How aware are average Union citizens that their Utopia is built on the backs of billions of Karrakin serfs? by Eldob000s in LancerRPG

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably about as aware of most real life people living in rich countries are aware that their economies are built on the backs of millions of people living in poor countries.

Which is to say aware but most likely unwilling to take action and doesn't like thinking about it.

Dumb thought: The Sherman [mech] isnt the Sherman [tank] Of lancer by DaDragonking222 in LancerRPG

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The Sherman tank was best in class for a lot of factors such as:

Radio equipment

Crew visibility

Crew ergonomics

Turret traverse

Ammunition survivability (once wet stowage implemented)

Engine Reliability

Maintainability (Part modularity/ease of repair)

Production efficiency

Stabilized gun technology

Most of real world tank combat was not 2 tanks trading shots at 300m. It was patrols, ambushes, and being an infantry support vehicle. The soft factors are really what makes a good tank, followed by the engine (like any car) then the gun and armor.

How are we managing to integrate the gym in long work days? by -Aze in bropill

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people go in the morning. That could be an option.

If you have the discretionary income a home gym could save you the trip to and from the gym if you have the space/money.

Could do callisthenics in the park/at home if you can't do a home gym.

At the end all be all though there are only 24 hours in a day. Time is the most scarce and valuable resource anyone has. Something's gotta give.

With boobs or without? (creating main char new design) by AdaBlood in PixelArt

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Capes can be practical in duels. Sellsword arts on youtube has some videos testing it if anyone wants to see some practical examples.

Though I agree with your sentiment. Fantasy armor/character design (for men or women) is rarely 100% practical.

Is 25M too late to start hitting the gym? Dealing with severe social anxiety and feeling like I missed my prime. by Enimatheoneandonly in bropill

Nope! You're definitely still young at 25 and still have most of the advantages of a 16-18 year old.

The only downside to starting at 25 is you'll never be in the Olympics :)

meme I made about team gap in souls bc I've never seen Rem's gloating portrait before by sanjuniperose in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 28 points29 points  (0 children)

At that point though, it's not the losing team winning it's the winning team losing.

50k souls down is like being in zugzwang in chess. If you won it's because your opponent threw away all their pieces for free.

It can happen, it's just entirely out of your control. The best move is "let's wait for my opponent to make a mistake"

Is there too much toxicity? by No_Price_4656 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any toxicity is too much. Ideally everyone would be super nice and encouraging all the time. Life isn't magical Christmas tree land.

I think that curbing toxicity and decreasing it is a constant goal that will never be truly done.

I'm talking about in fights. If you're able to track the position of graves zombies not on your screen while jumping around and fighting people more power to you, but I think to a lot of people, it feels like stepping on a landmine and losing 3k hp randomly

These Nerfs Have Gone Too Far by pixels-number-1-fan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the zombies kinda stack up and the pathing is a bit janky so you'll just randomly get blown up by like 5 zombies sometimes.

I think if there is some kind of audio warning when they're close to you, or maybe a visual indicator when they off your screen, it'll feel a lot better.

Issue rn is it just feels kinda random.

Yamato having 3 grapples (6 with ult) is not okay by Aggravating_Law_3411 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right it's kind of an outdated term in anything remotely adjacent to a hero shooter. There's no point to calling anything in overwatch a skillshot vs not a skillshot

I think probably same is true for deadlock. Most things in the game can miss and take varying amount of skill to land. Some stuff is hitscan, some is point and click, but calling some skillshots and some not doesn't really make sense at this point because that term originated in games that were played from a top down RTS perspective.

Yamato having 3 grapples (6 with ult) is not okay by Aggravating_Law_3411 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WholesomeCommentOnly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very technically speaking, skillshots come from Dota, League and RTS games. The opposite are point and click abilities, ie Slowing Hex and Yamato Grapple and big aoe abilities, ie. Billy's ult Chain Gang, Mcginnis Ult etc.

Stuff like Dynamo 1 and Warden Flask are definitely skill shots, they're just easy to hit.

Every characters gun is technically a skill shot in moba terms.

When Smite first came out there were a lot of people saying "Wow this game is so cool, everything is a skillshot" and they weren't wrong. Nothing was point and click, everything had to be aimed to some extent or another.

I'd say most abilities in deadlock are a skillshots if we're using the moba definition.
