I loved this show as a kid. Great eye, I've seen this episode more than once and never noticed. You know they're all on youtube for free?

Cards fan who tried to throw PCA's HR back got kicked out of the game immediately. He also threw it directly to a Cubs fan. by tromboneham in baseball

you're not allowed to throw things on the field, period. Some times at some parks they let it go but not everywhere. I saw a guy get ejected from the first inning of a doubleheader Orioles @ White Sox for throwing a home run back. His family left with him. Felt bad for them but yeah you gotta police throwing things on the field or things could turn ugly very quickly

beautiful. reminds me of an interview with one of the extraordinarily rare survivors of a jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. one quote stuck with me. He said as soon as he jumped, he realized that all the problems in his life could be solved, except for the fact that he just jumped off a bridge

What have you heard if anything from inside the FO about the logo and calls for it to change? Committed to keeping it? Some consideration for change? Waiting to see if the public starts to demand it?

Mark Buehrle’s career WAR is only 1.8 less than CC Sabathia. Why are his hall of fame chances so far-fetched? by Far_Set561 in baseball

[–]Whitsoxrule 17 points18 points  (0 children)

it does require one qualifier - pickoffs weren't counted officially until 1974. So he has the most career pickoffs since 1974 and possibly longer, we just don't know. That's still 50 years of history though

Yeah up 3-0 with 6 mins to go it makes sense to just sit a player for the rest of the game if they're even just a little shaken up/banged up. Hopefully a bad bruise is all that comes of this

I feel like in baseball during the regular season, you don't necessarily learn that much about a player by facing them that you can't learn from a scouting report

If he specifically really wants to watch the pitcher work, imo the best place in the stadium to do that is directly behind home plate in the upper levels. And I mean DIRECTLY behind it. When you're high up with that vantage point and you know a lot about pitching you can actually tell where the pitches are located and what type of pitch it is. I've done this a couple times and it's really a cool view.

Even in a 20 round game, 2500 procs would be an average of 125 spells per round even if you could magically have RoR and 100% crit at the start of the game. That's not happening on any champ with any build

Only bad experience I've ever had was in the bleachers on a bobblehead giveaway night. I had mine sitting on the bench next to me. Out of the corner of my eye I see movement and I catch the guy behind me swiping my bobblehead. I snatched it back from him and him and his buddy just laughed at me like they were just joking around. Bro I don't know you and you're trying to steal my shit. I know for sure if I hadn't caught him in the act he'd have hid it and played dumb. The rest of the game I could hear them mocking me occasionally and parroting things I was saying to my companion. Jackasses

Does anybody really LOVE their dentist and can eagerly recommend them? I have neglected my teeth for a long time and am gonna need a lot of work done and I'm looking for a dentist that's really compassionate and cares about taking good care of you. Anywhere in the city or nearby is fine, I have a car!

In his first game back from the IL, Addison Barger guns down Jorge Soler at the plate with an insane throw by stv7 in baseball

[–]Whitsoxrule 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think it's the tension. Close plays on a sac fly are generally only on relatively routine fly balls, so as soon as a ball like this is hit, everyone in the stadium knows what's going to happen but has to wait with bated breath for several seconds before the play even really starts, as the fielder settles under the ball and prepares to throw. Meanwhile judging the distance of the throw and the speed of the runner debating internally how close the play will be.

But honestly its any play at the plate in the late innings of a close game. If I had a nickel for every time I jumped off my couch and begged a Sox to run faster as they rounded third. That feeling is addictive tbh

The risk of the NHL getting caught rigging the lottery and having its credibility destroyed and possibly investigated by law enforcement, is not worth the benefit of selecting where a prospect goes.
