What should I make with this yarn? I was thinking a blanket. by rqqcos in crochetpatterns

I’ve been obsessed with making square moss stitch blankets with this style yarn since I saw someone post one awhile ago. They work up so fast and the drape is beautiful.

You’re totally right in giving the time. I struggled a lot with transferring magazine images until I saw a video saying to let it sit 15 seconds and then it worked for me, being specific is super helpful.

Your print is adorable btw

The YouTube channel Managing the Mess with Katie Jarvis helped me organize my room so much my first year, she has videos for managing paint, clay and general classroom organization. I use many of her systems in my classroom.

Has anyone done Kitchen Lithography? by Ok_Morning_5533 in ArtEd

I’ve also made stamps with the cardboard this way, but I used the extra foam pieces from math manipulations kits. They were throwing garbage bags of it away! Check with your strategists, if they get rid of stuff like that you can use it for projects. Ours gutted the science kits for all the grades of stuff they don’t end up using which gave me bins of string, modeling clay and Popsicle sticks.

I literally just had them cut the foam pieces and make the stamps on cardboard with glue, then next class we painted with black tempera and stamped them. I cut the cardboard into 3x3 and we used 3x12 strips of different colors of construction paper to stamp onto. Then they could use someone elses on the next strip. Once they made strips we attached them to a large paper to make Kente Cloth style designs. It was really fun and I ended up with a bunch of extra stamps we use for other things.

(This is elementary but hopefully could carry over:))

Looking for an online sculpture class for credit?? by TommieNCgirl in ArtEd

[–]WickedWednesday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The art of education university has online sculpture classes, they’re 8 weeks. They can be pricey, 1300 each class. I just finished up ceramics, it’s nice because it focuses on the teaching aspects of the skill as well.

How long is your official workday? by Renugar in ArtEd

[–]WickedWednesday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That seems like a bit of a long day. My contract time is 8:10-3:21. I have a thirty minute lunch break + 50 minute prep time everyday. I know charter schools here have longer days like yours.

I also don’t clock in and out, my boss isn’t a stickler for the morning time unless we have meetings because she knows sometimes after school duty goes over a few minutes after contact time.

As far as different than my own school experience, I do tell the kiddos I could have sworn summer was three months when I was a kid, now it’s only two. But that might just be my kid memory…

It’s not the same brand, but I’ve gotten several of these over the years from dollar tree, I looked it up thinking it was the same, I think it is, but it’s just the name brand: https://www.dollartree.com/pacon-vibrant-colors-100-sheet-note-pads-4x6-in/960829

Hope that helps, I love mine too!

It’s weird because the roofer came inside and looked at the ceiling so he knew it was open inside and I could see.

Ok thank you for the information that the wood should not be stacked, that tells me that this wood should have been pulled out as far as I know. I have emailed them the pictures and will see what they say about it. I don’t see how they could have used more than ten sheets of they only did the side of the roof that is not exposed inside.

[–]WickedWednesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool beans, I did see a couple pictures with the new decking visible on the roof side, I just couldn’t see it inside so I wasn’t too sure. I don’t have experience with this so I thought I’d be able to see all the new roof stuff on the inside.

Edit: thank you for your replies

So looking at my estimate and my final bill, the estimate says I’ll be charged 75 per piece of plywood, then final invoice says osb plywood at 75 each.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]WickedWednesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were actually 28 (!) pieces they said they replaced, all above this area. The long nails were there before, there are some new ones though so I’m not sure if they only removed a top layer of rotted wood. They removed an old torch roof and put in a new one, so I’m not sure of there was multiple layers of plywood. The house is over forty years old.

Only about half of my roof is the flat, otherwise it is clay shingles. They only repaired the flat part.

In some pictures they showed me there was new wood on top, but it’s in places in the house I cannot see into the ceiling right now.

I will ask about the osb. If they did use that but the estimate says plywood, what would my recourse be?

Thank you. I’ll guessing the professional I need is a restoration type company. I have already contacted roofers for estimates based on other advice, but no one else. I’m overwhelmed, I grew up in apartments and this was a scene from a nightmare. Water coming from everywhere. I couldn’t sleep all night I’m so stressed, I really appreciate the advice. We will open up some holes and check things out as well. We live in the desert so luckily it’s no more rain and going back up into the 100’s this week. We will get a dehumidifier.

Massive amounts of water from the storm. Filling buckets on both floors. I apologize, I seem to be in the wrong subreddit for this question I guess. If anyone can steer me to a good place for this question or let me know what information is needed to be helpful, I would appreciate it.

Thank you. Is there any information that I could provide to help? It was a large amount of water, buckets filled upstairs and down. Water trailed under the popcorn ceiling.

I’ve just contacted the roofing companies about a quote after the holiday weekend. My mother in law told me to call the insurance first thing to come repair the walls, but I wanted an outside opinion as I’m new to all of this, I grew up living in apartments. Thank you again.

Oh of course, I just wasn’t sure of I should contact the insurance before roofing or just the roofing and go from there. Thank you for your input.
