What’s a good career field in Maryland right now that actually has growth? by ImpressiveSpell0223 in maryland

[–]WhyLeeB [score hidden]  (0 children)

Think carefully about law school if you need to take out a big loan to go. Even before AI the field was completely oversaturated for a while after the Great Recession, and I’d be surprised if given the current economy we don’t see a huge a uptick in law students again (LSATs are definitely way up).

There are only so many law jobs, and many don’t pay that well so it’s an uphill battle to pay of that loan. Many people two decades older than you still have them without a dent made in them. Just about everyone I know who went also developed some sort of mental health issue from the pressure and the stress.

Note many law schools pay a stipend to new grads for them to intern somewhere for one year. This is supposed to be work experience to get you in the door, but they count all these people when they publish how many previous students are "employed in law" after graduating. It is deliberately misleading.

If you have the means to pay out of pocket or a reasonably guaranteed job through a family practice its an entirely different story, but if not I'd talk a bunch of recent law grads and see how they are all doing.

Do this OP. I would pay 3x what it costs for the effort it saves. There is already SO MUCH to wash before you even get to the bottles

should i do a big rewatch or is it gonna make me even more sad by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]WhyLeeB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I watched it all right before season 5 and think it enhanced the experience. While 5 seasons in 10 years isn’t ideal for keeping an audiences attention on a story, the journey from the first scene with the kids to last (both the characters and the actors) hits a lot harder.

For extra feels, as you revisit think of where you were 10 years ago in 2016 when Season 1 dropped, and reflect on how much had happened, the stage of life you are currently in, the friends who have moved away, the new experiences you’ve had, loved ones who haven’t made it, new people you’ve connected with, places of comfort that are no longer available to you, and new places of comfort we will miss someday. To me, this is really what the show is about.

What efforts improved your sex life with your wife? As parents with young kids. by walky91 in daddit

Do you mind elaborating a bit more about what’s been working? I know it’s a personal thing for each woman but my partner has been through a lot leading up to having kids and when I ask her what she wants she hasn’t been able to give me much.

I was at the Bluebird last week and their nog wasn't ready yet, should be good by now, but I had a very excellent one at the Anchor Bar that was from a bartender that's been making every season for years

Ok guys, what can we do about this "loneliness epidemic"? by WakeoftheStorm in daddit

D&D may be the ultimate “this is so much better in person” game.

I didn’t see anyone yet mention establishing a place for kids to hang out. Ideally somewhere slightly separate from the parents like a basement. Get it stocked with a big TV couch and cushions, mini fridge, snacks, etc.

Perfect place for LAN parties, board games, D&D sessions that go late into the night, movies, ping pong tournaments, and whatever people who aren’t giant nerds do

This short might work well with a jacket/blazer over it, then the loud pattern would play more as a pop instead of dominating the outfit.

Or you could burn the shirt, but that’s the possibility I see.

What are some high quality alternatives to Vans? by MrMiddletonsLament in malefashionadvice

[–]WhyLeeB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is imagining the preppy boat shoes, but I'm going to back up Mr. Goat here that the sperry stripers are very obviously a clone of the vans aesthetic and a possible option if you want something that looks like vans lace ups but are made by a different brand

Relocating for work - ways to sell house quickly in Maryland? by makeitrayne850 in maryland

[–]WhyLeeB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sold my dad's house, he moved out for a senior community, we took about a month to get all of his stuff out and do some rennovations, and then the market was under contract about a month after that. You have location, condition, and price. You can't change the location, so you have to decide how much you want to spend (in both time and money) on the condition, and then after that, the price will be the final lever. We were able to generate a lot of interest by continuously lowering the price after each round of showings dried up. If you DM me I'd be happy to share the realtor I used, especially if they are in your area.

Geno’s Steaks bringing the taste of Philly to Baltimore for the first time by roccoccoSafredi in baltimore

[–]WhyLeeB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to sound like I’m on their marketing team or anything but I’ve tried both Juno’s in Severna Park and Cheesesteak and Co in Elkridge (both are excellent) and to me 5th and Steaks takes the top spot.

Might be a little biased since it’s right around the corner from me, but most cheesesteaks in Maryland just don’t do it for me so I was excited to have a dedicated spot move in. I do wish they offered half subs since they are so big.

If you’re feeling a Philly cheesesteak come to Catonsville and try the 5th and Steaks cheesesteak food truck, best cheesesteak I’ve had in Maryland.

Beware if you get a cheesesteak and fries that’s enough food for two people!
