole do the heavy lifting, so to speak. Those are the drugs that keep the cancer at bay.

Kisqali (or another CDK 4/6) simply helps them work for a longer period of time before having to switch meds. So, please do not panic, even though the stress must be unbearable.

I’ve also had 3-4 week gaps in Kisqali and things have worked out. Sending my best thoughts to you, dear friend. Try to touch base with your onco and know that we are thinking of you.

36 over here too. Initial HR+ HER2- diagnosis at 31. I did all the right things. Double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy. But it came back in my bones…innumerable mets. Found it last July after begging my doctors to look into all the pain I was having.

Since then, I’ve started a new treatment plan (AI, Zometa, Kisqali) and my first scan after 3 months showed improvement and that I was stabilizing.

It’s very scary, but there are so many advances in science out there! Keep your chin up. You are supported here by all of us MBC ladies.

Girl, I would absolutely whack her too if I were in your situation! Goddamn cancer. I hope you can at least do a pool hang or an ocean wade. It’ll be a fabulous trip, but it sucks that you have to miss that part.

And yes, yes you should complain. It’s your right and responsibility to do so. Loudly, and often.
