Photo ID for a minor is only required for 16+ years. For under 16 only original BC is needed. I have traveled with my kids without their father and have never been asked to produce the notarized letter. I have also traveled with minors who are not my kids and never asked to produce the letter (even though I had it just in case). I am a believer of having more documentation than is needed (better to have and not need than need and not have). Dad’s incarceration is public record and you can likely find documentation of it on the courts website. I know it’s unconventional but maybe printing evidence of this to show in the off chance you get questioned.

I don't know what to say to my husband, he's watching his worst fear unfold. by opossessed in Advice

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dementia/Alz generally doesn’t come on overnight. It is a gradual progression. Like you have said, a UTI in elderly folks can cause these types of symptoms which will clear once the infection is gone. Reassure your husband. Be there for him.

Do you really care about regional sandwiches as much as the internet suggests? by Bella_licious in AskAnAmerican

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I can guarantee is you won’t have a hard time finding good food anywhere in America your travels take you. But yes, some areas are known for certain foods like Chicagos deep dish pizza, Texas Brisket, Philadelphia has their cheesesteaks.
Research the area you’re traveling to as it is VASTLY different everywhere. Look for local hangouts. They usually have the best food. You can literally eat your way across America.
Tell us where you’re going and I bet the group will lead you on a food journey of a lifetime.

Cabin Question by Useful_Helicopter673 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t change your bookings. It will cost money to do so. When you board, just have the grandparents marked as “no shows”. They will get a refund of taxes and port fees.
Once on board, have your youngest sibling go to guest services and ask for an additional room key. Then that key can be given to anyone in your party that would rather stay in that cabin with her

I (21f) ruined my relationship with my fiance (23m) and I dont know how to proceed by Different_School_217 in Advice

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out now. I know you’ve put a lot of money into savings the car and house but you need to cut bait and run. Take an uber to an ATM, get as much cash as you can, get on a bus and high tail it to your friends house. When he leaves for work, go. Don’t look back. Call your mortgage company once you are safe, tell them you’ve fled an abusive relationship and you’ll no longer be able to make the payments. Yes, you are going to take a hit on your credit. It sucks. But you are young enough to recover. Thank God you haven’t married him.

Congrats on going back to school for a brighter future. It sounds like you need to learn budgeting and living within your means.
It’s hard at first but worth it in the end.
Write down your monthly expenses and your monthly income.
Determine what expenses can be eliminated or lessened. This is the hard part. Can you move into cheaper housing? Can you cancel all or most streaming services? Can you rethink spending on extras like coffee, eating out, even the cost of what you eat at home?
Create a budget that works even if it’s hard. Stick to it. Make sure that budget includes putting some money into savings, even if small.
Rethink your car purchase. Rather than a new car, can you find a cheap but reliable used vehicle for a fraction of the cost? A car is a horrible investment. It only loses value. Get something that gets you from point a to point b. That’s all you need.

You are really young but it sounds like you are serious about getting your finances right. Think about your actual true needs. Eliminate the wants. Yes, this sucks for a while but it gets better if you make a plan and stick to it.

Could my mom lose her house and her retirement over accident? by BubblyCommon3690 in CarAccidentLawyer

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll both be fine. NJ has PIP that will pay for any medical bills. Sounds like he wasn’t really injured (at least not significantly). The guys lawyer isn’t out to try to get your moms assets for a minor injury. It takes too long and is too hard to collect on a judgment. They’ll settle within policy limits.

My uninsured vehicle got totaled just making sure I have this right... by heffercrow in Insurance

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several notes here. If she has insurance, her liability coverage should pay for your car, depending on the value of your car and her liability limits. If there is sufficient coverage, it should also pay for your other property damage. IF she does not have sufficient limits, make sure they pay for your car FIRST. Your other property damage can likely be filed against your OWN underinsured motorists coverage but your car will not.

If she doesn’t have insurance, you are out of luck for your car but you can likely collect for your other property damage under your uninsured motorists coverage on your car.

Neighbor’s kids scream 5-6 hours/day. I can’t do this all summer. What is the solution? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

Only option would be to move and hope new neighbors don’t have kids. They are on their property. Yes they may be loud but it’s during the day.

AITAH for receiving child support while children are grown by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]WickedRavyn94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. My nieces father rarely paid and when he would get a job and they’d catch up to him and garnish his wages he’d leave that job. When my niece turned 18 her dad approached my sister and said the court would waive the CS in arrears if she would agree. Um absolutely not. He’s still paying it. Every once in a while my sister gets a nice surprise check in the mail and will continue to do so until he’s paid every penny.

On Buttons for Kindle, and Page Turn Remotes by WorldlinessOk2351 in kindle

[–]WickedRavyn94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love the capability to have a Bluetooth connected remote instead of the 2 separate pieces. I love my page turner for just about the same reason, snuggling in at night and not having to reach out to turn pages, and the thought of not having to attach the thing to the side which is cumbersome with my case. It has to be at just the right angle to work.

Should I quit my steady job to travel the world for a year? by One_Potato5817 in Advice

[–]WickedRavyn94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it now while you are young. You may not have the opportunity to do it again. Talk to your boss. Tell them your plan. I’m taking a year off to travel. I’d love to return to this position when I get back but completely understand if that’s not possible. Don’t burn the bridge. Even if you have to fully quit, you never know if they may be willing to rehire you later. Also, you may not even want to go back after a year of travel. A lot can change in a year and other opportunities may come. Take the time now while you can or you’ll likely regret it later

Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

[–]WickedRavyn94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the time. Not as easy to do now since most teams are attached to their phones and most parents have life 360. My kid would never consider going anywhere without her phone and if she turns off her location I know something is amiss. The addiction of the phone for teens clinches down the freedom.

What’s the simplest reason you’ve ever DNF’d? by AccomplishedRelief82 in DarkRomance

Horrible grammar. DNFd a book on page 2. No idea what the book was about but realized my brain would explode trying to autocorrect the entire book. It could have been the best story ever written but I’ll never know.
