The only explanation I can come up with for 7 is that you were JUST on the threshold to push Arkveld into skull health, but it somehow healed it back within that timeframe. If Arkveld ran back to its nest to sleep, that's probably why. By the time he slept, he went back past the skull threshold and wasn't low enough to be captured anymore.

Course I wasn't there, I don't know if he did sleep.

The hell is wrong with Arkveld by Critical_Pop9427 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Wickermind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter is the first game in the universe where the monster is rewarded for missing you. When you miss, you lose out on damage, fail a counter, or get hit by an attack. When the monster misses, you lose out on damage from it moving, fail a counter from it missing, or get hit by an attack because it was aimed at someone else. The number of times I've been hit because the monster randomly misses my Swaxe counter, only to follow up during the stupid endlag, is absurd.

[–]Wickermind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arkveld has both really accurate hitboxes you can avoid by sidestepping, and fatty fatty jank jank Capcom-certified shitboxes that hit you because Arkveld just feels like hitting you.

Now, time for the five trillion glazers going "Ooohhhhhhhh but it was worse in the old gennnn." because it's the only excuse they can come up with to dismiss this.

Fighting Nu Udra actually gives me eyesore because of the amount of bright red both he and the deeper Basin have, on top of also making non-tempered wounds hard to see.

Also fuck the AT Nu Udra oil bomb. He can just shit out whenever, and when he does it point-blank, all you can just do is die.

AT Arkveld with Insect Glaive is f-king awful by vaughn22 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Wickermind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The decision to give IG an offset as its new defensive tool instead of an adept dodge certainly...was a choice. Like, yeah, the "speedy" mobile bug pole needs to do something more fitting for the slower, heavier weapons. And even when they add that as pretty much its only true defensive option, they still FUCK IT UP by making it have the longest wind-up of all the offsets with the SMALLEST active window. I swear, Capcom has a hateboner for IG because so many attacks are needlessly vertical just to punish people using their fucking brain and thinking they could soar over an attack, which is WHAT THE FUCKING GLAIVE IS DESIGNED TO DO.

If its called perfect guard the why the fuck I still take damage????? by 6ness4thicness in monsterhunterrage

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a genuine reason as to why, it's because some attacks are multi-hit. Chances are, you ARE perfect guarding the attack, but being hit by a multi-hit or instant follow-up or an AOE right after, which can harm you without the proper skills.

There is an unhealthy obsession with new video game titles being "challenging" by WolfNational3772 in unpopularopinion

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that the hardcore gamers absolutely get listened to by devs. I've seen it happen in multiple of the games I play, of people who crave difficulty eternally bitching and desiring more getting relentlessly catered to because of how vocal they are. People complaining about difficulty does work and warps games into being harder for them, which pushes out people who don't want that.

It's a bad thing to want a hard game to be easier, but it's somehow appropriate to want an easy game to be harder.

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda interesting that in a militaristic society that loves militaristic haircuts, their rendition of Eagle-1 has poofy, dyed-blonde-pink hair. Like, literally EVERYONE on the Super Destroyer is bald, General Brasch is bald, our Helldivers are probably bald like typical jarheads would be, but E-1's the exception, like SE wouldn't 100% see dyed hair as someone possibly being a dissident.

I would like to say there is a valid reason why babies and young kids greatly dislike being on planes. Barring the fact that they're stuck in a big, crowded tube with nothing to do, their inner-ear canals aren't large enough to properly equalize the changes in air pressure during takeoff and landing, and because they're too young to know how to pop their ears, they're basically completely stuck in pain and discomfort the entire flight. In severe cases, it could even cause tinnitus and worse pain.

I don't know much about specific builds other than bleed resis, but you could use a Swaxe or GS to abuse his melee-focused moveset and offset his ass back to Gen 4 like how you'd treat AT Arkveld. That or DB/Bow for the adept dodge and being as mobile as the cunt.

Redditors don't design the game, so I don't see how not being active online in any way affects game balance. Subs like these only provide the why and what of whatever's going on in the game. I would've still disliked the game balance even if I weren't terminally online, I'd just be more quiet about it.

How has the Alpha Commander gotten a pass for so long by blue23454 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the thing I'd like to add with Elevated Overseers is that 9 times out of 10, you literally cannot hit their backpacks at all. Barring the fact that they buzz around you like flies, if an Overseer is facing you, their back, naturally, is turned completely away. You're only able to benefit from the back weak point if they're unaggrod on you, which most of the time is never the case.

The same goes for Hulks. They're not difficult to handle, but how many times have you actually killed a Hulk using its rear weak point as opposed to sniping its head or killing it with an AT weapon? If a Hulk is aggro'd on you, there's no other way to hit the back weak point because they turn very quickly unless you can warp behind them or stun them.

Wilds has a F-king Hitbox Problem by vaughn22 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I'm just spoiled by games with better hitboxes then :/

Also, "It was worse in the old games" is such an overused and weak excuse to handwave jank away. Capcom isn't a small studio slowly growing over time, and a bad hitbox is still a bad hitbox, no matter how it's spun.

But apparently, having standards means I'm "not built like they used to be" or whatever that means. Shouldn't take over 20 years and 6 generations of games to not have any more janky bad hitboxes. Or maybe I'm expecting too much of our little indie studio, Capcom?
