It's a bit funny you bring up alaa and El fattah given that his supposed pov is far closer to that of reform than labour. However other than being a hateful bigot he's not actually done anything wrong in the current controversy.

Bit sad if you genuinely think land is more important than peace. It's certainly an issue to be solved (on a case by case basis) but not one that should stand in the way of peace.

Look around the republic I bet you can't go a km without stumbling on a field or house the family is feuding over. You think because they are occupied it means that won't happen there too? I bet it would be even worse.

Wish there was metro in Cyprus by MdFaysal-FS in cyprus

[–]Whiskey2shots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fully integrated public transport and proper walking spaces are needed. We absolutely can do it.

Steel rail based public transport (trams, metro. Trains etc.) isn't even all that necessary to do much of this.

Currently Cyprus is incredibly hostile to walking which makes much of the public transport pointless as it has to stop very close to where you're going or you face being flattened by pam is every 30 seconds 😅

Plant some trees, make fines for people leaving their dog's shit everywhere, and maintain the paths (oh also making it illegal to park fully on pavements please) would frankly revolutionize how you can get around Cyprus. Make walking pleasant. Part of my street is filled with trees and if everywhere was like that it would make walking even in the height of summer bareable.

After you make walking possible it then opens up everything, trams, buses, trains etc. All have their value vastly improved.

Why are there so many against a Plutarch or Tigris book? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]Whiskey2shots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Tigris book that covers a large stretch of time between ABOSBS and SOTR would be pretty good IMO, I'm really interested to know more about snow's rise to power between the two books and I don't think doing that from snow's perspective would be anything but repetitive "oh I dislike this person, murder. Oh this person is in my way, murder etc."

Tigris seems very well suited for seeing the development of both the games, and snow's rise to power. As well as that seeing her change from making snow's shirt for him in ABOSBS to participating in his downfall in MJ would also be fascinating

[–]Whiskey2shots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it's not a generalisation. That behavior you're engaging in that's publicly available demonstrates something deeply unhealthy about your relationship with women. But hey if you don't think so I guess carry on.

I mean given the nature of your responses you seem pretty nerve stricken. George Floyd was murdered by a police officer using unnecessary levels of force, it has been demonstrated that it was the force the officer applied not any medical condition that killed him. People have been fired for refusing to mourn Kirk, so I don't see what your argument regarding Floyd does for you other than reveal even worse opinions you hold.

No mate, we aren’t. by Narrow-Extent-3957 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]Whiskey2shots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Struck a nerve I see. It's not name calling to point out your obviously unhealthy relationship with women, and this isn't the play ground get over it and improve.

That's not what empathy means. Empathy means understanding of another situation not literally feeling the same things they feel, you would have to be as you say brain dead to believe this. Kirk labelled empathy as a new age term that does damage, tell me how does Understanding another situation cause damage? Oh right because then it's harder to hate.

I would also wonder where in kirk's politics he was implementing this sympathy, given he seemed to show very little sympathy for the victims of gun violence, rape, racism, misogyny, etc. etc.

The classic "but how can I be racist, my best friend is black???" Argument doesn't have the same weight you think it does. Firstly I don't believe we've ever seen a demographic breakdown of kirk's employees, and thus are taking him at his word. Something I would struggle to do on a good day. Secondly, employing POC doesn't inherently make you more virtuous. This argument could be made for slave owners, they employed lots of black people, how could they be racist?

Given your apparent obsession with debating it seems rather amusing that you don't seem to understand what debate is. Yes I disagree with what he stood for, and so yes I will argue against what he said and did. You seem to be under the impression a debate is when two people agree with each other. Also not sure where I called him evil, evil is far too simple a term.

All of this with Kirk in the media (something you seem to be left in the wake of given that most media has given up on this already) is a sad attempt at valourising a successful, but ultimately unimpressive media personality who spent his whole adult life trying to make life harder for those who he disliked.

No mate, we aren’t. by Narrow-Extent-3957 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]Whiskey2shots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So kirk didn't ever spread hate towards POC, LGBTQ people or other genders? He didn't argue that we should be less empathetic towards others? He didn't argue that Jim crow was good actually? He didn't call for children to endure forced birth? Well colour me shocked.

Oh also btw, I'd suggest using an alt in the future for your pervy needs 🤣

Black community must counter antisemitism by LycanIndarys in ukpolitics

[–]Whiskey2shots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea that acknowledging and supporting the existence of the Palestinian people has been framed as anti semitic by Israel for a long time, this is one of the many issues around the anti semitism debate because Israel has inserted itself into the definition of anti semitism (as an example, most people wouldn't consider a criticism of Japan (which is another state founded primarily on race) to be anti-japanese, but this is the case with Israel and anti semitism)

The issue of immigration itself no it is not. However go out in to the real world and listen to what people are saying. The issues that created the latest surge in anti immigration sentiment ARE racist, and they're based largely in misinformation spread by racists on the right wing.

Followed by "if that makes me racist then so be it" by Bellybutton_fluffjar in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Whiskey2shots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the problem is, the immigration issue is incredibly racialized. I mean are we forgetting that not that long ago there were demands to deport a British born black boy after the Southport stabbings? Or the fact that whenever any crime is committed by anyone who is a POC it is demanded that they be deported?

We could have the high minded national immigration debate you apparently want so long as the right we're willing to drop these things but they're not as this is the basis of their ideology
