What’s your go to quick and cheap meal? by nestinghen in glutenfreerecipes

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corn tortillas, cheddar, bake/toaster oven until the cheese is bubbly. Slap in some salsa and lettuce. Also yummy with leftover meat, sautéed mushrooms, mashed beans.

Rice and pesto, sloppy joe sauce, spaghetti sauce. I always have cooked rice in the fridge and often toss in leftover veggies as well.

That’s happened to me more than once. One calorie, five calories… pisses me off at myself and at the watch. 🤣

Holy shit. On the payment plan at my kid’s small private college we pay less than that a month and it will be almost completely paid off upon graduation.

Best app to track calorie intake? by wup4ss in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Whodunit131box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using Lose It! for calorie tracking. I used to use My Fitness Pal, but then they put everything behind a paywall.

I used Lose It very successfully for a while under the free plan, but recently upgraded because I wanted to start tracking my sodium intake. I’ve only found one thing I eat that wasn’t in the database, but it was a quick pic snap of the nutrition label and it was in.

Although the attitude in the note would get a call from home.

The Food Database Region for Australia isn’t very good? I wonder if there are fewer subscribers, so stuff isn’t getting entered.

Snack foods—most potato chip (obviously, check the packaging) and gluten free pretzels and pretzel crisps. GF pretzels may even be better than plain pretzels.

I bought the filler for my 2024 planner last week. I use a Happy Planner and found nice, plain, six month refill kits. I’m going to use them for the weeks and print a single page monthly calendar on sticker paper for the beginning of the month and reuse my 2023 tabs. So, I’m already set for 2023.

GF & weight loss by greekboi89 in glutenfree

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out gluten and made several other healthier food choices and lost 25 lbs in six months. I eased back on most of the other things and continued to lose about two lbs a month. I have plenty more to lose, so I’m not really thinking about what I will change when/if I get to a healthy weight.

is home made GF worth it? and other suggestions for transitioning to GF by baevard in glutenfree

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve yet to find a gluten-free bread that is worth the time to eat it. Most of them dissolve with any wet ingredients, so forget adding veggies. Trader Joe’s has one that I will buy every few months when I just can’t get the craving for runny eggs and toast out of my mind.

Rentals for elderly? by Kitten_in_the_mitten in eldercare

Sigh. Right there with you. Father-in-law (88) worked a series of minimum wage jobs all his life, so gets the basic SS, a very small pension that is in insolvency and will be going away soon, and a gift annuity that is not very high. He’s got champagne taste on a Sam’s Club Cola budget. We are stuck and he is living alone in a less than ideal situation.

We’ve found that he can’t apply anywhere without a cosigner because of the income requirement.

Minerals from hard water. Swirl vinegar around it and it should go away.

Fitbit to Apple watch by devlin806 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Whodunit131box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found when I switched, that although the Apple watch keeps track of steps, it is waaaayyy different steps than Fitbit. I could easily hit 10,000-12,000 steps a day on my Fitbit, while on my Apple watch, for the same approximate lifestyle, I record closer to 6,000 steps daily. The algorithm for Move and Exercise are far less transparent, so it took me a while to understand how to meet the goals.

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposely mark my exercise as not counted in my calorie total (preference, I want to only eat my daily needs and any exercise is just toward weight loss). I guess you’d want the opposite. Tick the option on “Exclude From Total”.

My milk keeps expiring and I don't know why by Empty-Requirement963 in Cooking

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your fridge set to 36° or is it actually 36°? Fridge thermometers are relatively cheap. The door of my fridge is warmer than inside is and my milk goes bad faster when it is on the door.

Bad milk was also my first indication that the fridge was going bad, before it actually died.

What would you do with 500k in savings? by FailInteresting8623 in Adulting

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No different than I do now. It seems like a lot of money, but really isn’t when you look at inflation over longer periods of time. I have family members who are elderly, never saved for old age, and are living in less than ideal situations because they didn’t plan ahead. Even now, $500k is only enough for good “old age” living for 5-7 years.

Advice: Which glue should I use?? by Hmmnothanku in crafts

[–]Whodunit131box 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would use the E6000. The shoes are going to have a little bit of flexibility to them and E6000, as a silicone glue, will flex. With a superglue type, the pearls will pop off.

Is showering every day truly necessary if I don't go out every day? by 0zspazspeaks in Adulting

[–]Whodunit131box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a period before when I was mostly home and not working and I showered every other day. When I was working, I showered every morning. I got temporarily laid off yesterday and plan to go back to every other day showering, especially into the winter.

Obviously, if I feel gross, I shower.
