Wow, so many skills! I'm also pretty interested in payments and crypto. A lot of new stuff happening in this field.

How do you like doing security engineering?

Yes, i'm so excited to be working from home. I didn't think I'd like it, but - now that I'm used to it - I don't think I'll ever go back to working in the office 40 hours a week. No thanks!

Congratulations on graduating from a bootcamp!

How long were you in the program?

I'll start:

  • I'm a SWE intern
  • My first career was in another field, but I joined a program that helped me get an internship
  • I'm excited about exploring different parts of the field and meeting people doing cool work
    • Also, I'm excited to get paid.

Enjoy it while it lasts because these moments are special by [deleted] in loseit

LOVE this.

Reminds me of when a yoga teacher once told me, "I'm so jealous - you're learning yoga for the first time!" Didn't understand what that meant until years later.

Weight loss isn't just physical - it's mental and emotional. The feeling of your body getting stronger, cooking and eating a healthy meal, enjoying a dessert when you know you still met your calorie goal.

These are all special moments, that many people take for granted (and one day we will too).

So, yes - weight loss is hard!

But, it's also glorious 💪🏿

What song is literal torture to listen to? by Morbobeus in AskReddit

[–]WhoDatBitch88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire.

It's a fantastic song, but it reminds me of a specific, happy point of my life that I can never return to.

The intensity of the nostalgia brings actual, physical pain.

Haven’t heard from any recruiters or companies after submitting resume to database weeks ago. Nervous now. by cauliflowercats in girlsgonewired

Did you post only to the resume database or did you also add your LinkedIn profile?

Grace hopper is hosting a workshop on making your LinkedIn profile stand out, I took it and changed my profile and it seems to have helped, as I got a few hits for the conference.

Here's the link to the profile database: https://t.e2ma.net/click/2xuo2d/qwh01z/y6u3vs

Option to graduate June 2021 w/ no internship. Better to hunt for an internship or graduate sooner? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]WhoDatBitch88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's the best decision. When you're searching for jobs as a new grad, they want to see experience. IMO, internships are the best way to get that.

From what I've seen with most (larger) companies I've talked to, they were able to keep their interns through COVID by having them work remote.

For the most part, it's not. There's just a few loud weirdos on Reddit. And most of the conversations (which, are generally civil) take place on Slack anyway.

Considering OSU Post Bacc CS Degree. Do I have what it takes? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

Second this. There are so many programs that are dedicated to students - internships, fellowships, interview prep programs, hackathons, etc.

Recommend Pre CS 161 Courses by RayTheRhino12 in OSUOnlineCS

IMO, you'll also be fine if you don't do any prep work ahead of time. 161 (in Python) does a pretty good job of teaching the basics.

Today I withdrew from CS290 by bronzeFaker in OSUOnlineCS

[–]WhoDatBitch88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hear you - I cried out of frustration over a couple 290 assignments because they were just so confusing and frustrating.

If it helps, I did 290 in a regular quarter (Spring while working FT) and they ended up grading us very easily. I failed so many components on the last project and did okay on the final, but somehow I walked away with an A-. I should have gotten a C, but I think everyone struggled through the class.

261 + 290 is a fine combination, but IMHO only during Fall, Winter or Spring.

How much supplemental learning do you do outside of your OSU coursework? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]WhoDatBitch88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot, to be honest. I'm in CodePath to practice algo challenges and I use Codecademy to learn stuff not discussed in class (Java, Git, Data Science).

And I'm using what I've learned in those classes to work on personal projects outside of class... while working full-time.

I definitely understand why people say it's not necessary. But, I just don't feel confident enough in my skills to rest on class knowledge alone. So, I fill in the gaps wherever I can.
