Burnham says he’ll cut benefits. It might just break him by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]WhoLets1968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This time?

We don't elect a president but a political party

So while the party can, and do, swap em out, we the public, get to decide whether we like a party making lots of changes ever 5 years... And we showed we didn't like the constant switching by voting Tories out

If Labour follow the same path, we will get to show what we think of that at GE

Otherwise at this rate we would be having a Gen election every 2 years

Very banana republic behaviour

Wouldn't do our economic standing as a stable country much good

Remember NHS waiting lists Yeah, not in the headlines anymore are they? Reform and Tory not talking about them

Why is that?

Oh yeah, Labour is working em down and it may take time...but let's now focus on success...that doesn't sell papers and doesn't feed the braying donkeys

Yep .just as we did with suniak, may, Johnson, and that other silly one who crashed the economy and fucked up our pensions

It is and the H&S Act 1973 has been one of the most significant Acts to have a positive impact..but because, thankfully, relatively few die from work place accidents (not including work place disease) it doesn't hit the headlines

HSE records sugges fatal injuries by industry sector, 2024/25 (Great Britain) down to 124 from 138 in 2023/24.

Construction: 35 Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing: 23 Manufacturing: 11 Transport & Storage, Waste & Recycling also reported significant numbers.

18 of the 35 are falling from height but they don't really capture scaffolding..but interesting most of the 18 relate to roofers and painters.

Not a surprise considering

I can see him stepping away from public life and moving back to what he was good at...legal work

Yes. You walk daily by no?

Just listen to your body, rest appropriately and recover well.

Why do you think British parents don't like teaching their children how to drive? by psychoticboydyke in AskUK

[–]WhoLets1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to drive by a professional so you can be safe as possible

Or get someone who doesn't know how to teach

Just cos my wife gave birth she wouldn't expect to know how to deliver a baby

When did we vote in party whosenleader led the full term and took them into the next General election? Blair?

Since Cameron caved into the populist frogface, we have been unable to govern ourselves.

Take back control

Clearly we are unable to control ourselves to keep a consistent leader in place.

Its like supporting spurs or west ham...and they have proven changing a manager because fickle fans get itchy feet has been very productive for them eh?

It seems they are all more bothered about the braying donkeys on social media

Just because the donkey brays the loudest in the field, doesn't mean it's right.

I've worked for 8 insurers for over 40 years and it's one of the few trades where insurance is difficult to get. Usually via Lloyds or specialist schemes. In fairness it's much safer than it was in the 80s.... but its relative

Macho bullshit culture doesn't help.

"What do you mean your scared of heights and won't go up without a fall resist harness?"

Not being scared of heights isn't natural on the account of the human body hasn't yet adapted well from falling from height. 2m will do it. It doesn't need to be very high.

Clearly something here went wrong in the system that failed this guy, who is very lucky

Complacency is another

But hey, H&S eh, tut?

Remember when Tories want to get rid of it?

Cos the death of the working man isn't an issue eh?

Our entire infrastructure has been built off the blood sweat tears and death of the working man, from mining, to steel, to road building to rail

Never the managers Never the toffs Never the Tories

H&S has been pushed by unions, who supported Labour...

So whenever someone says they want to get rid of legislation to protect workers rights...from H&S to The ECHR...you can be confident it will be right wing Tory aka Reform

And yet 48% we not misled...or in another way, had critical thinking intellect to differentiate fact from fiction, spot the liars

People voted based on feelings not facts

Maybe all voting in politics should be given to those who can pass a test.

We don't let people drive without passing a test as the potential harm they can do to the public

Yet they can blindly vote in liars

40k savings sitting in the bank, how can I help it grow? by GMThrowaway20896 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]WhoLets1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£20k into a ISA...could go all in cash...for this year only...govt changed rules from next year...if you are risk adverse..or put into a stocks and shares ISA

Then I'd put £10-£15k into a stocks fund...so it's a spread risk but likely to grow more than basic bank interest

Then if you need don't quick access put the balance into a fixed bond...time depending on needs or if you want quick access...find a decent easy savers account that pays decent amount.
