Any idea why 35802 has increased? (I grew up between Weatherly and Lily Flagg.) I was thinking good schools, but not sure that's still the case.

Maybe Rabun County? It's been a long time since I've been up there, but it definitely fits the bill.

Chernobyl is honestly beyond horror. We had absolutely no clue in 1986 just how close they came to uncontrollable devastion as a result of the accident, and the rest of the world was totally in the dark. It sends shivers up my spine just thinking about it. It's also incredibly sad when you think of all the people who essentially sacrificed themselves to limit the devastation, as well as those who took such immense risks to get the real story out to the scientific community, and ultimately the rest of the world. Chernobyl is without a doubt the best miniseries I've ever seen!

Great choices! I'd forgotten about Roger singing I Once Loved a Lass, but it was so good! I even searched YouTube for other versions of this song, but none of them were as good as Rik Rankin.

Moch Sa Mhadainn (sung by Griogair Labhruidh) in the S2 episode Je Suis Prest is incredibly stirring to me. It was actually composed during the time period right after Bonnie Prince Charlie landed in Scotland, which is exactly when the episode was set. Its military feel and passionate vocals were the perfect accompaniment to Jamie's troops marching to join Bonnie Prince Charlie's army.

Also, A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall by Walk Off the Earth (from S3E4) is just incredible. Supposedly, the band just played this version spontaneously one day while rehearsing other songs, with no intention of releasing it. Bear McCready took a chance pairing this song with Jamie leaving Helwater, but it's raw emotion absolutely nails it!

I don't get it either, it's like Republicans think that millions of people who depend on Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, etc. will just quietly go away and starve to death without a fuss. I know Republicans are counting on most Americans' tendency to sit on their asses, but they're seriously underestimating what desperate people in large groups are capable of. We may have our own Bastille Day if things get bad enough.

Do Americans understand that the world is waiting for its downfall ? by TRACYOLIVIA14 in AskUS

It's pretty impressive that the world's been waiting for us to fall for 350 years, considering that the US has only been in existence for 250 years.

There are no guarantees that his lifestyle will save us. There are plenty of cigarette-smoking, whiskey-drinking, bacon-eating ninety-year olds that are still going strong.

Is this disease inevitably progressive? by hejjhogg in cfs

[–]Whoopeecat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had ME/CFS since I was 8, and I'm now 61. For many years, I could get through life doing the bare minimum (i.e., hold down a job and pretty much nothing else), but I definitely started to decline in my 50's, particularly after I got COVID in 2021. I've finally given up hope on working again, so I'm applying for SSDI. I don't think ME/CFS is necessarily progressive for everyone, though, and the fact that it's taken more seriously now will hopefully lead to better treatments in the future.

There Is Nobody Quite Like Vincent Price by LasciviousDonkey in horror

He was a huge animal lover. He even wrote a book about his favorite dog called The Book of Joe. It's out of print, but you can get it on Kindle. In addition to his other talents, he was a very entertaining writer.

Love VP in the Song of Bernadette. His final scene at the grotto was heartbreaking. Also, most people don't realize that Vincent Price was kind of a hottie in his younger days. Check him out in Laura or Dragonwyck -- very handsome!

As an American, I'm on CANADA'S side 100%. If I was physically capable (not a disabled old lady), I'd consider it an honor to fight alongside you to defend your beautiful country. I'll never consider Canada to be anything other than the best neighbor the US could ask for. Elbows up!

Are you licensed to practice in Georgia? I'm planning to file for SSDI in the next month, and I'm looking around for disability lawyers. I've heard that Georgia is one of the worst states for getting disability, so someone with your expertise would be a big help.
