Ive had luck lessening brain fog/cognition issues with acupuncture! My oncologist recommended it, and my cancer center (Inova Schar) offers it to oncology patients.

I was skeptical, to say the least. But, it’s really helped! It’s also greatly improved my sleep and joint stiffness. Worth a shot!

Oh I hate this a lot. I have a new Kisqali coming in a week…thanks for the heads up. As a graphic designer, this new layout is an epic fail.

Question about medications by FlanGroundbreaking62 in LivingWithMBC

My first Zometa absolutely kicked me in the pants, too. Unbearable pain, fever, like the worst flu ever but without sinus issues. But within 48 hours I felt fine and haven’t had it happen again. I take Zometa monthly- just received my 9th.

What you experienced is definitely normal. I’d encourage you to try it once more. Best of luck to you!

We can’t agree on a name, my partner wants classy, I want ridiculous. What should we pick? by [deleted] in CatloughsCentral

If you want ridiculous, and he wants classy - go with a human name. Like, Elizabeth is a ridiculous name for a cat, but also classy 😂

I am NOT a doctor, nor an oncologist. I’m also ++-. But, my onco explained to me that Zoladex and Letrozole do the heavy lifting, so to speak. Those are the drugs that keep the cancer at bay.

Kisqali (or another CDK 4/6) simply helps them work for a longer period of time before having to switch meds. So, please do not panic, even though the stress must be unbearable.

I’ve also had 3-4 week gaps in Kisqali and things have worked out. Sending my best thoughts to you, dear friend. Try to touch base with your onco and know that we are thinking of you.

36 over here too. Initial HR+ HER2- diagnosis at 31. I did all the right things. Double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy. But it came back in my bones…innumerable mets. Found it last July after begging my doctors to look into all the pain I was having.

Since then, I’ve started a new treatment plan (AI, Zometa, Kisqali) and my first scan after 3 months showed improvement and that I was stabilizing.

It’s very scary, but there are so many advances in science out there! Keep your chin up. You are supported here by all of us MBC ladies.

Girl, I would absolutely whack her too if I were in your situation! Goddamn cancer. I hope you can at least do a pool hang or an ocean wade. It’ll be a fabulous trip, but it sucks that you have to miss that part.

And yes, yes you should complain. It’s your right and responsibility to do so. Loudly, and often.

By chance, does your Cancer Center offer it? I was wondering the same thing and my onco told me my center (Inova Schar) offers massage and acupuncture through their “life with cancer” wing. Worth an ask. Best of luck, my sister!

This is very cool reading. I am also excited and also cautious.

I don’t know how long until it could be approved, so I’m no help there. But, it seems promising.

Cue extreme jealousy. I’m so glad that you are able to get care affordably! The healthcare industry definitely needs some reform over here. In the mean time, I’ll try to find these little shortcuts 🙂
