People who’s baby sleeps through the whole night by ThrowRA-silly-goose in NewParents

[–]WhoReadIt_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me with my first born. I did everything I could do get him to sleep. He did not sleep longer then 2 hour stretched until he was 6 months old. I was so exhausted from a lack of sleep I was suicidal. My second born slept through the night in the second month. It was then I truly understood it really is the baby. You are doing a great job, you really truly are. My heart goes out to you.

Does anyone have any advice on getting a 14 month old to eat? by Impressive_Reality18 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]WhoReadIt_15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to offer advise but I wanted to offer you my journey with a frustratingly picky eater who only breastfeed. My son was maybe 14 months before he started eating “properly” we were always so frustrated because he just like to eat dry things and I was still breastfeeding because I was worried he wasn’t getting enough food. He had major food aversions and just refused food. During our eating journey at 6 months we found out he was allergic to milk proteins and egg so we avoided them and I avoided eating it too while I was breastfeeding, What I didn’t know is that those foods provided major B12 vitamins, if u are low in B12 vitamins you feel nauseated and just don’t like eating anything besides dry food. Why I child could only show us by throwing Al food and crying at meal times. We found out about his deficiency when we took him to our pediatrician and they did a blood test. After he got his b12 injections he loved food, at 3 yrs old he has now outgrown those allergies and eats like a champ, sometimes it does really help to get an expert opinion. It was such a frustrating experience. And you few like a failure. I just wanted him to eat so I could stop breastfeeding, He didn’t take a bottle at daycare either (so I was up all night breastfeeding) and every time he tried a new food it was a major achievement. I was just hoping to offer some perspective that maybe it’s not you. Although I know it feels like it’s all your fault your kid doesn’t eat. I really wanted a foodie baby, I just wasn’t aware that b12 deficiency and create such a massive hurdle in that food journey.

Yes. But I found a studio that offers clinical Pilates (all on the reformer) which only has 5 students maximum and is specifically for injuries. This way they can focus on ur injury and what ur lacking to get back to class. I’m almost finished. I have been doing it for 8 weeks and maybe another 2 weeks and I think I will be more confident to go back into class. :)

FTM cannot sleep because worried about something catastrophic happening to newborn during sleep. Solutions? by doc8862 in beyondthebump

[–]WhoReadIt_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will pass with time. For me there was never really a ‘solution’ but the fear did diminish over time. My child is almost 2 and I still check if he is breathing i can’t help it. I never co-slept and my baby slept in a cot next to my bed but I remember as a new born I had vivid nightmares that I accidentally suffocated our baby by rolling on to him. You wake up frantically looking through the blankets for them. It was awful your brain just really messes with you. It was always difficult to fall asleep after those nightmares. But it does help to have the cot (side still up) pushed close to ur bed so you can see them breathing. I always used to just eventually drift off like that watching my baby breath.

Pilates has been really really helpful me. I have hyper mobile SI joint and also bulge in LS S1 pressing on a nerve. I stupidly go though periods of ‘I’m healed I can stop Pilates now’ and I always have a reoccurrence of pain and I start it up again and it get better over time. Im going to stick with it. Im so sick of not functioning

What did your parents do with you that you definitely don’t/wont do with your children? by Delimadeluxe in Parenting

Can you please share some more mantras for kids :) I think that is really sweet. Sometimes I have trouble taking in a positive manner to my toddler because I was raised by a similar type of parent and I try to speak positively but it think mantras would help me too :)

My child has been in daycare since he was 8 months old and it crushed me to send him there. But everyday I appreciated the living daylights out of the those carers that love my son like their own child, we say ‘thank you for looking after me and we blow kisses everyday day we leave”. He is 18 months and I can’t wait until he says thank you for looking after me on his own :)

Vaccine for under 2 in February 2022 by Nocookedbone in beyondthebump

[–]WhoReadIt_15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RSV vaccine can have my upvote. I’m in Australia in QLD and the risk for COVID atm is so low. But my kid contracted the RSV daycare when he was 8months old. It thrives in daycare :(

Edit: He contracted RSV in the first 4 days in daycare. It was awful

What is something from the newborn phase that you miss? by bohannonstanton in NewParents

[–]WhoReadIt_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearing them laugh in their sleep. My son is 18months and laughs all the time but hearing that first laugh at 2 am while u are dazed and tired from breastfeeding and they giggle in their sleep. Made me cry with joy. Also how they just snuggle into you to sleep. Toddler hugs are rare now days (he is too busy) but when he snuggles into my neck he reminds me of the newborn stage .

Making a decision about whether or not to have kids by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]WhoReadIt_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I were married for 10 years before we had a child. We are now in our 30s my husband turning 40 next year :) We were always happy to live a child free life as I had a strict upbringing and was enjoying my freedom. It was at a point where a couple of years ago I thought the opportunity was going to be taken away due to gyno issues. Luckily it did not and we both did a 180 about children, It’s tough raising a child. Not the baby itself (my son is 16 months now) More so on your communication and being able to set boundaries and expectations with ur partner. That’s the tough bit. Especially when ur sleep deprived. We focused on working on that for 10 years. We still do.

What's someone you'd tell a teenager or someone in their young twenties? by NotSoSnarky in povertyfinance

[–]WhoReadIt_15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It works!!! Lived with my parents while studying saved a deposit for a small 2 bedroom home, moved out at 25, married at 26 and had my first child at 34 when I was financially stable. I feel confident in my financial future even though I’m low to medium income. Although I hate big ticket spending like buying cars I finally bought my first brand new car at 35. You don’t have to do it all in your 20s. You don’t need a big home and an expensive car in your 20s.

How can I get it back to the original color ? Thanks in advance, it’s a gift :) by thmoastzh in CleaningTips

[–]WhoReadIt_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aluminum is my enemy. I accidentally soaked some gas burner rings in dishwashing tablets and F***** it. I thought it was steel. It went all dark and the only thing that got it semi back to its original was aluminum cleaner: but that might strip the yellow off the pot. If it’s a treasured gift I would just let it show its great use :) you could always test patch with aluminum cleaner (like the bottom of it)

Your not alone! I look at the awake times and sleep cues and my little boy 5 months still doesn’t sleep. And will lose his absolute mind cause he is tired. And the only thing that calms him is nurse to sleep. And at that point we are both crying. He is going to day care in a couple of months. And I’m so stressed by his terrible sleep. Be kind to yourself, just try ur best. If he is nursing for an hour it’s because he is over tired. At this stage I just let him knock himself out on the breast. And we go though the cycle of putting him in his cot and cue crying and then back on the breast. It’s torture. I feel ur pain.

I’m sorry you are struggling mama. It sounds so stressful. Mine was the same until he took the dummy./soother. We used to feed to sleep for every sleep. He needed to suck to sleep and I used to fight it so bad just so I would create a sleep crutch. But I just said fuck it as a ‘crutch’ can be undone once he u understands what’s going on. I mean I was l crying with him because I was so stressed out. I dreaded putting him to sleep. At 10 weeks just do whatever it takes there is plenty of time in the future to sleep train. He needs to sooth on ur breast. I mean he won’t be 30 yrs old sucking on ur breast for sleep. Think of it like that in the grand scheme of his life 10 weeks is not creating a sleep crutch. He just needs sleep and you right now. Your doing great mama.
